I'm cracking up at people calling this place vintage . This is a regular-degular bowling alley that serves solid food and good drinks for a great price comparatively. This is my family's mainstay, but I haven't been back in a while. During my recent visit, everyone was so dang happy, welcoming, and friendly on a moderately busy Saturday night. It definitely made the vibe even better. The bartender is always so nice, and a gin and tonic was about $3.50. It's definitely more of a locals/community vibe here. This is not a Lucky Strike or Bowlero thank God. If I'm ranking bowling alleys in the area it'd go: #1. Shore Lanes for overall price, friendly service, and they go by the game, not by the time #2. Bradley Bowl - Not as friendly, a bit more updated, a bit pricier, but still reasonable, and there's a full bar + restaurant attached. #3. Asbury Lanes - if you're dragged there by the zombie gentrification apocalypse to go stand in line for a "cooler looking" bowling alley with flashing lights, way way way overpriced food and drinks, expensive per person 30-min game slots, and food that is 4x worst than shore lanes and 4x the price, then this is acceptable I guess. Straight forward and very reasonably priced bowling alley. Everything was clean and it was easy to get a lane, shoes, and balls that worked for everyone in my family. I've gotten really tired of trying to bowl in the middle of a night club with the excessive flashing lights and loud thumping music (which seems to be the standard everywhere else). This vintage bowling alley has everything you would expect - full bar, plenty of lanes, and even a couple of arcade games scattered throughout. Getting a game going is very easy. And it was great just being able to throw a few frames with my coworkers after a long week. I love that at one point these types of bowling alleys were considered outdated, and now they are cool and retro. It was a little strange that many of the bowling balls had finger holes that were too small for my hands, and I struggled to find one that suited me better. my friends and I had a fantastic time here! we bowled 2 games on a saturday morning and had a blast. rentals and both games only totaled out to 14 bucks per person which is a great deal! the place has a very retro vibe to it. the chairs at each lane seemed to be the original chairs along with some of the decor. the staff was friendly and very helpful when we had questions. we didn't try any foods or drinks since it was early and we'd already eaten but they do have a bar and a food menu. read more

Went here with friends and family for some casual fun bowling (I am not good at it so I can't judge the quality of bowling equipment but think it's a fun social activity and can judge the general experience). The guy behind the counter was jokey and nice. Rental shoes were almost all brand new. Didn't have to pay until we were done. Lanes seemed newer and had automatic bumpers. They had monitors up high and the computer score software worked fine (we played two rounds and there were no glitches - usually when I go other places we have to correct scores or turns at least once or twice). Benches seemed to be saved from the old set up which we liked despite a few cracks here and there; gave it that classic feel. They had a small bar where we got some beers. Snack bar had hot food (general bar food; I posted a picture of the menu) that they made pretty quickly and was pretty tasty. Plenty of fluorescent loaner balls to borrow. Some weren't in the best shape but I suspect if you cared enough about that you'd be bringing your own anyway. :P Overall had a fun time. Not the fanciest flashiest bowling alley but had all the things you'd want for a fun evening activity. read more

Went there with my girlfriend and I'm a beginner bowler just went to have fun and did poorly my first game so set the lane up to put bumpers up for me. A few rounds in they stoped coming up during my turn. We messed with the settings again just to see if it was being funky and no luck. My gf went up to the desk and said that they weren't working and they aggressively replied that "tHeY wERe oNly fOR kIdS". Pro bowlers actually recommend that beginner bowlers use the guards but okay. We finished are game. And honestly debated just leaving but didn't. When we paid the guy was like sorry we couldn't help you it's just policy. Not saying they were lying but maybe they were and even if not that policy is stupid and ableist. There are adults with high functioning disabilities that would still benefit from the guards. I don't know if they were being homophobic or not but I was just trying to have a nice date night with my girlfriend while on her family vacation. Where do I even begin!? My friends and all went here after work for a fun night out. We were greeted by a man who immediately came off as creepy towards my one friend. He may not have meant to sound it but he did. Asking us all, "who wants him!?" When my one friend asked if the bar was open or not he replied that he would just need her ID..and her phone number! We sat down to bowl but got up quickly to order some food at the pub because we were all starving. The man, or should I say, young man started our orders but then began talking to us, as he talked, he was wiping sweat off of his forehead and putting in our fries. Thank god he put on gloves to start our grilled cheese sandwiches! We went back to start bowling and waited for about ten minutes, until I saw him walking away from his post at the grill and leaving the pub, I said to my friend that these grilled cheese sandwiches were surely going to be burned, and sure enough when i went in another ten minutes later he was starting over because he said he burned the last ones running after a customer who hadn't paid. Ten more minutes passed and my other friend went to get our grilled cheeses, she came back with a burned grilled cheese sandwich and the other grilled cheese stuck to the plate. They both looked absolutely disguisting. When I asked which one had american cheese on it she said the first one, because he smelled it to check....SERIOUSLY!? After our bowling we went back to the front desk to pay and the creepy man who first talked to us started cursing and yelling about how the guy who runs the pub needs to get a fucking credit card machine because he always has to take money out of his cash register and blah blah blah. He starts saying how stupid the guy is yet he himself is trying to figure out 13+4 on a CALCULATOR! We left and we will never be back. read more

