This is a great breakfast burrito spot. I have been going to this place for about 5 or so years and highly recommend it. You would never expect a great burrito from inside a gas station but here it is. They have an all meat burrito and it's pretty awesome. Don't expect anything fancy when you are ordering but after that first bite it will all be okay. This is a must try spot. Seriously Another great stop at short stuff Café. I've seen the topic of "best breakfast burrito in Roseville" come up several times on local social media message boards, and this place is always mentioned in the comments over and over. So one day last summer when we were on the go and didn't have time to sit down somewhere and eat, I finally remembered to check this place out. BRILLIANT! Why aren't there more places like this on travel routes? For the same amount of money you would spend on fast food, you get something so much better! It's not your traditional Mexican burrito, but more like a thoughtfully prepared potato and egg breakfast that's been made portable. The ladies are great, but not super outgoing. They're there to make your breakfast, and a mighty fine one at that. I've also noticed that other commenters have downvoted this place because they prepare food bare handed, and I'd like to mention one thing in fairness... After having worked with several catering companies, I think i can safely say that whenever you go anywhere and have your food prepared by someone else, more often than not, there were no gloves used. Alright, it's only fair to start with some background. Ten plus years ago I worked right down the street from Short Stuff. Coworkers told me it was good, and despite my skepticism of food from a Chevron gas station, I tried it out and was very impressed. They made my burritos fresh right in front of me and I remember them fondly. After going with some frequency for a couple of years I moved out of the area. Fast forward to today. I moved back to Rocklin late last year and was telling my wife about Short Stuff. She shared in my initial skepticism about food from a gas station but after showing her raving Yelp reviews said she'd try it. Sadly, we tried to go a few times and they were always closed. But today was my day... I had extra time this morning and decided to drive 15 min to get a burrito, though I figured my wife would be bummed that I went without her. I called to make sure they were open and was told yes by someone who seemed to be less than happy to be there and hung up without a "bye." Whatevs, I'm going for the food, not the service. Upon arriving, the Chevron isn't a particularly clean nor well kept one. Obviously not Short Stuff's fault but still not what you love to see from a place you are about to buy food from. I walked up and there was one customer standing there. I wasn't sure if he was waiting to order or already had and looked towards the employee for guidance. She stared blankly back at me and it was clear this was the same person who answered the phone. After a brief moment of awkwardness, and realizing she wasn't going to be the first to crack, I asked if I ordered with her. She nodded and I asked for David's Burrito. To my shock and dismay, she opened up a warming drawer filled with premade burritos and handed me one. I asked if they had hot sauce, quickly after realizing I was a dumb dumb and there were a bunch on a tray on the counter, and the lady just looked in their direction without a word. But again, I thought to myself, I remembered this being good (even if not from a warming drawer) and I was here for the food, not the service. I got home and the burrito was still reasonably warm - something I was happy to see. I quickly dug in. Sadly, as with most things that sit in a warming drawer for God knows how long, it had all kind of congealed together into a warm soggy consistency, with no crisp from the bacon or the green onions. About halfway into it I thought, "dang, this is a bit salty," and poured on more hot sauce. By the time I was to the bottom portion of the burrito, I encountered a strong burnt food taste in several bites. The culprit being a blackened potato that despite being charred, was also a soggy like the rest of the burrito. All in all, it was a blessing in disguise that I didn't bring my wife since she would have lost faith in my recommendations. The only reason I am giving three stars is because at $5.99 it's reasonably priced and because I do have fond memories from the past but after today's visit, 10+ years later, I'm sad to say it's unlikely I'll return. Premade food in a drawer, less than friendly attitudes and a dirty atmosphere ruined it for me and I'll continue my hunt for a great breakfast burrito. read more

