All of my friends know I am a huge purchaser of online coupons, Groupon, Bloomspot, HomeRun, FreshGuide, you name it, so I was thrilled when my inbox had a special for City Tails. It was $50 for $100 worth of pet services. At first I was concerned it was only for dog walking but I read the fine print and realized it also was good for pet sitting. Score! So for $100 I was able to have four pet sitting visits. It's the perfect amount of time to see if it's a good fit for you and your animal. Labor Day weekend was approaching and I knew I had to schedule sooner rather than later. I sent a quick email request and met the ladies a couple days later. Upon meeting, I was incredibly impressed with Lauren and Renee! They loved Finley and Fin seemed to really like them too! :-) I walked them through my house, pointing out any areas where Fin gets into mischief, did a quick summary on feeding and litter box maintenance and signed the City Tails wavers. I felt completely at easy while I was away. I came home to a happy kitty and a nice note from Lauren and Renee. In the past few weeks we have used City Tails services 5 times and they will be our only walkers in the city from now on. It is so comforting to know when I go out that our sweet dachshund is so well care for. I was recommended to City Tails from friends, and heard that they were trustworthy and really loving. It turned out to be beyond true. Renee even left us a note with how everything went the first day, and one day when our pup was a bit lethargic, she stayed longer to play with her and keep her company. My partner and I have tried a number of places around SF including Pet Camp and Wag Hotel, but City Tails has been the best and I can say that I'm done looking for alternatives. Every pet owner has to worry about leaving their kids with strangers, but our worries were put to rest the first time Lauren and Renee came over to meet our dogs. They were clearly professional and the dogs took to them instantly. While we were gone, we got text messages letting us know the dogs were good and when we got home, we had a nice little note giving us a wrap up for the time we were gone. And as the true evidence of how well they took care of the dogs, when we got home they barely moved to come greet us and slept most of the rest of the day, clearly because they were tired from good exercise. These guys are great! I found out about City Tails via Bloomspot, where I got a voucher for $100 worth of services for $50. I have used one cat sitter I liked, and one not so much, so figured I'd try out City Tails and see if I could find a 2nd sitter I (and my kitties) like. I had City Tails visit my cats for 4 days on a recent mini-vacation. Lauren was great! She sent me email updates and included pics of my kitties, which was awesome :). I could tell from her emails that she truly loves animals and really enjoyed playing with my crazy, hyperactive 2 year old boy. (My older cat is very independent and mellow and not so into attention from anyone but me, but I know Lauren tried!). Anyway, I highly recommend City Tails, and will definitely use them again next time I go out of town. So happy to have a new favorite pet sitter! read more

As first-time dog owners we were nervous about finding the right walker for Vito, our rescue dog with major separation anxiety. As soon as I met Lauren I could tell she's super caring and felt at ease for leaving Vito in her care while we were at work. She was proactive in giving us tips to help with his anxiety and would send us little updates + photos of him which gave us peace of mind that he was getting good playtime with other dogs. One of the reasons we have cats and not dogs is because they're pretty low maintenance (comparatively). They don't need to be walked, there is very little grooming involved and they're not always begging and pawing at our feet for treats or attention. That's not to say they don't know how to cuddle and provide companionship (they do), it's just to say we have a healthy, mutual respect for each other's independence. As independent at I like to think our cats are, they can't be trusted to be left alone when we go away. Enter Lauren who can coax even the shyest and most scared of our two cats out from the corner and get her to plop, prance and sit still for petting. Lauren takes incredible care of our pets so that we never have to worry about them. We've used other services (and friends) in the past and I think what makes Lauren different is that she really loves animals (it's clear in everything that she does) and she is a great communicator. When we are away, she always manages to send an update and a photo to let us know how things are going. We've been incredibly impressed with Lauren's professionalism and passion for her business. I actually use City Tails as a cat sitter for my orange tabby named Ginger. I often find myself with needing someone to watch over my cat Ginger for several days when I have to go to Southern California or have quick business trips. There are many Vets and pet hotels that offer boarding for $$$ but they have weird hours (like not being open on the weekends so I can't pick up Ginger), which causes me to have to pay for extra boarding days. In addition I always feel so much better knowing that Ginger is safe and comfortable at home and not in an unfamiliar location. So City Tails makes the whole experience of travel super convenient. With the many many times I have used City Tails as Gingers sitter, Lauren and Renee have both been wonderful with Ginger. They don't just feed her and take off. They always make sure to give her attention and make sure she isn't lonely. They even do great things like water my plants for me, which is a great extra little service I haven't gotten from any other pet sitter. I never worry about them being in my home, they are very careful and completely trustworthy and always provide top notch service. They also have always been very good even with short notice. I would recommend them to anyone whether you have a cat or a dog. read more

