I'm a definite fan of the Shoppers Drug Mart franchise, why? It's kind of like a convenience store with more and what really makes the Chinook Centre location special is it's a "beautyBOUTIQUE" location as well. What does this mean? Go check it out, it's pretty self-explanatory... ;-) I say this jokingly because it's both massive and impressive. It's their usual beauty department enhanced to the highest level. To elaborate the Chinook Shoppers beautyBOUTIQUE is over 5,000 sqft, features new fixtures, digital signage and an overall enhanced derm, fragrance and beauty area with qualified professionals at the ready to help you with your beauty needs. The design is very bright and open, which makes you feel comfortable when browsing. They feature over 21 prestige brands that are clearly marked so it's easier to find exactly what you're looking for in a shorter amount of time.
Beyond the awesome beautyBOUTIQUE, this Shoppers Drug Mart is pretty well organized, clean and overall well maintained. This location is not classified as one of their "Food Store" locations, but they still have a good selection of snacks, drinks and some dry goods. Also now that they've partnered with President's Choice their food selection continues to improve and even includes PC Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! NOM NOM! Full service Pharmacy is there as well of course, the mandatory component to any shoppers. But another real plus is this location also has a Canada Post Office for all your postage/mailing needs! One thing I've noticed about this Shoppers is because of their beautyBOUTIQUE renovation and the Canada Post space, the rest of the store feels a bit squishy and busy. I find the aisles feel tighter, more crowded and don't offer great privacy for people buying goods that may be related to some pretty personal things. Also because of its location and the mall crowd it is significantly busier than other locations which only amplifies the crammed convenience store space.
The beautyBOUTIQUE is on the mall entrance side (west) and the usual convenience store/pharmacy is on the exterior entrance (east). Also because this has external access and isn't isolated within the mall it is a 24 hour location, which is a big plus for any late night medical needs or other purchases. I've only used the Pharmacy once here, but the Pharmacist was very friendly and helpful, definitely worth noting as I've encountered some rude Pharmacists at other Shoppers locations. The majority of the staff at this location are also pretty kind and friendly in my experience as well.
Another draw back of the mall location is definitely parking, the eastern surface outside of this location has a reputation of being one of the busier areas for parking. I believe they have a couple spots that are specifically short-term parking for store customers though. Overall it's a great Shoppers location, the clear highlight is the beautyBOUTIQUE, customer service and post office. Drawbacks are the tighter feeling main store, how busy it gets, parking and not being a full Food Store location.
