OMGosh I come from Alameda for Trish to cut my dog's hair. Jasper is joined by Cinnamon, my mom's pup. She just gives them the cutest faces! It's seems to be team based, someone washes, Trish cuts, then someone does the blow dry. I notice they Let the dogs roam around small dogs hang with Trish in the cutting area and larger breads hang out by the window ( lots of space and they don't have too many dogs at once) I can tell our babies are in good hands at Wags on Polk! I was very nervous trying a new groomer having just moved here. I actually waited six months before I finally brought my Bella in. Calling on the phone was reassuring as they were very friendly and able to get me in within a week. Upon arrival I was meant by Trish, who took care of Bella. She was very friendly and compassionate. My baby is very nervous to be dropped off into the hands of a stranger. Trish was kind and patient. 2 1/2 hours later they called saying she was ready. She looked great and very happy. For years I have driven pass this place and never go in or check it out. I have thought about it many times before of bringing some of my clients dogs here or maybe my own dogs. I then had a pleasure of speaking to John and he is awesome! They provided my emergency for a Husky and the rest is history. I only brought the Husky but then the current groomer we had for the rest of 7 dogs got cocky. They became a bit too reckless in grooming these dogs. Sometime they forgot to trim the nails, the hygiene around their butt area and the major issues was in between the paw pads. That one pisses me off the most. The numerous times I asked for simple grooming became a huge issues. Finally the day came that gives me enough ammunition to leave them for good. I left them and taking all my clients dogs here instead. Their prices are much cheaper and reasonable. The best decision so far and no regrets. Wow if I could give more stars I would! Our dog Bowie gets groomed at the space on Polk and just did his first boarding (ever) with the WAG crew. They are amazing with grooming, from the first time we brought him after his last shot Johnny was amazing to work with. I totally get why they recommend scheduling a haircut in advance because they do such a good job!! Bowie always comes home happy and excited after his grooming. They also use the best shampoo he comes home smelling like a million bucks. I can't say enough great things about the boarding experience, we were nervous for his first time away! Johnny and Jeff were super communicative and even sent us a video of all the dogs playing! Bowie came home super happy and clearly had the best time! 10/10 will be doing that again. My husband and I are so happy we found Wags! We've been using them for 3 years, I don't know where the time went. We have a now 3 yo Mini Aussie who loves to play in the dirt and needs a bath every couple of weeks. As a puppy, he was in almost every two weeks and I wish my schedule these days allowed me to bring him in as often. Ezra went in this past weekend and boy did he need a bath. Johnny and John have always made the appointment process incredibly easy. We've been lucky as they typically get Ezra in within 48 hours of calling. Each time, he comes home incredibly happy & smells incredible. He's never smelled like wet dog or excess fragrance. Additionally, when we're out of town, Ezra boards at the ranch with as I know Johnny truly cares about his well-being. We were visiting San Francisco from Las Vegas with our 3 dogs (i know, this was crazy in and of itself, but it was an urgent family matter and we didn't have anyone to leave them with in Vegas) and we realized all this walking on city streets was something they were not used to. I walked past WAGS and figured I'd give them a nail trim and one of our dogs needed a bath and grooming. Our sweet baby girl, Tina, is VERY timid and HATES being at the vet or a groomer (I've only ever taken her one time in Vegas) but when we picked her up she was SO happy, you could just tell she felt so clean and amazing! Johnny called me prior to the grooming to ask exactly how I wanted her groomed but as I didn't really know what needed to be done (our other two dogs are chihuahuas and don't require hair cuts) I told him to just do what he liked. She looks like a true princess!!!! I cannot stop smiling and looking at her!! Oh and she smells incredible too. Our two boys also got their nails trimmed and it helps SO much. One of our boys sprained his ankle at home and we think it was because he got his nail caught in our rug, while they were playing around. We still take our golden doodle here for haircut after moving to peninsula for a year. Wags so far has done the best job for our dog's haircut. The first time we took Mango over for haircut was because the store is super close to our apartment and we read some good reviews. We were very satisfied with the style and hair length, and the shampoo Wags uses smells really good. So Wags became Mango's go to groomer. We moved away from the city last summer but still come here for Mango's grooming. Also Wags save a picture of the first haircut so it's easier to describe what style to get every time which is pretty much the same as the first time. One drawback is that it's super hard to book weekend appointment here, before SIP it's usually 2 months away unless there's cancellation. read more