I would leave a negative star or no stars if possible. We have been going here for many, many years. Although the food is good, the attitude of the employees is terrible. I have never given anyone a negative review as I believe everyone is entitled to an "off" day. Unfortunately, this establishment has had more "off" days than "on" days and I won't tolerate it anymore. We had stop getting food from them due to negative experiences every time we stopped by. We were in the area and thought we would try one more time. The hours listed online are not the hours they honor. They decide to close the kitchen when it suits them. Saturday hours are 11am closing. We arrived at 10:38 and the kitchen was closed. They were still cleaning up so I asked what time they closed and and their reply, "The hours state are 11 but we closed now." I then asked what time I needed to arrive to get food. "At 10:30", was her answer. I suggested they change the hours to 10:30 so customers know what to expect. "Talk to the manager" was her reply. I kindly told her I would not contact the manager as I would not be returning because I had too many negative experiences with them and frequently arrived to find the kitchen closed early. Her reply "that's fine, we have plenty of customers." What? Is that how an employee should treat a customer? I told her, "and the other reason, is bad attitudes from the employees". The employees proceeded to talk amongst them, finding it humorous that I would not be back and not caring. The gas station where this establishment is located is great. I feel sorry for them as I know their employees get a lot of complaints about Short Stuff employees. Stay away! Support businesses that care about their customers!! read more

Based on what it is, it gets 5 stars. Is it spectacular? Am I dreaming of at night? No, but for a gas station on-the-go meal for less than 5 bucks, its a home run. The pictures were somewhat deceiving where I thought it had a little more dining space than two tables but I can get over that. The two ladies working the grill are friendly, but no nonsense, are hard working. It is just what you want when you are on the go. They specialize in breakfast items, particularly breakfast burritos and sandwiches and then serve lunch (burgers and sandwiches) after 11am. Everything on the menu is between $4-5. You get your drinks within the store. Take the ticket up front and pay. My sandwich was full and hearty. It definitely hit the spot. I will be back again. Normally ya wouldn't think there's any good food at gas stations beyond Funyons and pork rinds, but I'll tell you what, some of the best food I've had in a casual setting has been at gas stations! Everything from Mexican food, to deli sandwiches, Thai food even, can be had a eateries attached to gas stations. Heck, one of the best Indian food places I've been is in the back of a liquor store at Lake Tahoe! But this place, it a great place inside the Chevron Gas Station right in my own neighborhood in Roseville! I don't know if these great eateries attached to gas stations are operated independent of the gas station or not, I'm kinda guessing they are. This place has great breakfast choices for those workin' class boys that build and fix stuff out there dressed in bright orange or yellow green. Great wraps of compact on the go food. There's a few tables to sit, but most take the food to go. I was here getting lunch and the burger selection is pretty good and way better than any fast food joint and cheaper too! I got a Cheeseburger for less than 5 bucks, a sandwich at Jack in the Box will cost me more than that! Plus this was a 1/3 lb patty and cooked to order. No fries here though, cause I don't think they have a deep fryer, but you can get any chips from the station store to go with it. Not a date place restaurant that's for sure, but a great place to come and get breakfast or lunch even if you don't need gas. I really like this place. Jetting across the busy streets I stood there for a moment, looking around, slightly bewildered. I heard a voice inside say, "Go inside the Chevron station." OK. That was completely unexpected. Gas station mini market with a very small kitchen and counter area (back left). Room to seat about 8 on the right as you walk in. Gum, chips, oil .. the usual sundries adorn the market. But the smell of food wafting led me directly to the hot fresh food. There were two gals cranking out breakfast burritos. Vegetarian and Meat burritos; regular stuff and specialty burritos. The Meat Lovers burrito was the first I saw and decided that was the one for me. I chose the small size. Good thing too; the small was more than enough. The grilled tortilla stuffed with freshly scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, and other goodness. A simple design with terrific flavor. The pictures just aren't fair. The "Short Stuff Cafe" is a small counter inside the Chevron mini-mart on Eureka Rd (Directly across the street from Fat's Asia Bistro). Order at the cafe counter, pay to the left over where you buy your gas and mini-mart items, then wait for your order to be called-out back at the cafe counter. It took about 10 minutes for my "Dan's" breakfast burrito to be made hot off the grill. Inside the grilled flour tortilla: Scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, potatoes, green onions, pepper Jack and cheddar cheese. There's a bunch of bottled hot sauces available at the counter as well as a container of what looked (and tasted) like a fresh tomato salsa (about medium heat). Sliced jalapenos were also available to dress your