When I decided to have a tooth extracted in the upper back area of my mouth; they presented me with a multi step treatment plan (many thousands of dollars) at which point I communicated that I had no intent to get implants etc because the gap would not be visible. Come surgery day, my surgeon went ahead and did a bone graft anyway. At the end of my follow up appointment a couple weeks later, the office manager pulled me aside and demanded over $800 additional for the bone graft. I communicated that I did not agree to that, had communicated my intentions earlier, and had only scheduled the appointment for the extraction. She quickly offered me a discount on the next step of the process (which hints to me that she knew they over reached) and I instead stated I should be discounted for the bone graft that I didn't ask for. She didn't budge, so I just paid up and found a new dentist immediately. Going to the dentist is stressful enough, the office shouldn't cause their patients undue financial strain on top of it. I was up front that I wanted extraction only and they performed extra work anyway. You can shake me down for the $800 since it's advisable to get a bone graft anyway, but it should be at a time of my choosing, not yours. If SDA reads this - a little communication and not making assumptions goes a long way!

I was looking for a new dentist after my current dentist stopped taking my insurance. Oakwood…read moredental arts seemed like the perfect choice; they were local. they took my insurance, and for check ups and cleanings, my out-of-pocket was absolutely nothing. They also have some pretty high-tech equipment, so it seemed a no-brainer. I made an appointment. They saw me promptly. They did a full set of x-rays. The technician could not have been more gracious and he did a terrific job cleaning my teeth. In fact, the entire staff was absolutely wonderful, until the dentist arrived. First of all he was wearing these magnifying glasses that prevent you from being able to see his eyes, which was offputting. The moment he walked in (he may or may not have introduced himself, I really don't recall) he went straight to the x-rays, announced I needed a root canal and a crown, took a quick look in my mouth and walked out. Now, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt; he is probably overworked and I'm sure they don't have nearly enough dentists for all their patients. However, I'll be damned if I let someone who spent absolutely no time with me, make such a significant diagnosis so casually. It was time for a second opinion. I took a picture of the x-ray on my cell phone and met with my old dentist. He told me no problem he could fill it and I didn't need a root Canal. Needless to say, I am back with my old dentist and could not be happier. I don't care if I have to go 100% out-of-pocket. I'd rather have more teeth and a little less money than the other way around. And in this case, I have more teeth and more money so it's a win-win. If Oakwood dental arts suggest anything beyond a cleaning and x-rays, please do yourself a favor and get a second opinion from a local dentist who is willing to take the time to do what they can to save your teeth.

At eastern dental they told me I had a small cavity that they could not show me on X-rays, something was fishy! So I went and saw Dr Nicolas who told me my teeth were cavity free. She is the most honesty dentist I've ever had. Then she recommended I get a cleaning. I scheduled an appointment for that with Meg. Meg was awesome! she spent so much time with me getting all the tartar off my teeth and then showed me the best way to brush my teeth to prevent the tartar from reforming. My teeth have never been this clean. no hygienist has been able to remove all the tartar until her. This office treats the patient how they would want to be treated. At this office you a taken right away, the Dr takes her time with you as well as the rest of the staff. And they are honest. Expect nothing less then perfection from this office. Switch to this office it's your teeth and you want to keep them forever.