We adopted Rafiki a couple weeks ago and he's been super attached to me and my husband. (He came from a bad situation). Strangers scare him and he starts barking. Nothing but wonderful things to say about the team here, specifically Johnny. Our Aussie pup, Hudson, has been up at the ranch five or six times now, one of which was a two and a half week stay during our wedding & honeymoon. This is THE place to take your pup if you're traveling and can't bring him/her along. I've never seen Hudson so happy, exercised and... exhausted (he sleeps for almost two days after coming home from Wags) until we started coming here. There is something so comforting about knowing if you have to skip town for a day your pup will be well taken care of. Johnny sends live updates of how your dog is doing, so you are well informed throughout their stay. We look forward to his pictures and videos every time. They truly adore every dog and take such good care of them, it's just wonderful. Johnny even sends out newsletters about diseases going around, new vaccines to check out, and general information about dogs, just because he loves them so much and wants to continue raising awareness. Last but not least they offer a bath at the end of their stay! After a week of running around acres of land with their friends, they get a bath and blow out too... does it get better? Wags has become such an important part of our lives, we rave about them to everyone we meet, and have already been thanked by friends we've told at dog parks, because they feel the same way! Wags team, THANK YOU so much for loving and caring for Hudson as much as you do! We don't feel the least bit guilty skipping town anymore, because we know he gets his own little vacation, too! I'm writing this review after speaking with the owner. I understand that these are tough times for everyone, which is why I didn't go directly to leaving a Yelp review. I'm not a big "Yelper" and have worked in the service industry for many years. I decided to call Wags as a courtesy to let them know what had happened to my puppy, in hopes that this will not happen to any other animal that comes to this place. This was my puppy's first wet bath, and when we picked him up (after 3 hours), we immediately could tell that he was in a high stress environment. The next morning, my puppy woke up with a terrible eye infection that was crusty from all the discharge and he looked very uncomfortable. Our vet couldn't fit him in until the next day, and when we woke up he had scratched his eye (bc of the discomfort). Because his nails were so sharp and jagged after the grooming, he created abrasions on his eyelid. The vet had to put a cone on him and confirmed that the eye infection was definitely contracted at the groomers (Wags). His eye infection progressed over the last week and got so bad that his entire lower eyelid was swollen and red. He's been to the vet three times in the last week, has another checkup scheduled next week, AND has to continue wearing the cone until then. He has to be watched 24/7 to make sure he doesn't rub his eye, and is now on three different oral medications. I called wags yesterday to let them know what had happened, and the gentleman I spoke to apologized profusely and said that the own would give me a call. This morning the owner called me back and I explained the situation to him, and asked for a refund since this grooming has now cost me hundreds of dollars in vet bills. The owner proceeded to scold and belittle me for not knowing I needed to ask for the nails to be filed. Well, that was only half of the problem here. If you knew it was our first time coming in for a grooming, why wouldn't you give me the option of a nail clipping WITH filing? They gave me a refund but the owner left a bad taste in my mouth and was extremely rude and defensive. Needless to say I will not be bringing my puppy back here ever again. read more

I hate, hate, hate leaving negative Yelp reviews. Being a small business owner is hard as is, you don't need "Karens" making it harder, but dear lord! This is one of the most ridiculous grooming places I've had the displeasure of interacting with. Let me start with a preface: I have a Samoyed puppy who gets a full grooming at home every week, which takes nearly 5 hours as well as daily brushing. She has been professionally groomed twice and is generally nervous at grooming stations outside of the house. I made this clear when I scheduled the appointment. I (rightfully so) have trust issues with groomers when it comes to Samoyeds, so I don't let most groomers do her full grooming. I've taken her to Paw Spa in Suisan City and The Tails in the City in Sunnyvale. Both of which have been extremely professional, and they shared that while my pup was initially nervous and barked, she eventually settled and was great to work with. I would certainly take her back to those locations, but since she had just gotten groomed at Paw Spa last week, I just needed a quick wash, and nothing more. Given that I've lived in this neighborhood for a long time, and have walked by Wags long before I even had a dog, I figured I would give them a try. I dropped her off, and within 10-15 mins got a text saying "you need to pick her up. She's barking and making other dogs nervous." I had to rush back as I was now nervous for her. My presumption was a professional groomer has previously worked with dogs who are slightly nervous, and could manage it, but alas, I don't think Wags knows how to work with dogs. If you can't take puppies that won't sit still, and not make a sound, then consider asking those questions in advance of scheduling an appointment. I.e. 1. Has your dog been groomed before? 2. How does your dog behave in grooming sessions? 