I would like to start by saying that I have no problem with the doctor's ability in this practice. In fact, I have been in Dr. Gupta's chair and he was wonderful. I have worked in the dental field for over 20 years and have also referred countless patients here that were completely satisfied with their care. However, I no longer see Ann running the practice and it shows. Ann was on the ball and always had the patient's best interest at heart. She was understanding and accommodating. Unfortunately, the underqualified gentleman, Joe, that has stepped into her role comes from an imaging and marketing background, so knowing nothing about dentistry, he treats patients as dollar signs not humans. My husband was referred for a retreat. He was actively in pain and was still given an appointment a month away. Whatever. Our general dentist cares about his patients well-being, so he came in early to complete a pupal debridement, alleviating the pain and buying him time. The day before my husband's appointment, I called knowing there would be an out of pocket and since no one had bothered to advise us of such, I inquired what that would be. I am well aware that endo is not cheap, but was surprised at the cost since I understand insurance participation fees and how payment is rendered. I asked the "manager" to explain. He made a pathetic attempt to act like he knew what he was talking about and said the CBCT would be at full cost. First of all, my insurance covers 50%, so that was inaccurate. Second, I had a CBCT taken that day in my own office to bring with us. Shockingly, the imaging specialist was unable to open the CBCT at the appointment and they took a new one, charging full price. Because the doctors choose to participate with Delta Dental, they agree to the lower fees Delta provides. In order to make up the difference, they padded on a $160 consult fee and $75 pulp vitality test for an already diagnosed & referred procedure, a $40 fee for a final fill periapical x-ray that is required by the insurance companies to redeem payment, and a $100 bogus laser fee that, let's be serious, is already part of the procedure. I had to request an itemized bill that took 2 weeks to get. Comparing it to my EOB from Delta Dental, I rightfully should have paid $562.50 and was charged $846.00. Not to mention, the erroneous charges maxed out the insurance for the year. Never again will I refer anyone here and I have reached out to all my other providers to reconsider referring as well. I understand the need for business growth, but you are taking advantage of people in every way. Shame. read more

If it would allow for zero stars I would. Prior to my knee replacement surgery, I was told I needed to have a root canal and the time frame before the surgery was important. My dentist at the time referred me to Shore Endodontic and told me how great they were. When I called they scheduled my appointment. Two days before the appointment they called me to cancel my appointment. They offered to reschedule it and I reminded the person from the office that I would need to have it done at least 6 weeks from my surgery and she scheduled a date and said it wouldn't be a iproblem. Two days before the new appointment they called me again to cancel, telling me the doctor is gonna go away on vacation. read more

I had to have a root canal done. I asked if they took my insurance and was told that they did. My first appt. was a consult with a CBCT scan of my mouth and that was not coved by my insurance so I paid $260 upon leaving the office and made an appt. for the root canal. I decided to have nitrous oxide for the procedure for $135 also not covered by my insurance. They day of my procedure I paid $432. Now I have paid $692 out of pocket so far. What I thought I was paying was my estimated out of pocket expense. Then I received a bill for $936.60 because they were out of network. I am beyond mad. It's like a punch in the face. This is no way to conduct bussiness. They should of told me up front. This is extreamly poor service. Way overpriced and just a way to get paid extra money than what insurance pays. We had a great experience here. First of all, the staff here is incredibly competent and friendly to boot! Rare thing in our experience and why we often dread dealing with doctors offices. Furthermore, they did an excellent job with 2 root canals completed in under 2 hours without pain. And to top it off, they take dental savings plans (if you don't have insurance, look it up and you'll get major discounts on dental work) and also gave us an additional discount on top of that. I had so much anxiety about getting a root canal done, I had no idea how I was even going to get through it. The entire staff was friendly, from the first phone call I made, right through the whole procedure. Everyone was extremely patient and empathetic. They were straightforward about how much it would cost and how much my insurance would cover, so no surprises with that. The office was very clean. I hope I don't have to go back there, but if I do need another root canal I won't go anywhere else. read more

