Took my 7-year old Remy for her FIRST nail trim - we took so long to tackle this since the concrete usually does the job filing her nails down but since the pandemic and everyone staying home more than usual - it's grown way too long for us to rely on the concrete. We did a walk-in (her grooming room is located inside Mr. Muggles) and was quickly assisted by Jenny - my dog was scared but Jenny did a great job at comforting us as she cut Remys nails and even shared some dog nail maintenance knowledge with us. Anyway, Thank you for taking care of us - you've earned another client! read more

Absolutely incredible groomers here! I got my dog in September and he's an extremely anxious rescue. Lord knows what was done to him before we got him but he's very fearful of new hands and despises people touching his paws. Jenny was so patient with him when we first met, calming him with treats and other methods. By the end he was beautifully groomed and they were better friends. We've since gone back twice and this past time she gave him the cutest trim. He came out looking like a little polar bear. Absolutely adorable. I highly recommend Jenny! I also recommend Mr. Muggles next door but that's a separate review! read more

We've been taking our labradoodle to get groomed by Jenny and team for several years. They always do a great job and never any issues. Even when our dog is very matted, he ends up with a cute haircut. Huge bonus that they share space with Mr Muggles. It's very convenient that we can drop our dog off at daycare, he gets groomed, and then sent back in for daycare. read more

My husband and I took our baby girl Goji here yesterday! Goji is our first dog and she is a pandemic puppy. From start to finish, Jenny talked me through their process. Goji was not allowed until she received her rabies vaccine at 17 weeks. After that, we were able to get her in quickly as even her vet doctor was saying her hair was getting quite long. Goji was handled by Didi who Goji loved right off the bat! Didi listened to what we wanted, sent a video update for any last touch ups, and even gave me the heads up that in areas where Goji isn't quite ready yet, she will hold off until those areas are less sensitive for her. All in all, our girl came home smelling like flowers and I just love to bury my head in her soft hair and cuddle her. Thank you so much k9 spa for treating Goji so well on her first groom! read more

Wanted to try a new dog groomer in the city and came across K9 spa. 1. Called on a Thursday and they were able to take me in the same week. I've called multiple groomers around the city prior to calling K9 and everyone was booked a week out. So thankful they were able to get me in! 2. Great location 3. Awesome customer service-Jenny was very sweet and very attentive to how I wanted my pup cut and boy did she deliver! 4. They did a great job on my Fendi. Absolutely nothing to complain about about...exactly what I wanted and I am very picky! They're also connected to a dog boarding house for those who need their pups in good hands. You can tell that this venue loves their customers....2 legged and 4. So thankful I found this place....I will definitely be coming back. read more

I was very impressed by how clean it is here. I brought my dog in for a quick bath and a nail trim and just want to mention that the staff really took it to the next level with their customer service. The owner Jenny was very personable and I can tell she really took extra care in handling the dogs there. It's a small shop and that means more care and focus is spent on the dogs, which also means appointments do get booked fast, so I recommend calling early. I'll definitely be bringing my dog back here. Also wanted to mention that K9 Spa is actually inside Mr. Muggles doggy day care boarding which makes it very convenient if you ever need day care or need to board your dog and also want a wash/groom. read more

Di Di is the one to trust with your dog! She is so gentle and truly cares about making dogs feel safe and comfortable.