Went there for one of a series of tournaments with a nemesis. The first was air hockey, the second bowling, and the upcoming third will be mini-golf. I highly recommend Shore Lanes, it was most suitable for a showdown. My Titanic skills against my opponent's Giant ability made us both seem normal size, but we enjoyed the Shore Lanes, and it's café yet. read more

I will never be back and this was my first experience. When I first entered, the place was dated and pretty dirty but who cares. We are just there to bowl and have fun. The man helping my friends and I was extremely rude and unprofessional. I asked the man if the bar was open and he said " only if You give me your number" I obviously didn't have any alcoholic beverages. After getting our lane and shoes ,we got our balls and went for food. The food area was dirty and outdated. The server smelled like cigarettes ,he just came in from smoking. The door was ajar with a plastic hanger. We decided to play it safe with fries and grilled cheese since we are starving coming from work. While trying to pay, they gave us a receipt because they don't accept credit cards. WHAT !!! it's the digital age people. I thankfully had a 10$ ( two grilled cheeses and sodas) on me so we owned $6 for Fries. Ok so we have to pay at shoe counter. No big deal. We got our drinks and waited for food by playing. Ten minutes pass and grilled cheeses are still not done. We went and checked and "cook" was wiping sweat off his forehead and not paying attention to us watching him. After him leaving the kitchen and burning our food he started again. Now 20 mins for two grill cheeses. I went to get them and a refill. He burnt the one but flipped it over so no one saw. One was American & one was cheddar. But oh no. He couldn't tell the difference so he did a smell check. Yes, a smell check. He saw me watching him and replied "I didn't touch it with my nose, but I smelled it to tell the difference". Oh because that's better. Also cutting it with no gloves but used his nicely sweaty hands. Me being nice took the two plates and went to my friends. I couldn't oh asked for money back. When they saw them we couldn't but laugh. The one was stuck to the plate and burnt and the other was so burnt and it was inedible. My one friend was now "hangry" and upset. She went back and got my $8 back for the grilled cheeses. And now finally. After we played two games we went to pay. I handed my cc to the first creepy guy and he started cursing saying F bombs. We ignored it but he kept going after each of my friends gave him their cards. He was cursing about us using credit cards and how the food guy is so fucking cheap and kept going on. How unprofessional and awkward for the customer. He than had to get a calculator to add $13 + 6. 13 for bowling and 6 for the fries from before. We were too frighten to say anything to the guy but sign our receipt. This place was so empty they should of been happy to take our money but bitched about it. Never going back. Telling everyone to find another. Even if it is expensive. Rather be clean and polite people over this experience. read more

Great value - Sunday morning has steep discounts if you go before 1. The place is a bit outdated. I only bowled and didn't eat or get drinks so I can't say anything about those amenities. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful when the ball got stuck behind the pins. You can't go wrong with the price!!! read more

Shore Lanes is great because not too much oil on lanes (personal preference) so that the ball can swing back into the pocket with harder hitting action. It's a no-frills environment (no cosmic bowling) but also a very relaxing atmosphere compare to other bowling allies.. I also wanted to shout out to John the proshop/ counter guy and Ralph the owner. Their PR skills are exceptional!!!!! Plus I especially thank them for saving my glasses for me from when I visited there a week prior, I'd accidentally forgotten them. (I live about 2 hours away). You guys are the greatest and if I lived any closer I'd visit MUCH more often!!! read more