I waited over one month to get a estimate and i found out they never even called my insurance !! Then after waiting one month they called me to change my appointment to a later date! The The person that called me women , whoever they are called , was very rude to me!!! I think i deserve more time then she gave me, surely more respect!! DO NOT GO. I went there for a tooth sensitivity problem. They gave me a root canal on the wrong tooth. First they upsell you on a CT scan to "pinpoint the problem". This costs $260 not covered by insurance. Total scam. They charged me 350 for a root canal plus what my insurance paid. Dr. Gupta performed a root canal. Three days later I called to inform them that I still had the same problem. Gupta insisted that they fixed my problem. After informing him numerous times that my tooth was exactly the same as I went in, he stated that was impossible because the root canal removed the nerve. He went on to say that I needed time to heal, maybe up to 6 months, or maybe I was mistaken where the pain was coming from. I remarked that he either did not get all the nerve or he did a root canal on the wrong tooth and wanted to have him check it. He refused to see me saying he did all he could. He further stated that "he would gladly refund my money if he removed my tooth". I went in with a good tooth and now he suggested removing it. I imediately called my dentist who reffered me to them and told her what transpired. She saw me the next morning, found the correct tooth that was giving me problems (next to the one Gupta worked on), did a root canal and charged me 1/6th the price. No more pain. She did a great job. Like stated by other patients they will charge a full $260 out of pocket CT image of your mouth (That they say is necessary and is not covered by insurance) They then consult with you for a few minutes after the scan not telling you of any costs of this. They will submit a high consult fee to your insurance and collect what the insurance thinks is a fair payment. Then they hit you with a very high fee and say the insurance did not pay enough they want more $$$$$$. Then they Threaten you with sending to a collection agency very quickly. In 2014, I had a root canal done on my bottom right molar at a dental office near my home in Old Bridge. In 2017-2018 It got infected and became very painful. The same office then recommended an apicoectomy to clear out the infection and back fill the space. The procedure was extremely painful and of course was unsuccessful. I then developed an abscess on my gum and the dentist said I needed to have the tooth extracted and have an implant put in which would cost $4,000 - $5,000 and require 3 - 4 separate office visits over the next 10 months. I visited Shore Endodontics in the summer of 2018 for a second opinion. Dr. Gupta recommended saving the tooth by performing a root canal re-treatment. I was told a $260 scan was required to confirm this which was not covered by insurance (as described in other reviews). Dr. Gupta was extremely friendly and professional during the initial diagnosis and procedure. The procedure itself was done in about 45 minutes and I experienced little to no pain at all. Furthermore, I expected painful/swollen gums and lips the next morning, but was unable to even tell that I had a procedure done. (The root canal re-treatment cost $587 out of pocket.) Although I spent $847, it was much better than having to spend $4,000 - $5,000 for an implant. The abscess on my gum went away and I went to my new dentist to have the new filling put in which was covered by insurance. Just having the job done correctly by a doctor you can actually trust is priceless. A few months later I also received a check for $330 because insurance had picked up some of the cost of the retreatment. I highly recommend Shore Endodontics and Dr. Gupta. read more

Know before you go! I would agree with the previous review. I wish I had seen it earlier. They will ask for a $260 CT image of your mouth, which they will present as necessary to understand the problem, but no insurance covers it. Even the dentist did not look at it when I went back a second time for the actual root canal treatment. He only looked at the x-rays. Also, keep track of what your insurance is paying and the amounts you are responsible for. Also, ensure that you know what your deductible is for your insurance company by asking for a pre-authorization. They will ask for upfront fees that are way above what the insurance pays them, and good luck getting your money back. read more

Very expensive went there from recommendation from my Dentist out of network so was only supposed to be covered 50% was not covered for anything except $28.00 , I wound up paying $640.00 , with out them even touching me , told me I would need an apico surgery because I had a bad infection that was affecting all four of my front teeth and scheduled me for surgery without telling me what the cost would be $4,000.00 , then I would have to go back to my dentist and they told me that they would only be able to save one tooth and I would need an implant and my dentist told me that I would have to go to an oral surgeon to extract the tooth and then go back to her to start the implant procedure , that would cost approx. $7,000.00 I went a got a second opinion and they told me that there was no guarantee the surgery would cure the infection, which I was never told and eventually i would need all four implants so overall I would be spending in excess of over $9,000.00 and my insurance company only allots $1,500.00 annually. I have since received a price for all four implants of $19,000.00 for everything including a root canal . why would I spend 10,000.00 with no guarantee the infection would be gone and then pay for one implant and then 3 crowns that would probably close to the cost of all the implants . To charge someone $640.00 for a consult is disgusting , and all options were not given about the infection to be gone and eventually all teeth would either need implants or crowns .VERY DISAPPOINTED , beware of the cost for the CT image went to three other dentist and they did not need the CT read more

I've been going to Shore Endodontics for two years, and had three root canals here. They are absolutely the greatest place I've ever been to. The Doctors are so caring, intelligent, and do an amazing job; especially Dr.Gupta! The staff is incredible as well. The dental assistants are all wonderful! The front desk staff are extremely thoughtful and helpful. One front desk staff member named Stephanie helped me so much! I was in so much pain and she tried her absolute best to get me in right away!The whole staff makes you feel welcomed & comfortable. Although the procedure was painless, the pain definitely came later when I was billed for procedures not covered by my dental insurance even after paying over $300.00 up front for coinsurance. They apparently routinely pull this stunt to bring in additional revenue. Steer clear of these scam artists. Ive read numerous bad reviews regarding this issue. I'm kicking myself for not researching them before booking an appointment. read more

I would highly recommend never going to this office. Outrageously expensive and don't fall for the CAT Scan procedure. Not covered by insurance and costs close to 400. I couldn't agree more with the previous reviews. The procedure itself was painless. However, after being charged over $2,000 WITH insurance, we received a bill for an additional $500, just prior to Christmas. We made a payment of $50 and figured we'd just keep making payments. We received no further bills or communication from the office and in all honestly forgot about it since we didn't receive any further documentation. Today, 7 months after the first bill, I get a notice saying they are sending my account to collections if the total bill wasn't paid in 14 days. I called to try and find a way to resolve the issue and the billing clerk, Jennifer, was so obnoxiously rude and condescending. It was apparent she thought I was lying and actually argued with me telling me "you did receive the notices". The end result of my conversation was "you can resolve this issue by paying your bills". read more
