The tiramisu cake was NOT tiramisu-cake!! Was very disappointed and had a huge discussion with my husband and family - as what I was expecting was tiramisu and what we got was an overly sweet and creamy - not like tiramisu.

This Shoprite is 8 min from my home and is my go to grocery store (primarily because it's the only game in town). The parking lot is always like a zoo (a requirement for all Shoprite parking lots, I think) and the plaza within which it is located has a kind of 80s drab feel. The inside, however, has a slightly refreshed feel and I don't get quite the same crowded feeling on the inside of the store as I do when I'm in the parking lot. However, it doesn't feel as spacious as other grocery stores, such as the Stop & Shop on Rt. 31, the Wegmans in Bridgewater or even the Shoprite in Branchburg. I do think they have done a good job fitting in a good selection of products within the smaller footprint of this store and I can usually get all that I need at this one location. Their produce is fresh and well stocked. Their deli counter is very efficiently run - it's done solely via kiosk ordering. Just don't forget to pickup your order before heading to the register! I would rate most of my interactions with the "Courtesy Counter" staff as unpleasant at best. They give off the "you're lucky I'm even willing to talk to you and do my job today" vibe.

Good selection, prices and and good produce. Decent gluten-free selection. Plenty of pre-made and deli selections. Decent bakery.

1st visit to Hot Bagels & Deli. The gentleman who took our order was friendly & informative (didn't…read morecatch his name). There were a ton of choices on the menu. I ordered a pumpernickel bagel with Taylor ham, egg, & cheese. The fillings were good but oddly the pumpernickel (which looked right) didn't taste right. It wasn't inedible but it was missing an ingredient (rye or molasses or something), it just tasted like oddly plain bread. Pumpernickel is my favorite go-to, so I was a bit disappointed. My spouse had a dried tomato bagel with the same fillings as mine & he enjoyed his. I would say that the restaurant could use a bit of a refresh, along with boxes opened up & dealt with (ex: several boxes of tables or chairs lying on the ground). I needed to take a headache pill while there & sadly there was no access to drink a little tap water (I did find a cup and some ice and managed with that). I think this location has potential especially with its location, but hope they might have some time to put in a bit more detail to freshening the space, a bit of elbow grease, and ensuring proper ingredients. I wanted to end with the positive note that I did like that they seem to be creating unique cream cheese and bagel flavors that I haven't seen elsewhere.
