My wife and I have been VIP grooming clients since we moved to SF 5 years ago. We work with Dennise who has built close, trusting relationships with both our 10 year old maltipoo and our bernedoodle puppy. Our maltipoo in particular had very difficult grooming experiences prior to Dennise. Dennise is dedicated to serving every dog she grooms regardless of age and temperament. We can attest that she built a strong relationship with our maltipoo that has helped her feel more at ease being groomed (a true feat). Dennise also is the only groomer we have trusted with our bernedoodle puppy which has clearly paid off: our puppy seems to truly enjoy hanging out with all the groomers and other pups when she is in the shop. Dennise is clearly passionate about her work and it is an added bonus that she gives her clients excellent hair cuts. Shout out also to Brian for all of his hard work behind the scenes keeping the business side streamlined. He is kind, friendly, and makes scheduling appointments easy for us which is greatly appreciated. We look forward to continuing to work with Dennise and Brian for many years to come. We book online a couple months in advance with VIP and choose Adam as our groomer. Adam is amazing. I don't know how he does it but he stays patient with our extremely anxious dog and gives him the best cut every time. We are thankful Adam continues to groom Jameson even though it's stressful for him. Today, Adam warned that he wasn't able to groom to his usual standards because Jameson really did not like the clippers. He had to hand scissor more than usual. But Jamo still looks like he was groomed perfectly (see photo). read more

Really love VIP ! Been coming for two decades ! Lancy owned it for most of those years ! She was always so amazing , the dogs love her & she always had a team of thoughtful and artistic folks . All of that continues under the new ownership . I think Lancy still comes in occasionally. They take appointments 7 days a week , which is amazing . I have had 4 diff dogs , that they have groomed , and all 4 act like they are visiting friends , when I drop off & that matters , so much . Tails wagging . This place was great. I'm new to the neighborhood and needed a place to take my special-needs dog for a nail clip. It's a convenient location, really nice facility and cute decor inside. We are super impressed with VIP Grooming, especially Dennise! We adopted our dog about a year ago. She had been neglected, under socialized, fearful, and bit you hard when she was scared. We did a lot of work with her, but the only thing we still couldn't do was groom her without her being aggressive. We couldn't even throw a towel on her at home despite her becoming one of the sweetest and most affectionate dog. We had used a mobile groomer, who last suggested that they needed two people to hold her down and would charge us a lot extra. Today was our dog's first appointment with VIP, and they did an amazing job! Not only that, our dog was happy and in a good mood, much to our surprise when we picked her up. This was also her first time being left at a new place. Not only that, they were able to take off her undercoat, trim her down, and made her look super cute! Can't rave enough about them! I brought my 5-year-old Toy Aussie here last week for a grooming appointment with Jamie. Based on these rave reviews I expected all would be great! The haircut was a little uneven, but more concerningly, she cut my pup at multiple points around her tail. My dog wouldn't walk leaving the groomer, which I went back in to ask about, inquiring into whether she had been nicked. I was told my dog was probably just uncomfortable with the breeze on the short shave around her genitals. I carried her home, where I found the cuts. My vet gave me antibacterial mousse (TrizChlor 4) to use twice a day for 7-10 days, along with a skin soother salve from the Natural Dog Company. My dog limped for three days and cowered in corners, which was very upsetting to see. 6 days since our grooming appointment, my dog's now acting more normally, though the cuts haven't fully healed and she won't walk further than a few blocks. Things could have been worse, but they definitely could have been better! I've taken my dog to countless groomers in multiple cities since I got her as a puppy and never had anything happen that required multiple days of medical aftercare. I feel sad to have brought her somewhere that ended up hurting her and definitely won't be bringing her back. I wanted to share my experience here so others can bear this in mind when making their own decisions about groomers. read more

I took my two littles into VIP Grooming this morning. They are nervous Nillies so i was a little worried about them "freaking out". But no problem....i picked up 2 very clean, soft happy dogs. Even though they are short haired they looked so pretty and their coats were soft as silk from special conditioner. Their pretty little faces were a glow from Blueberry Facials. The Staff are wonderful and clearly know how to handle nervous littles...cause my dogs were not at all stressed when i picked them up. Wonderful Experience and they were very accommodating, even though i was 10 minutes late...very welcoming; very nice. read more

The nail service was super!! Wilson got a trim and pawlish in under half an hour while I enjoyed an iced coffee across the street with a view of the grooming area. Great cutting the nails of my anxious chihuahua. I was nervous because she hates cutting her nails cut and has been known to snap and be very vocal. Alysia did a great job with my dog, Stormy. Up until now I had been grooming Stormy myself and it showed. Stormy doesn't love getting groomed (blow dryers scare her, doesn't like getting her face or paws messed with) so it was important for me to find a place where they would take their time. I brought in something that looked like it crawled out of the trash, and I took home a clean, soft, well manicured dog. Staff was really nice and prices were reasonable for the services they provided. We've come here about three times now and each visit has been great. We were recommended this place as they have experience with Shibas who are known to be extremely dramatic (depending on the dog, of course) We were super nervous bringing him here because our Shiba doesn't like being handled and he is super fidgety. He will bark and scream bloody hell. Next time around, we'll have to give him something to calm him down a bit. But I really appreciate the fact that they have "Difficult Nails" as a service option as this helps a ton. I have been a customer of VIP Grooming for many years (I think before they rebranded!). My dog LOVES the staff and she's always welcome with smiles and cuddles. She is now senior, blind and has cognitive decline. Nevertheless, she still gets super excited when she hears the staff. I love how they treat her and they always do a great job on her.
