We were in town for just one day, attending our son's soccer game. I really wanted to take home something handmade from Buffalo, which is how I found this lovely shop on Yelp. There was a fun variety of local, hand-crafted products, including jewelry. I ended up purchasing a pair of sterling silver threader earrings with quartz dangles that I cannot wait to wear. I highly recommend this shop for anyone who is looking for a special gift, or maybe just a little treat for yourself. The staff is extremely friendly and eager to assis you. This could be really confusing to any passerby and admittedly I've walked by many times. Shopcraft sits in and shares the same space at Thin Ice. Here you will find items made by local artists and crafters. Which may lead to the confusion. Many items you will find will have that familiar bison theme or something you might see at the Allen West or Elmwood art festivals. Unique, rough, stylistic, anything but cookie cutter with items such as jewelry, home decore, leather goods, wall art, greeting cards, wood art and more. The day I entered the space was during the Father's Day event, the Saturday before actual father's day they hosted some of their resident artists outside at a few tables and offered beer samples in the very back. Having not been here before I was a tad disappointed that the same items outside were available inside and for a hefty price. I get it, cost of materials, cost of time, etc all that stuff that goes into making something but some items I have seen better crafted, better quality for a lower price either online or other craft shows. Im all about supporting local but I'm also about trying to watch my wallet. I would recommend anyone that is a fan of locally made or unique gifts to check this space out. I see myself finding an item or two around Christmas. A lover of unique jewelry could go on a bender in here and oh yeah, there is a resident cat you may find napping in the window. read more

I happened upon this cute shop while walking back to where I parked, after having brunch with friends two days ago. Its right on Elmwood Avenue. This gift shop is so great!!! Everything is made by local artists. The woman who was working at the counter happily greeted me when I walked in, as she was knitting (crocheting?) They have things on the wall and everywhere. Everything is so cool and interesting. I bought a few things to give as gifts and I'll probably be back soon to buy a few more cool things for myself (like the bison walker) and a few cool things for friends. The employee was going to put my items in a small bag and when I told her I didn't need the bag with the small handle and I didn't want to waste it, she put my items in a smaller bag without a handle which was made from an old Buffalo News paper. This is a really great shop, perfect for reasonably priced, high quality gifts, cards and decor. All of the items are locally made and plenty of them have a buffalo theme. When I was there I got to talk to the artist at the counter and she was super helpful and friendly. I absolutely love their stuff and was able to get most of my holiday shopping out of the way early! I LOVE this little shop! It is tucked into the back of Thin Ice on Elmwood and has so many unique, well crafted, giftable items! The shop is very well curated and supports lots of local artists and makers. Every time I have stopped in the staff has been super accommodating and helpful, providing gift guidance and sharing details of the artists who craft and design their products. I love buying gifts from here and passing along those details to my gift recipients. I think it makes a gift really special to know that a lot of time, effort, creativity and talent went into making it. Oh!
