I guess I was looking lost - staff member came up to me asking what I was looking for and took me right to the shelf I needed. And it wasn't the first time. Lots of discounts throughout the store. They all work if you have a membership card. Sometimes you can find "double" sales. The store would have a sale and you can use an extra coupon. Make sure to clip the coupon in the app before you go to the register. I usually go to self-checkout. You can run your membership after you scan all the items, but coupons have to be clipped before you do that. Overall a nice and clean store with friendly staff.

I looked at a few of the items on the rack and all items were on sale at 40% to 60% not 70% off not one single item on the rack. Talked with 2 Managers. One agreed with my respective along with the sales girl. Went to other 70% off sale racks in the store and there wasn't 1 item with 70% off. Again 60 to 40% off. What a racket. Watch out for them. Oh by the way did I say I looked at the rack for several weeks. Same clothes there. Nothing for 70% off.

Every time I go in there now the employees are rude, short, abrupt and act put out to help you. They have a ton of self check out lines now and usually one or two actual checkers working. So either you are doing the work yourself or waiting in a long line. It is without fail that something rings up more than it should and I ask the employee working in the self check out line to help. I am usually met with annoyance and a "cant you figure this out" attitude. No, I haven't been trained in your system and don't know the nuances of being a checker. Lets talk about prices. They are over the top more expensive than Winco or Walmart and often, Fred Meyers. They have digital deals but they are a pain in the arse to use and half the time they don't ring correctly at the check out stand. So, why come here? That is the question. Rude employees and high prices. I don't know what has happened with management because the culture used to be kind employees and now, I feel like I would get better service at Walmart, which is saying a lot. I will choose other stores from now on to shop for groceries.

So sorry, Safeway: my vote will always go to Spuds. They stock much harder to find items (rum-barrel aged maple syrup, high-end tinned fish, fresh pasta, so on) and have a lovely housewares department and a hot food counter with a good selection of more than just soggy Chinese and jojos. There is a dining area and a Starbucks, the floral department looks great, and I love their wine selection. Ample parking, friendly staff, and conveniently close to both 101 and lots of other shopping.