We have a usual dog groomer we go to, but with Thanksgiving coming up and our dog needing a groom so he wouldn't shed we decided to try this place out. I work nearby and had heard that they were fine from some coworkers. Do NOT take your dog here unless you want a stressful experience for everyone involved. A bad start from the beginning-- we had requested a full groom and cut on the phone but the girl seemed surprised that we had requested a cut. Our dog has never had trouble with grooming or vet visits, but was noticeably a bit more on edge since the spa is right next to a doggy day care. The groomer wanted to put him in a kennel despite us being the first appointment of the day and was incredibly unsteady handling our 20 pound dog. Thankfully, my partner insisted on walking him into the grooming area with the groomer and trying to calm him down, but the groomer seemed almost hesitant to handle my dog in any way, and certainly seemed uncomfortable that my partner requested that he not be put in the kennel. When my partner picked our dog up and brought him back to the car, he immediately burrowed into my arm and was VERY on edge for the next few hours. My partner had rushed out since the groomer seemed to want the transaction over quickly, and we didn't see how poor the cut was until we examined him further. The owner (who was not who had done the grooming) was very kind on the phone, and agreed after some persuasion to refund us for the cut, but not the shampoo, nail trim, etc. In all, we got back about $35 from what amounted to roughly $80 with a tip. This definitely upset my partner and I and left my dog in a shaky state until we took him out to play at the park. I will take this as a lesson not to deviate from my wonderful groomer that I've been going to since we first got our dog. read more

One of the best finds on yelp! As a first time dog mom, I wanted to make sure I found a great groomer and found K9 Spa through Yelp. First off, It's a nice walk from my place so that was a huge plus! I took my dog here for nail trimming they were really friendly, accommodating, and did a great job. I have been bringing my dog here once a month for that last 5 months now and my dog who is bit scared of most things, is really good when he comes here. I called them this morning because some of his eye brow hair was bothering his eye and they were able to see him today and it was quick and now my little guy is better! I am so glad I found this place to take my dog for his grooming needs. Very friendly and convenient. Recommended for sure! read more

I wanted to give my toy poodle his first hair cut, came across this place on yelp. Fingers crossed* called this place, and a lady name Jenny answered. She was so sweet and told me she'll try to squeeze me in for 1pm on Sunday 7/22. She told me she'll give me call first thing in the morning Sunday. She did, with great news! Finally a haircut for klay. When we got there, the place was like a warehouse looking salon but clean and with a foggy day care in the back which I though was fun. Jenny greeted us and told us all we needed to know before we gave klay up to her. Came back in 2 hours.. and klay was lookin' so handsome as ever! Definitely coming back to this place. Thank you Jenny and Dd (I believe her name was) for the haircut! read more

I just recently heard about this place, and took my little Pomeranian here to get groomed, Not only did the owner Jenny do an amazing haircut, but she was affordable and my dog was happy, she listened to all my specifications, (I'm a pain in the butt sometimes when it comes to my dog) and I was so so happy. Def a boutique grooming salon as 3 people commented on how amazing my dog looked as we walked down the street. read more

I cannot review my dog's haircut, as I refused to leave my dog at K9 Spa. Admittedly, I am cautious: I've had GREAT experiences with groomers but also terrible ones, where they've cut my dog. I usually go to Mudpuppy's (on either Castro or Chestnut) for grooming and they are great! I had a grooming appointment scheduled there for last Sunday, but they had to cancel due to an emergency. So I looked around and found K9 Spa and they were able to get me in this very same week. Great! I went over there this morning. Place is cute--lots of dogs running around at the doggy day care where they share a space. The lady at the front desk greeted my dog and me. After I confirmed she was the one who was going to groom my dog, I tried telling her how I wanted his hair cut. I told her that I didn't want her to cut his whiskers, but she didn't understand. So I repeated, "Don't cut his whiskers" and pointed out his whiskers and she sort of looked at me blankly. I then told her I wanted him shaved all over, but not too short. She seemed to understand that okay, but then I told her that my dog's ball sack (removed because he was neutered but still is kinda floppy) looks like hair, but do not cut it, it is flesh. She had no clue what I was talking about, so I flipped him over and pointed it out and she seemed to understand okay. Now, my dog is about 50 pounds and she put him in a tiny dog cage where he proceeded to bark bloody murder. He's chill as can be if you put him in a room, corral, etc, but he's a rescue dog and spent months in a tiny cage. He was visibly (and very audibly) upset. I asked her if she was going to keep him in that cage all day and she nodded... so I left and took my dog with me. I wasn't willing to spend over $100 to get back a terrified dog without his haircut to my liking (or worse, shaved whiskers and a bloody ball sack). I know it's a small business and I hate leaving a poor review, but I have firsthand experience with great groomers, and this place just doesn't compare. The other reviews are excellent and they actually went through with the cuts, so take my review with a grain of salt. read more

