I have taken more than a month to settle down before writing this review, so I can offer information that is helpful, and not hot-headed. (Yes, I can laugh now!) Our HOA hired Show Me to clean up the scrub that was hanging in the retention pond, and specifically, an area where the outfall was blocked by a small, downed scrub tree. The fellow who gave us the estimate did not see a need to walk five houses down from our address to view that specific area. (Indulge me as I remind you it is the "Show Me Tree Service".) He seemed confident it would not take more than a day. He was on time, courteous and explained how they would tackle the job, which included putting a boat in the water to drag branches out and onto the easment next to our house. Sounded like they had done this before. If you are considering hiring any tree service, I recommend the following: Get it all in writing. Never pay a flat day fee without knowing how long the day will be, whether it includes breaks, and how long those breaks will be. Is the clock ticking while they stand and scratch their heads because the guy who gave you the estimate never communicated the specifics of the job to the foreman? Is transportation time counted as part of that day? If it is, how much time is it? Ask how/if the day rate is re-configured if a machine should break down for half the day ( and yes, they have to come back another day, which means more transportation time chipping away at the clock). If you say you have a boat you can put in the water, will you actually use the boat? What circumstances would make you decide not to use the boat? Be sure to mark all the trees you do not want them to touch- even if you think it is far away enough from the job that they couldn't possibly make that mistake! Waiting chainsaws=itchy fingers! See photos below of 4 year old tree that was originally naturally landscaped to the ground to help obstruct the "lovely" view across the way. This tree was nowhere near the retention pond they were contracted to clear (one foot from my fence), and it clearly wasn't "scrub". They did, however, leave scrub trees that were right on top of the water. Oh, and the excuse for why THAT particular tree was shaved and garbage scrub was left? He didn't know. He thought he was here to "clean up" the retention pond near our lot only. They were nice, courteous, and on time. It did not make up for the poor communication, disorganization and an awful lot of standing around. I blame myself because the signs were there. Ask all the questions and heed all I suggested above and you may have better luck. We cut our losses. read more

Show Me Tree Service did work at my home on June 20, 2023. They removed the trees, they removed the debris, but didn't grind stumps. Unprofessional and unorganized. On their business card it clearly sates stump grinding so why my stumps weren't is puzzling to me. The required work was not completed with reasonable skills and care using materials of suitable quality. The work was not completed to the standard to be expected of a reasonably competent professional. They failed to fulfill my statutory obligations. Excellent following up weekly to get the business but once the job was done and damaged done, not even one called back. The irrigation line was completely disconnected in one small area that could have been handle carefully removing only one small bush. We had a large red maple tree in our backyard that had to be removed as it was too close to the house. I called four companies for estimates and only two even returned my call. The first company did not work in our area. Thankfully, Van, the owner of Show Me Tree Service, came out and gave us a written estimate. We contracted for the work to be done and, as promised, the team of 5 came out as scheduled. The team did a great job in a tight area and left the area spotless. Not one leaf landed on my neighbor's yard. It really was a sight to see how carefully they took down and removed very large branches using a pulley system. I contracted with SMTS to re-anchor a drainage pipe in our detention pond. The contract called for screw in / augur style posts to retain the pipe. That was not used. The retention posts used failed in the first rainfall following the "repair." SMTS has failed to date to honor the original contract or the warranty provided with the HOA payment. SMTS now states that new posts are on order. This issue has gone on for six months. read more

These guys are phenomenal!!! They have a great business name as they showed me that they are very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, respectful of your home and the surrounding trees that you do not want damaged, they are timely and work hard. The man cutting the trees is a master at his trade he decide where the tree was going to fall and he was on point. Everyone worked hard and wasted no time in moving all the debris, in the end they cleaned everything up and left no sign they were even there other than the trees were gone. On top of everything else the prices were highly competitive with no sacrifices in services. I highly recommend this company. read more

I could not be more pleased with Show Me Tree Service! I needed to have a tree cut down. I emailed for a free quote and the next day they were at my house to assess. They were by far the most affordable quote I received so we decided to use them. The day they were scheduled the weather was terrible, so it had to be rescheduled but the company kept in touch with us, updating us on the new day and the new time, they had the tree removed quickly and not only cleaned up all of the debris, but even raked up some existing piles of leaves i had in the yard already! All of the workers were polite and the work was fantastic! I have a few more trees i would like trimmed and when the time comes i will use them FOR SURE! read more

Show Me Tree Service cracked the hell out of my driveway and sidewalks by driving and using their loaded heavy tree service truck on top of them, They did not put down any boards or plywood sheets of any kind to protect the concrete, being a naïve homeowner I did not realize service companies are responsible for damaging sidewalks and driveways and new concrete is required at their expense. They left me with finger size chunks of concrete that had popped clear out of the concrete as it cracked and sunken freshly cracked sections of driveway & sidewalk concrete . I recently had complete breaking off of the upper half of a large hickory tree the result of Show Me Tree Service's pruning a tree. That trees center was a large rotten section especially at the break going right up to the big hole in the tree where Show Me Tree Service had pruned off a limb. I had another tree that originally had a limb hanging over my home that Show Me Tree Service also cut off the limb flush with the tree and angled to literally catch rain water. At best the cut off area healed an inch or two around the circumference of the several square foot cut-off face, but the remaining square feet of exposed wood at the cut rotted away leaving a large hole, finally with hole on that side of the tree as to leave no doubt (the damage was all lined up running straight down from the big hole) it started losing bark, getting insects, and eventually it even had mushrooms growing all over it (again all in line with the cut-off hole clear twenty feet high all the way down to the ground).. When that tree failed to get any leaves at all after a the winter it was obviously DOA and I had to have it cut down. Instead of growing over and healing at the cuts, they rotted at the cut and the rot spread down. Unfortunately I believe of all the trees Show Me Tree Service cut large limbs off of none of the cut-off sections have ever healed over. Sadly it seems like when bare wood (w/o bark) faces the weather it rots and all literally goes down hill from there especially the rot. read more
