Came here for the first time and it was an enjoyable round. Practice facilities are solid. Plenty of stalls on the range although they are a little small and could use an update. The putting and chipping areas are large with plenty of space for practice. The service in the pro shop was excellent, really cool people who are helpful. The course was in decent condition and it was challenging. Lots of hazards to navigate and the greens are challenging but fair. read more

Played here this past Sunday for a friend's birthday, probably hadn't played here in 5ish years and I was impressed by the conditions of the greens and course in general. We had a foursome of golfers with all skill levels, so we did a scramble format which ended up being really fun. The course has a lot of hazards, dog leg holes, and fairway bunkers. This course has a lot of risk/reward type shot opportunities which is great if you can drive the ball well off the tee. I found this to be the best part of the round because I took the risks every time and this round it worked out. Either way, best to bring a good amount of golf balls, especially if you are a beginner. We had an early morning tee time and we thought it would be quick but the group in front of us had other ideas. No marshalls on the course to regulate pace of play, no drink cart either, all room for improvement . Green fees with a cart were $87 on the weekends before twilight. Playing in a tournament here next month, so I'll definitely be back. read more

Good driving range with plenty of stalls. The course itself is good as well. It is kept in great shape and is challenging enough for me. Green fees are on par with the other muni courses in the area. Marshals were rushing us through our entire game because there was a tournament starting behind us. We were keeping pace the whole time so it felt really unnecessary for them to be pressuring us as much as they did. We played a full 18 holes; four of us only peed once the whole time and we didn't stop at the turn for a snack or break or anything. Our round ended at just under 5 hours, which feels like an average amount of time. It made the experience more uncomfortable and stressful than it needed to be. It feels as though the scheduling manager needs to adjust to add more time in between tournament tee times as to avoid this. There were also a literal million holes on the grounds that squirrels were running in and out of. Lost many balls to them. And could have twisted an ankle easily , be careful out there. read more

GOLFERS BEWARE! As a Bay Area golfer, I feel obligated to warn others about a frustrating experience at this course due to a lack of transparency and purposely misleading customers by Shoreline Golf Links' management. Our group had an early Saturday (4/12) tee time and made the 40 minute drive out, only to find out at check-in that the greens had just been aerated a few days ago. We told the staff that there was No notice of this on their website (which was where we booked) or golfnow. What's worse is when we asked about a discount they said no, and they asked us what we wanted to do. At this point, we didn't have much of a choice as it was too late to book anywhere else and everyone from our group was already there. To make matters even worse, 2 greens were under full construction with temporary greens in play. Again, not mentioned on their website and this time not even a warning from their staff. It's one thing to aerate your greens. Every course does it. But it's another to knowingly keep golfers in the dark and still charge full rates. I can deal with the thousands of gopher holes, fairways being in rough shape, and geese poop everywhere. What I won't deal is purposely being misled by management. If you have the ability to plaster a pop-up about your spring fling tournament across your homepage, you can certainly let customers know that the greens won't be in playable shape. Needless to say, we won't be returning, and I'd recommend others think twice before booking here. read more

Stopped by for my first time to check out the range. Met Lance at the pro shop and it couldn't have been a better first impression. Incredibly nice, went out of his way to make me feel welcome. He told me about the course and what to expect. Now I can't wait to play here for the first time. Good job, Lance! The range is 1-story. I think I read ~40 bays. This is solely for the driving range practice area. Lots of practice room. Machine is easy to use. There are 3 sizes of buckets small, medium, and large. Great price point. I love the fresh air and the views. Right next to Michael's where you can get an affordable lunch or beverage of choice. Parking can be tough during peak times. Best to park further away and walk. read more

Do not purchase a range card here - I loaded $100 onto it, a charge that went through, only to find that when I tried to use the range card, there was an insufficient balance error message. Turns out there was no record of the funds being added. I was given no receipt either - just the charge to my card so had no means of seeking a refund. The gentleman at the pro shop also straight up lied to me when I asked him to print out the transaction history - he said this wasn't a capability they could do. I pushed back as I've been able to see a transaction history. He then rolled his eyes and clicked in for the printout which did not include the funds added. They are outright STEALING money from folks that are naive enough to use their range cards and should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Friendly staff and beautiful views! I have only used the range, putting green and chipping green but so far this is the best practice spot near Mountain View. I've spoken with Peter a few times and he's really nice and given me some tips. It's really peaceful to play in the evening - lots of wildlife starts coming out which I enjoy watching - raccoons, owls, coyotes and even bob cats! My constructive feedback would be that I wish the flags out on the range had chipping quality greens beneath them (some of them are just dirt) and I wish the lights illuminated the far end of the range better. The lighting is very important on as we turn our clocks forward for daylight savings and I can't get off work until 6pm on weekdays. read more