Our rescue pup Tobey was in much need of a haircut. This was my very first experience at a dog groomer so I was a little confused and nervous. However, from start to finish Jenny put my mind at ease. She asked me what type of cut I had in mind and provided me with her own expert advice and recommendation. We decided to go with more of an overall trim rather than a more dramatic cut and I am so glad I took Jenny's advice. Tobey looks so put together and handsome. Thanks Jenny! Excellent doggie haircut. Easy experience. Price was OK by SF standards. We'll be back.

I asked for something a little unusual (a very short cut on a doodle, as we were headed out for a camping trip), and they did exactly what I asked for. They finished early, did a great job, and the pup was happy to give the groomer a friendly wiggle and kiss on the way out the door, which makes me feel confident that they were kind and patient with him. I was looking for a last minute friendly place to take my dog Max for a nail trim and gland expression. Jenny was very helpful with answering all of my questions and was able to schedule him in for the next day. I was in and out within 10 minutes of his appt for $36 which is cheaper than most vets. I was even able to take a peek at the daycare in the same building which looked really cute and got some info. We will definitely be back. read more

Just picked up my dog from a grooming appt with Jenny. She handled my energetic 60lb labrador puppy with ease...and he doesn't love baths! It's clear that she's been doing this a long time. The price is right - $50 for a bath, including nail trim and ear cleaning, and she uses good products (I think it was an organic oatmeal shampoo). It was easy to get a weekend appt, and I like that it took less than 2 hours (some places tell you to come back in 3-4 hours for just a bath). K9 Spa is located inside Mr. Muggles dog boarding. For all those who never had their dog groomed, it could be a scary thing. I have heard horror stories of dogs being cut and hurt and sadly, without the owners knowledge. However, Jenny and her team did a wonderful job with Oliver. This is the first time since adopting Oliver that I considered getting him groomed. She listened to what I wanted her to do with Oliver and she did exactly what I wanted her to do. She also gave me feedback on what happened during his appointment - which made me more comfortable in leaving him alone with new people. Overall, Oliver came home a happy camper and she did such a great job with his "spa" treatment that we have found our place to go. Also, the prices are reasonable and affordable compared to other places that I researched - which is also another plus. So, if you are still looking around for a great dog groomer, I highly recommend Jenny and her team at K9 Spa. read more

I called and requested a quote for a grooming and bath. On the phone I was told by the owner Jenny that the price would be $55-65 so I booked the appointment. We showed up and the woman at the front desk said the owner left us an "update", that it was going to be just a bath. When I said no we wanted a groom haircut the woman said the price would be "over $100". They couldn't even give me a real quote. If I wanted to just give her a bath I would do it at home, I specifically requested a hair cut on the phone and was given a price, then when I arrived everything was different. Horrible. Now our dog is without a haircut and we wasted our morning bringing her here. Never coming back. Make sure you confirm 10x before you come because they're going to change everything on you once you get there!!! read more

I am new to the San Francisco area and was looking for a groomer for my Cavalier King Charles spaniel. I did a little research and I found K9 spa. the website was full of great information. My mistake was to not visit the groomer location and meeting the groomer. The website does not represent the facility. Lesson learned. When I went in for my appointment, I communicated how I wanted my dog to be groomed, she proceeded to tell me that the ears were to matted and that she would need to shave the hair off. I communicated please do not touch the years. Just to give the dog a bath and trim the hair on his body by half inch. I figured since the cut is usually done using a blade with an attachment, there was very little room for error. Admittedly, the body trim was done well. When I picked up my dog, the ears were so badly cut, anyone could've done a better job. When I communicated my dissatisfaction with the service, they did not even offer to discount the cost. Never again! read more
