I have been going to Showcase about 10 years now. I keep going back because I had that one bad experience of waxing, that told me to not go anywhere that may be close by and just wait till you go back to Cathy. What I know for sure is DON't ever try to go on a Friday evening or Sat period. That's when the Event chicks come, who NEED her to do magic come in. Everybody and there ancestors is up in there getting eyelashes done. I have only got eyelashes once, and that was when I first went. Yeah I looked Fabulous FULL on the lashes, but them $25 bad boys was OUT two days later because I was not use to my lashes being that long and it felt so weird everytime I Blinked, which in turn made me look like I had a blinking problem. Sike your mind cause your boooty don't shine, If you call yourself going first thing Saturday morning or friday after work thinking you will be the only one there.It will be about 5 Grandmas and Great Granny's out there waiting for Cathy to open up so they can get there face on. They leave there with lashes and eyebrows and they look like they just been on Oprah getting a makeover in 1 hour. I stay strictly for the eyebrows. She does not wax she shaves with a REAL razor and does her THIZZLE for real. She charges $7 for eyebrows and I think $25 and up for eyelashes. She does fake permanent moles and make up and that is pricey. If you always wanted a Marilyn Monroe mole go ahead and hook her up. The establishment is a hole in the wall for real. parking is tough to get sometimes cause you are downtown. She sells wigs but have yet to see one person buy one. She has her daughter in there doing lashes too. She only does the eyebrows. Her husband collects the money and they work them three barber seats up all day calling Blue 51 or Red 78... cause you gotta get a blue or red ticket with your number to hold a spot in the barber chair. read more

She is so skilled at what she does that people wait around for hours to have HER make them look amazing. I don't wear lashes often, but I'm here faithfully for an eyebrow touch-up. If you want nice looking eyebrows but are too scared to get them plucked, waxed, or pulled... then this is your place. I've been going here for 8 plus years (that makes me feel all old) and have only once been disappointed. Cathy is really nice and knows how to do her job fast and professionally. As with the last poster, it gets a star taken away because I have had to wait more than 45 minutes to get my eyebrows done. So my advice is... be aware that this might happen and bring some food, iPOD, school work, or anything else that can keep you preoccupied where you won't start thinking of how ridiculous the wait is. Also, don't go on Thursday or Friday and she's not open Monday. So on Thursday August 12th 2021 I've been hearing so much about Kathy's wigs which is located in Oakland from my understanding she supposed to do superb eyelash work well I decided to venture off and to see Miss Kathy on said above day my appointment is at 1:30 I had some eyelash extensions done well I had to eyelashes done they were all right she dropped eyelash glue on my clothes when I woke up Friday morning there were eyelashes individual eyelashes on my pillows there are eyelashes missing now here it is Saturday and I have more missing eyelashes so I reached out to her told her what was going on he know she had enough nerve to tell me what I'll charge you to replace them excuse my French but what type of s*** is that I got my eyelashes done on the Thursday at wake up Friday morning, my eyelashes are missing on top of that you dropped eyelash glue on me on a brand new dress that I just bought only thing you can do is say I'm sorry now for all you people out there that says Kathy does great work excuse my French but that b**** does horrible work I wouldn't refer her to my dog. So I don't know anything about the wigs here, so if that's what your looking for, then move on from my review. I came for the Cathy, the eyebrow maven who's handy with a razor blade, to tame my brazen brows. When you first walk in, it's pretty sparse, then you realize that near the back of the room is a mirrored wall with red and blue tickets and numbers hanging on it. Grab a ticket according to the service you want (one is for eyebrows, the other is for putting on eyelashes, don't remember which color is which, but you get the picture. . .), then wait your turn. It was pretty empty when I got there about 4:30 on a Wednesday. She was only working on one person, so maybe a 5 minute wait at max. Cathy works deftly and quickly. I was out in under 5 minutes. She'll pencil in your brows afterwards, but I was fine just with what was there. It's only $7 for brows, which is a great deal. I'll be back for sure. . . . read more

I've been going to Kathy for eyebrows for 25 or more years. She is quick and efficient. The only wait is if there are lots of customers. However, now that Kathy focuses on eyebrows and has semi retired, wait for eyebrows won't be long. Never heard anything other than Christian radio in her shop and I thank God for it. I love this place!!! It's definitely a mom and pop shop you can tell it's been around for awhile . Kathy services includes eyebrows , permanent makeup , eyelash extensions and wigs . I've been going here for years. In my younger years I used to get the eyelash extensions, Kathy does an Amazing job and her daughter Angie does extensions as well . I use strips now so I only go to get my eyebrows arched . She uses a razor and a Jidenna pencil that she sales for $2.00 each or you can get it at your local Walgreens . I recommend going early morning or late afternoon she's very busy on weekends. It may be a wait due to most ladies getting their eyelashes done . Parking can be hectic but there is a garage around the corner . If your parking on the street make sure to feed your meter because parking patrol is STRICT ! Overall this place will always be my go to spot for eyebrows I don't trust anyone else . And make sure you tell her exactly how you want them done, for example I ask can she leave my eyebrows thick . I been going here off and on for about 10 years every since my mom introduce me to this shop, Cathy does good work at eyebrows and lashes, but I like the way her daughter does my eyelashes. The shop is a hole in the wall spot with dusty wigs that been on the shelves since I started going here 10 years ago and it get crowded with ladies and shemales. If you plan on making a trip go early in the morning or go before Thursday or Friday to beet the crowd and have money for the meter. read more

I picked a great day to visit, and based on what I've heard I will attempt to make it my regular day and time I was in and out in under 15 min thank goodness because I or got all about getting a meter ticket o_o! Typically parking is a nightmare in this area I sure lucked up today. Whooo-eee, things sure have changed here since my 5-star review nine years ago. There must be some AMAZEBALLS rent control in Uptown because it is a mystery to me how this place is making any money. They still have wigs on the shelves, but I doubt they have sold one since I was there in 2008. The wigs have collected nine years' worth of dust in the meantime. Add to that the general hostile vibe, no one saying hello when you come in, no price tags on the merch, and the totally malevolent and decrepezoid air of disrepair. Yike! First, let me start by saying nevuh, evuh, evuh go to this place the day before a major holiday or major local event (ie. concert, the party that is the talk of the town, or Pookie's wedding). If you do you will have a very long wait. OK, moving on. This is a wig store, although I have never witnessed anyone purchase, or even look at a wig for that matter. Walk to the back and you will find Cathy diligently applying lashes; your choice of short, medium, or long. I have been going to Cathy off and on for a number of years, but now that I do my own lashes I just go for my brows. No waxing or plucking, just shaping. She shapes with a razor, and I love the way she shapes my brows the only downfall is that because she uses the razor it doesn't last very long. Only charges 7 bucks. The place is kinda seedy, but it's a well organized operation. Walk in and get a red ticket for lashes, blue for brows, and prepare for your number to be called. read more

eyebrows are 6 dollars she uses a razor and it takes like 5 mins. I only go here when im desperate and cant get to my regular eybrow shop. I like waxing better because the hair stays gone alot longer (razor causes the hair to grow back in a week). She actually makes them to thin for my liking. read more

Its true. you should NEVER go on a friday or saturday unless you get there before they open. However, Cathy is super fast.