3. Describe your dog's temperament. I wasn't asked a single question. My favorite part of the interaction was when they said "maybe we can try another day, but just a little too much today." Lol no? I'm not bringing my dog around you guys ever, especially not when at pick up I walked by and didn't hear her making any noise and the handler that handed her back to me said nothing more than "she was driving us crazy." Perhaps I would've reconsidered leaving a review, but employees here are ridiculously rude. A lot of shops, bars, and restaurants on Polk St know my pup, and she's generally so calm that she's welcome at all of them. Painting her as if she's a demon for initially barking because she's nervous was uncalled for. After the interaction, I realized it was a blessing that she wasn't touched by them as I went to Yelp to read other people's experiences and noticed a Sammy had been shaved here. Took her to Bow Wow Meow just down the street after picking her up, and they were an absolute gem. I'm also concerned by the fact that they don't kennel the dogs, which is standard practice, and have them free roaming on the floor of the grooming station. Asked how they would manage potential riffs, and they said "we don't take dogs that aren't nice." How do you know though? You didn't ask me what my dog's temperament was, so highly doubt it's part of a questionnaire for others. I'm sure they're great otherwise, and you should all take every review with a grain of salt, but they're just not for us, so wanted to inform other Samoyed owners or those with pets who get nervous when groomed. read more

This place makes my life with a puppy 100x easier. They are efficient, well-priced, and super helpful. The staff here is knowledgeable and won't tell you to buy something that doesn't make sense. They are reasonable when it comes to one-offs (teeth brushing, nail clipping) and so accommodating. Our puppy couldn't touch the street yet (not full shots) and they had two staff members hold her while clipping her nails. I'll always take our dog here and I look forward to it. read more

Great big thanks to Zale and Johnny for taking good care of our little boston terrier! We're in town for a week-long conference, but even though our hotel is dog friendly, we cannot leave our dog by herself in the hotel room. So if my husband and I wanted to go on a romantic night out, we had to board our dog, because most places are closed in the evening. We looked around at all the options and Wags was our number one choice. Most of the reviews basically say the same thing, Wags and their staff truly love and care for all the dogs and cats entrusted to them. Compared to all the other boarding options, Wags seem to be the best choice for us, especially since we are not from the area and couldn't just hire a stranger from an app or an online ad to take care of our most precious little one. Other boarding places had some negative reviews (sometimes removed from their page and hidden, you just gotta look for those in cases like this) and we didn't like how they responded to their customers' concerns. At least Wags honestly put in their best effort to make matters right, if they had a complaint. They always respond with professionalism from what I can tell. At least I know that they're really trying and really care for my dog's well being. Another factor that made us want to board our dog with Wags is the fact that all the dogs are free to roam and run around in a 2 acre ranch, and that each dog is evaluated for their behavior. We felt good entrusting our dog to Wags. The store front in Polk Street is a cool little spot. I didn't get much time to shop, but it looks like they have a variety of choices for your pet. All the dogs in daycare are so sweet and friendly! I could see how people would want to view the dogs through the big window. Such a happy place :) I got to pet a couple of the bigger dogs that would pop up their head on the counter. I'd hug these bears if I could! Johnny called us after we sent a request for information about doggie boarding. He was courteous and easy to talk to, and he also clearly loves what he does! It was a relief to find someone trustworthy to leave our dog with. They also took a picture of our dog at their ranch the morning of her day there and she looks like she's having a good time! Zale was at the store front every time we came by. He's very approachable and courteous. He patiently answered all my questions and was very reassuring that all will be taken care of. He also interacted with our dog so sweetly and made her feel comfortable at her new doggie daycare. He was also easy to talk to on the phone and did an amazing job with her bath and nails! She smelled so good! Her nails are perfectly trimmed. It's unlike the many times we had it done somewhere else and it would be rough around the edges and it would get caught in my shirt or the bed sheets. AWESOME!! Our hotel didn't allow any pets in the room (even for an extra charge) so I had to leave our baby Luna to a pethotel/boarding overnight. It was heartbreaking for me because it was her first time being left with other dogs & she is really used to us being at her side esp bedtime. Honestly, We were very nervous if she would be able to eat or sleep good while we were away. But Wags exceeded our expectations!! When we picked up Luna, we saw her very comfortable and relaxed just roaming & playing around with other dogs at the shop. It was great to know that she wasn't giving the owner a hard time at the ranch. And what's great was I can tell that Luna had a great time with them!!