I have a small senior dog that I adopted 2 years ago and I have never felt comfortable about boarding her at pet hotels. Having a senior dog is a blessing, but it does come with additional things to think about when you travel like making sure they get their special food or medicine and the correct amount of exercise. I usually end up taking her with me on trips because of this or driving her a few hours away to my families house so they can watch her. That is until I found City Tails!! No more worrying that she wont do well in a strange environment. No more worry that she will be lonely or over looked because she is shy. Lauren and Renee really provide me with the peace of mind that my dog is happy and well taken care of when I am away. The first time they were going to watch my dog they came over to get my keys and meet me, but they also double checked all her information with me and they made sure to spend some time getting to know her as well. wonderful dog walkers for pups of all ages. My dog happy is 6 month lab mix and is/ was a handful to walk. City tails did not seem to notice and gave my new best friend praise and love. As hard as it is to leave my pup home when I work he is in good hands. They have had dog training and encouraged me to take classes as well. They have been my go to when I need dog advice. My dog is not fond of cars as most dogs under a year. City tails comes to me and walks my dog in the neighborhood he knows. Routine is important and so is a dog walker you can trust. It is obvious that she deeply cares about the pets she takes care of, and has been the most responsible, responsive care-giver we could have asked for. I emailed Lauren asking if she had any dog walking availability, knowing they were at capacity for the services we needed based on their website. I just wanted to check on the off-chance that something had changed and they had availability. Rather than saying they were at capacity and couldn't do it and leaving it at that, she talked to me about our needs and location to figure out if they could work something out. When Lauren couldn't, she contacted some other people that might be able to help. After a day she recommended another dog walking group that contacted her to help. In the end we went with a different group that we were already talking to and didn't use her recommendation. I gave City Tails 5 stars despite not using the dog walking service because of the glimpse of caring and compassion they must show to their clients to help them in any way possible. Lauren didn't have to help me like she did, in fact a couple of other dog walkers said the same thing she did about no spots being available, but where she differs from them is that she went out of her way to enlist some walkers that could. To me, that is exceptional to go above like that and deserves 5 stars. read more

I have never before written a 5 star review for someone who I haven't even been able to hire, however Lauren deserves the stars just for our interactions. We recently moved to the city and needed a relatively last minute cat sitter for this coming weekend. We reached out to Lauren at City Tails after reading her great reviews on here. She responded to our email 3 hours later (on a Sunday afternoon) and let us know that we are not in her area, but offered to reach out to alternate sitters. Just a few hours after that email she got back to us with someone able to sit our cat, and provided background information about them. Every email was polite, friendly and enthusiastic and if 3/4 of that comes through in her daily interactions, I'd say her clients must be some of the luckiest people in SF. Lauren has been such a life saver for me and my dog. I was worried moving into the city because of the increased hours I would be away from home. I wanted a dog care arrangement that would allow my dog to socialize with other dogs and give him the exercise he needs while I am away. Lauren's small dog groups really fit the bill and put my mind at ease that my dog will be ok while I work! Also, she posts instagram pictures of your dogs throughout the day so you can get little check-ins, which is really great (she is also a great photographer). She is very responsive to texts, and understanding about schedule changes. You definitely feel like a close friend or family member is caring for your pet! I haven't tried any of her other offerings- like watching pets while out of town, etc, but I am sure she would provide the same amount of care and communication to those services as well! Lauren of City Tails has been my dog walker for almost a year now. I keep a very weird schedule and have odd and irregular dog walking needs and city tails have been extremely accommodating, many other dog walkers have minimum per week walks and won't do weekends. I work 12 hour shifts including weekends and my pooch needs to get out! If there is anything unusual about my dogs behavior, she has let me know right away, and she has also been flexible to walk another dog that I occasionally pet sit for. Lauren is an awesome cat sitter! I've had many friends and also professional cat sitters, and so far my cats have been the most chill and well-loved looking after Lauren's care. I have two elderly cats whom I love dearly, so it means a lot to me to trust someone with their well-being. Lauren has been the best! She's totally responsive to e-mails from pet sitting requests to inquiring about how they're doing in my absence. She sends regular cute photos (as if they could be anything but...) and I do get the feeling she really cares that the kitties feel secure and well-loved. I have what I lovingly refer to as my "special needs" dog who is sweet and lovable at home but very skittish in this noisy city of ours. And finding a dog walker who could handle all of Cooper's idiosyncrasies took some time. But once I met Lauren I knew she was a perfect fit! She is patient and kind and works with Cooper's issues - knowing when to push him a little beyond his comfort zone and when to let him go inside early. I've been using Lauren for almost a year now and couldn't be happier. She sends updates after every single walk and notifies me of any problems (even the littlest concern). And although I assumed that Cooper was doing well with Lauren, I was never really sure since I'm at work while they interact with each other.... until one sunny weekend not long after Lauren started, when I was out walking Cooper and we crossed paths with Lauren... Cooper went WILD! He was obviously super excited to see her, so much so that when we started to walk away Cooper was walking forward but had his head turned backwards staring at Lauren and almost walked into a pole!