Played just the front 9 today. This is definitely a difficult muni course. From white tees, the front 9 has a decently lengthy par 3 that is guarded in front by both water and a bunker and it's probably my favorite hole here so far. On several other holes, there are fairway bunkers as well as bunkers closer to the green that aren't exactly that close (you'll need a strong enough swing out of the sand to land on the green). For $23 for 9 holes, I'll take it over some of the par 3 courses in the area which cost the same and are much easier. The greens are incredibly fast, requiring lots of spin to land approach shots. Only downside I will say is that some holes will get a bit goose poopy (although not as horrendous as some other courses I've been to) and the sand is muni quality sand - don't expect it to be super fluffy. Some fairways are also littered with divots or squirrel holes, the former I'd hope the management can try to make an effort to fill in more often. I really have high hopes for making this my future go-to course as it provides more of a challenge than SJ or Sunnyvale muni and is not hard on the wallet. DO NOT PLAY HERE. Greens were in good shape and the fairways were fine. The problem was a squirrel issue on the course. Three of the four golfers in our foursome will need to purchase new golf bags because the squirrels ripped holes or ripped the zippers on our bags trying to get to our food. Spoke to the GM who was polite and sympathetic. He said they have had complaints about squirrels destroying bags near the clubhouse but not on the course. I assured him and gave him which holes we saw the squirrels getting in our bags. Our bags were zipped close. He apologized and that was it. read more

First of all, they charge you per person for a golf cart, not per golf cart. So say you're walking and one is using a cart and then both of you use the cart because that's just idiotic. Now the course... this course charges $60-$80 for a course that's barely maintained. Course conditions are awful here, it's worth $12-$20 max. If you don't hit the fairway, forget it. If you hit the fairway you'll land in a dirt patch, squirrel hole, snake hole, geese poop and etc.. about 50% of the fairways are grass the rest is awful, even after all this rain. The amenities and food are okay but who cares I'm trying to golf. I won't be going back here again, there are WAY better courses around here. read more

Infested with mosquitoes(9/17/23). 60-70 bites all over the body. Couldn't hit a single shot, nor putt without 20 mosquitoes trying to feast on me. By the 9th hole, mosquito bites became unbearable and had to call it a day. I had informed the pro shop of the situation, and to my surprise, they were already well aware of the situation. Welll then, why not inform your players beforehand? Why don't you accommodate your guests with at least a repellent spray before the round begins? Or better yet, shut down the course until you have theo situation under control. Sadly, all they care about is $$$ up front. Well, they lost my business here. This was absolutely the worst experience I had in playing golf. And will never be coming back. read more

My review is not only about the golf course but the accommodation Shoreline management did to make the St. Augustine Church golf tournament a success. Let me start on how management helped this fundraising set up and assisted to make sure that all players are comfortable. It made us golfers relaxed and enjoyed 18 holes of fun and exciting tournament. They set up booths for the organizers and all golfers checked in and we were given instructions on where to start. It's a shotgun start and all golfers have to go to their designated holes. There's a marshal that guided us to the holes for those golfers that are not familiar with the course. After the tournament, the organizers had a buffet dinner and program at one of their venues. Shoreline catered the food and the food are good and generous. We are surprised at how this event turned out to be a success and all participants walk away satisfied and content. So I'm giving Shore Line management a 5-star for this event. On the golf course, it is a different story. One thing positive is how wide the fairway is on all the holes. The par 3 holes are challenging with a cliff/water in front on the green and the wind gusting in different directions. On the white tees, the par 4 are reachable on your 2nd shot and give you a chance for par or birdie. The greens are also challenging and you have to read the greens for your putts. On the negative side, the conditions of the fairways are not conducive for average golfers. The ball might lie on tight lies or grounds that are not maintained. Maybe because of the water rationing, they don't irrigate some of these fairway grounds. If you're playing in the afternoon, you'll see the strong winds going in different directions. You either change the direction of your ball flight or change your golf club choice to reach the greens. So I'm giving a 3 star on the golf course. Usually I have no issues here, but today was unacceptable. I brought my uncle who is handicapped to join me today so of course we are going to rent a cart. Told the golf pro shop my uncle can't walk so we need a cart. The older guy told us no because they had a tournament today and said sorry when there are literally 20+ carts outside ready to use. Saying we can't rent a cart with someone with a disability is complete BS! Never experienced this anywhere else where tournaments were hosted. read more

