She was very matted, and while most groomers would have insisted on shaving her, Bernard patiently worked through the tangles (he does charge for dematting, as expected), and gave her a beautifully shaped, hand-scissored cut. He really understands doodle coats -- he owns a doodle and a poodle himself -- and takes the time to deliver a thoughtful, adorable result. From the first conversation on the phone I was sold on bringing in our toy poodle, whose hair has been butchered all around San Francisco in the last two years. Time was take to thoroughly discuss the cut and expectations, which I appreciated. Our girl was matted, so I knew it would be more than just a bath and shape but she was done well within the timeframe discussed. We can always tell when our dog has been traumatized by a grooming, but she returned to us a bouncing, prancing happy little princess with the most adorable cut ever! My dog almost got sepsis after his dematting. The groomer de-matted my dog so aggressively that they left MULTIPLE cuts all over his body which got infected and turned into abscesses. We had to put my dog on multiple rounds of antibiotics due to this groomers negligence. Have spent over $4,000 in vet visits since the incident (3 weeks). My dog is an extremely sweet and gentle boy and it breaks my heart knowing I almost lost him to reckless negligence. If you are dealing with pets, treat them with care--I cannot even begin to imagine how much pain he must have felt during his grooming to yield such severe cuts. Extremely disappointed and upset. My dog had so much fun at beach prior to the bath time here that I felt so bad my dog came to this place very sandy. I would really love to leave a great review but have had three bad experiences here so moving on.   First was being told, when I called, that my dog's collar and leash were definitely given to me.  I didn't notice they were missing as I carried my dog from Showtime to my house.  Only later did I notice.  I searched everywhere in my car/house then called back and asked Bernard to please look. He said, "We never send any dogs out without their collar and leash".  I returned later that day and Bernard said they were there and never apologized.    Second time I received a call that brushing out my dog's ears would be an extra $35 (have a small dog) as they were matted.  I brushed them out the night prior and they were not matted.  I told them just to forget it.  The third time I called to book an appt.  Bernard told them to go to their website, as they were no longer taking appts by phone.  So, I booked the appt and then told the groomer exactly what I wanted when I dropped off my dog.  I also said, "Ask Bernard or call me if you have any questions as I've brought my dog here many times".  When I picked him up, he only had a bath and Bernard told me it was MY fault for not speaking to him directly, though he wasn't there when I dropped him off and I gave the very nice groomer (Leo) instructions.  He said the groomer didn't know anything and I need to call him directly going forward.  I don't have his personal cell phone!  Why have groomers working there that the customer is not supposed to talk to?  It's a shame as overall grooming is good but way too $$$ to be treated this way. read more

I had a lovely experience with Bernard. I called him last minute and he gave me an appointment right away. My dog had mats all over and expected a complete shaved down dog but Bernard actually dematted him and gave him a wonderful haircut.