burrito. There are two tables inside the cafe (4 and 3 top) and two more outside the cafe in a covered patio area (both 4 tops). The burrito tasted great! All the ingredients blended well and I could easily taste the individual ingredients in each bite. The fresh salsa added the perfect amount of heat. After reading the reviews, my wife and I came here for brunch on Monday morning. It is exactly as described. A little kitchen in the back of a Chevron with a woman working the grill and a man taking the orders. The menu is to the left, the hot sauces are in front, and after you order you take the ticket to the normal gas station cash register where you will be rung up by a friendly attendant. My wife was torn between the grilled cheese and a BLT, so the guy behind the counter suggested a fusion, which turned out to be a great idea. Melty cheese, crispy bacon, fresh produce, and grilled sourdough, perfectly executed. I got the Frank's burrito and added a Louisiana hot link. It, too, was delicious and steamy. The salsa complemented it well and I didn't feel too stuffed after, but neither was I still hungry. Our total for the meal was around $10, which is a steal given the quality and quantity. After some medical appointments at Kaiser I decided to give it a try. You order at the counter and pay where you would pay if you bought gas of items in the store part of the gas station. I am a vegetarian so my review is non-meat so that is why it is not a 5 star. There is no need to get the large size as a large is gigantic. There are a ton of hot sauces on the counter but a word to the wise would be to let her know before hand that you are adding otherwise she will roll it up then you will try and unroll to add the hot sauce and have a mess on your hands. I was in search of a great breakfast burrito and this is definitely the place to go. They generally have a few ready to go. I have learned to order ahead as I generally order a half dozen or so. The "Dan" burritos are fresh and are a great value. They're loaded with eggs, potatoes, cheese, bacon, ham, sausage, and green onions. They are well balanced and made to order with tender loving care. They have an impressive hot sauce and salsa bar and have to go packets of a number of sauces, including Tapatio. The staff is always working hard and I'm always sure to throw a few bucks their way. Whether you order ahead or when you arrive, you pay at the same counter the Chevron station they are inside uses. This is the worst experience I've ever had in my life. I have been here multiple times after today I will never be returning again. There is no structure there is no order there is nothing I ordered and waited 30 minutes for my food. That was after I reminded them that they didn't have my food. It amazes me how many people don't know this place exists. The short stuff cafe is the real deal Holyfield. Next level sort of thing. I used to go here all the time back in the day to gas up my buddies boat before we hit the early morning water at Folsom lake. Fill your boat tanks with gas, fill "your" tank with a great burrito. These burritos are sizable. Not something you want to eat every morning because it's not the healthiest but a flavor bomb that's worth a go. I came here on the advise of fellow yelpers and as it is close to my residence I thought it be wise to open my mind and give it a go. I order Bob's. A breakfast burrito which has eggs, sausage and green peppers. While I was waiting I noticed a large number of condiments. Some popular items like ketchup and some custom made like the hot sauce. Impressive. So the burrito was freshly cooked to order. It was BIG. It was TASTY! For breakfast, this has to be one of the best places around if one burrito is anything to go by. I will be back. Many times. Forget Denny's, Ihop and all of those places that allow you to sit down, drink weak coffee and serve you portion controlled tasteless crud. Come here and treat yourself to a REAL breakfast burrito that actually tastes of egg, sausage and whatever else you want to throw in there. This is a hidden gem. You never would have guessed that the greatest breakfast burritos are inside a gas station. It may seem sketchy at first (I never trust gas station food) but it's technically not actual gas station food because they have their own little area in the back of the shop. My friend and I got the bobs and Franks burrito and it did not disappoint! They were a pretty good size (not too big and not too small) and were very filling! They were tasty and very hot when we got them meaning that they were freshly made. Will definitely be coming back! read more

He's had the dans, the Denver, and I think the meat lovers. He loves the burritos here and so do i! Was super excited to try this place gas stations or not. Walked in. Watched one lady cooking while the other lady PLAYED a video game on her phone ( I know because the volume was all the way up!) swiping touching the phone with no gloves with both hands for a solid 3-4 min. Then a burrito was up, put the phone in her pocket grabbed it with both hands, rolled t threw cheese ect NOT WASHiNG her hands. Disgusting. I walked out.