Considering the location and cost of a Bay Area muni course this is the poorest maintained place within 50 miles. If you want to play golf where even if you hit it in the middle of the fairway your lie is on dirt or in a gofer hole this place is great. Plenty of geese on the course, plenty of ground squirrels on the course, no marshals, & no starter. If you enjoy golf you will hate this course. read more

A Challenging course for the golfer who is looking for a change from country club golf

Look, I don't know what all the fuss is about. It's a difficult course, yes, it's not in the best condition, granted, but for 30 bucks you get six hours of golf. And it's not slow golf, and for a muni it's pretty hard. High winds, a difficult green complex with many false fronts, it's pretty fun. I hope you give it a shot! It's been over 10 years since I've played here. TeeOff had a deal of $38 with cart at 12:02PM on Friday, I and some friends booked to play without paying any fees. It was a quiet afternoon, the fairways are ok with uneven grass after a few weeks of heavy rains. The greens are healing from the aeration a few weeks ago. Some greens still have some sands but the grass is growing nicely. It's a long golf course if you play black, white is quite short with 6000 yards. Some holes are quite windy especially with par 3, you do need 2 clubs more than normal or you'll short in the lake or ravines. In a few weeks, the greens would heal completely and they will be nice. Some greens are not very large, the ground is hard, balls would bounce more and off the green easily. The bunkers are still wet on some, hard rock under, no soft sands at all. Some holes the sands are being fixed. I'll try this course again. The price is reasonable and the course is not bad. There are some challenging holes. read more

This is one of my favorite courses.... It's not professionally manicured, but what it does have is unlike any other course in the Bay Area. It does NOT KILL animals. You can play golf and know that animals are not being poisoned for your entertainment. There is an abundance of wildlife and birds... you golf along a lake where you watch paddle boats and kayaks, birds singing everywhere. Way too expensive for the condition of this course. This course is overrun with geese, squirrels, and rabbits. I was hoping for a low pressure golf experience, and was surprised to find that we were paired with a group of people with varying levels of experience and limited knowledge of proper golf course edict. The bathrooms on the course were not maintained. One of the other players I was stuck with snatched my ball after my drive. The fairways were littered with divets and squirrels holes. read more

This course relies on a third-party service to handle calls. The person over the phone told me that the range was open that night until 8PM. So I get there a little after 6:30 and the pro shop is locked. I see a gentleman inside and got his attention. He came up to the door and I told him how I was informed that they were open and the lights would stay on til 8. He literally started laughing, turned around and walked away. He could not have been more rude or less sympathetic. Just horrible customer service. Had he been even the slightest bit understanding or sorry, I would not have written a review. But I was just so taken aback by his response that I had to share. This place needs to get its act together. No wonder it's reviewed so poorly. read more

Went for the driving range! They have very easy parking. $12 for 60 balls or $16 for 100 balls, they accept credit cards. We didn't have to wait for our spot, but they were full the whole time we were there. Only food and drink options were from a cooler that the club is using as their snack shack and they accept only cash or they take down your credit card information on paper. read more

I don't mind the grass condition but there are way too much geese poop: on the fairways, tee areas, greens - cannot putt. On the weekdays, it is not crowded. So I have a time scheduled for this weekend and I wanted to come check out the course practice on the range for a while. However, I was going In the shop to buy a new glove and confirm my t time and also ask about the carts, normal questions anyone would ask when coming to a new course. But I was completely thrown off by the Asian dude. He was rude and had a very ugly attitude. I asked him about the carts and he litteraly did not want to answer my question and said go look on line. So me and one of the other lady's started talking. She was waiting in line and answered my question (she didn't work there) so I asked the Asian dude why he was so rude. All he did was turn around and said "I just work here, go look online" I'll still give this place a try this weekend only because it's set with the fellas. But I hope that guys adjust his attitude. Coming and spending over 100$ for a unkept course and rude service is crazy. Oh yes! Also, the lady recommended that when we come to just tell them 2 of us are using carts because they will try to charge us per person. So just say it's for my self and my buddy can hop on. Seems like they are doing the bare minimum and not carrying about our experience at the moment, they are trying to get as much money out of us as possible in the short amount of time. WOW, just golfed here this last weekend "8/19/18" The greens were in good condition as well as the fairways. As most golf courses, they are seeding in various places this time of year. But none that get to much in your way.The pace on the golf course was excellent, the starter off of the first tee had everyone spaced out perfectly. I enjoyed myself very much on this course. I've recently picked up golf again after a year of hiatus. My old golf mates still have their once a week ritual and I've joined them for a round at Shoreline. There used to be only golfnow.com for discount tee time, but now there are some other ones like teeoff.com. Anyway, they got a super good deal for a noon tee time, with cart. The course is in better shape than a year ago. The green is more reasonable, the fairway is not as patchy. Once you get to the later after of back 9 and reach the Google's outdoor activity area, it could get a bit noisy. 4 stars for the improvement, kudos to the ground keeper! btw, the ground keeper has a husky running around the course with him. Sometimes the dog just run across the fairway, could be annoying to some people. read more

