I acknowledged it but then she kept harping about it , which felt like she was complaining to me about it. Been going here since forever. Never had a problem everyone is friendly, the dentists are fine also- I love Dr. Strouse! More recently I am having a crown done with Dr. Nukvey and she was very nice too! The job is going along smoothly and I am very happy. Pls keep in mind everybody has different personalities and isn't always so bubbly, so with some of these reviews saying personality was under par , I'm really not sure what you were expecting as they are all very nice and respectable. I was seeing another local dentist who retired, and his patient records were sent to Ocean Smiles, and that's how I got to go there. I moved away from the area, and with many highly rated dentists local to me, I still choose to go back to them. Unlike some other places, there are NO nasty people working in the front, the hygienists are first rate , and that's how I feel about Dr. Strouse as well. Knowing what is going on with your teeth is kind of like knowing what is going on with your car. The pros know what is going on when you don't, and you have to place your trust in a qualified person. While I believe that he was an ok dentist, his bedside manor was not so great! The last time I was in his office was a few years ago, I never finished this review. I strugglewith getting the insurance company to pay their share and make my payments I hear receptionist offering new patient on the phone 80 something to remove his tooth, meanwhile I was getting no assistance from the office myself. I admit I have 300+ balance on my credit report he keeps jacking it up! It's over 1800.00 now! So help your new client get discounts but rob your existing customer struggling to get insurance to pay up and make copays.. update: now it's 2800.00, it must be an illegal amount of interest being charged. What a thief! How can he charge an extra 1000.00 since I posted this! Are there any attorneys reading this that could help me with this matte Response: This dentists response is not only incorrect but I thought doctors were forbidden by hippa laws to divulge patient information? I did not cancel my insurance and he lied about interest being charged.. shame read more

This review is more for their billing than the dentist. They told me that the visit would be covered by my insurance, when in fact they later sent a bill for a lot more than I was expecting. When someone tells you that it should be covered, I was not expecting to receive such a large bill for an initial visit. I certainly would not be going back to have major work done. They said the major work should also mostly be covered by my insurance, but now I hesitate to go back because I can't believe them. read more

Dr. Strouse isn't bad. I don't remember her name, but there's an Asian lady in there who really did a number on me. Cavity filling that ended up causing me some serious pain (and it may have contributed to another issue I just dealt with today). I refused to let her see me ever again. When I had a tooth infection they told me I'd have to wait for the infection to die down with antibiotics before I could get a root canal. Called an endodontist and they told me thats certainly not the case. Got my root canal done the same day with Dr. Ryan McCafferty (I recommend him). Since then I switched offices. Can't say I intend to come back here ever again. If you do go here, stick to Dr. Strouse. Do NOT let the Asian woman get anywhere near your mouth. You will regret it. read more

After seeing the wonderful reviews for this office, I decided to go for an initial evaluation. After many years of multiple health issues taking many medications, I have severe dental issues. Long story short, when the hygienist was scraping my teeth, every so often she hit the gums and I felt it without complaint. She then said to me, "Are you waiting for the pain or are you just hypersensitive?" As a person in the medical field for many years and feeling embarrassed by my dental issues, this turned me off. I paid $100 for a cleaning and x-rays for which the cleaning was not completed, only scraping tartar was performed. The front office staff was very informative and polite. We all have bad days and I hope this was just a bad day. read more

So I stumbled upon Ocean Smiles based on a recommendation from a friend. I asked around because over the last 20 years dentists have been terrifying me and leaving me confused about my dental health. Let me start by saying how much I enjoyed my interaction with Dr. Strouse. It usually takes me time to warm up to a new dentist but he just makes it easy. He smiled and made jokes all while explaining my conditions and possible treatments more thoroughly than anyone ever before. He explained my options for fillings, bridges and implants. He explained why one area would be best suited for a bridge while another could use an implant. This was all done without pressure. It felt like a class in dentistry. When I left the office, I felt empowered and ready to improve my oral health. My treatment visits were just as pleasant. I kept waiting for the little pinch dentists always told me about before injections but in never came! Thank you Dr. Strouse for restoring my trust in Dentists. read more

I had a dental emergency and my regular dentist wasn't in the office. I Googled dental emergencies in my area and Ocean Smiles popped up. I called them at 9am. Not only were they incredibly helpful and friendly over the phone, they took me in right away - me, a new patient! I was in tremendous pain, so I really appreciated it. Dr. Strouse was very helpful and took time to explain what he was looking for and why he was sending me to an oral surgeon and what to expect during my visit there. Then he made the appointment for me that same day! It turned out that I needed the tooth removed, so I called Ocean Smiles to make an appointment. They were able to take me in just a couple of hours later. The tooth removal procedure was as painless as it could be. Today is the next day and I have absolutely no pain, swelling or any other complications. Needless to say, I will be a regular patient at Ocean Smiles from now on.