The course isn't the best maintained course, even by muni course standards. They've cut back a lot of the random shrubbery which is nice, but the grass wasn't in the best shape when I went previously. The winds can be pretty vicious. Prices are pretty high for what you get. There are other muni courses you're better off going to. A nice bonus is that you get to listen to music when there's a concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater. read more

Seems like a lot of variability to reviews for good ol' Shoreline Links. Here's my take: - A good, but challenging Muni course. Challenge depends a fair amount on the wind that day, which is usually strong, but not always. When the gusts hit you, the par 4's play more like par 5's - Fair amount of water. Theoretically, I believe it is in play on 8-9 holes, though for some only barely. - Wide open, but accuracy rewarded. The fairways look very open, and they are, but this course will reward the smarter player that looks for the best 2nd shot, and not just where you can land safely from the tee. - Lots of geese, yes, and their droppings. No doubt about it, but it didn't interfere with my play much (aside from almost beheading one, on a wormburner I hit...the closest I got to a birdie that day) - Back 9 is a leg stretcher. If you walk the course, like I did, the back 9 is a lot longer, where there are considerable distances between holes and the next tee box. It's not bad, but on a searing day it's quite a workout. Overall, a good solid muni course. Some say it's a little spendy, but it seems in line to me compared to similar courses. read more

Solid golf course at a decent price. True, I haven't played a full 18 holes of golf in years, so the course was a bit painful. For the price ($66 per person with a cart), the course was pretty with a fair number of scenic (and treacherous) water hazards. There is some construction occurring on the back 9 which is a bit annoying (but there are rules on how you deal with the construction hazards...which I had to apply). You'll find a lot of geese (and their droppings); geese seem to love golf courses... As the marshal told us, the recommended time to complete the course is 4 hours and 20 minutes, and they definitely come by often to check to make sure you're keeping time. read more

Was ready for a memorable day playing with my boys in their first shotgun shuffle event. We started with 2 teams on our hole, and not once did they ever get close enough to talk to us or get held up. However, the Marshall's were constantly on our asses from hole #2 and didn't stop belittling us. What a great first experience for 2 kids learning to golf. These guys ruined our day by constantly distracting us from playing golf and having fun. Expecting us to play each hole in 7-10 minutes. I was ready to just leave, but instead we skipped 3 holes so these guys would leave us alone. It worked. Highlight of the day, was beverage cart bringing us 3 dogs as no coffee or breakfast snacks were provided by the event. Course is wide open, crazy volumes of squirrels and too many ankle breaker holes to count. This course needs a massive overhaul. I'm going back to Palo Alto Baylands, were you can enjoy your golf day without being pushed to go faster than necessary, or sprain an ankle everywhere u step....mosquitos galore...$10 for 35 range balls, really?....it could have been a 5 star review......if these are workers paid by the City of Mountainview, the city should be ashamed of their customer service, other than the restaurant...never will I be back again!!! read more

Played a round of golf today. Hadn't played here in years and probably won't play here again. The staff were fine but many places around the coarse is Swiss cheese; not sure of the rodent species but gopher like holes EVERYWHERE as well as them. I was surprised we didn't run one over accidentally. Balls that shouldn't have disappeared did, and the holes made for a bumpy ride on the cart. The mosquitos became a problem as we got closer to the recreational sailing lake on the front and were terrible on the back nine. Bitten over 20 times. Otherwise, a well marked coarse with decent tees and nice challenging greens. Not worth being bitten by mosquitos though. read more
