I've been a member for over 6 months now and can confirm from my experience that staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, courteous and certainly professional when working with customers. The person who was most helpful was Donavan. I'm new to guns and through conversation he raised some great points which ultimately saved me money in the long run; "Buy once, cry once". He also saved me from buying a few wrong accessories which I ultimately would have been unhappy with in the long run and advised me in the right direction! He asked the right questions to make sure I was getting what I truly wanted and needed. Was nice to deal with someone I felt I could trust and wasn't just trying to sell me stuff for the sake of it. As other reviewers noted, the inside is awesome and decked out with numerous taxidermized animals which adds to the aesthetic. The selection of guns and accessories is vast and they're bound to have whatever you're looking for at a fair price. Spacious showroom with easy to navigate aisles each positioned at eye level. A manager approached us and explained a few of the gun specials. There was an enormous display of assault weapons and big brand handguns. The decor was a hunter's paradise with seven foot bears standing with aggression at the front door. The top of the walls have heads of animals. The store has competitive prices on guns, safes and accessories. Ladies Night is every Monday and offers free range time. The normal rate for range use is $20.00 per hour. Customers can purchase eye protection, ear plugs and targets. read more

This is a very busy location however what I needed I was able to get in and out in 30 minutes. The staff was super friendly. Everyone asked me if I needed help or would I needed help with and I was able to get everything done in a timely fashion. There was a long line for the range so I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if they take them. They also offer a concealed weapons glasses every Sunday at 11:30 AM which I thought was great, you don't have to make a reservation, but they highly recommend it to make sure you get a spot. I used them for a FFL Transfer. Austin could not have been nicer. Explained entire process, showed me how to operate the firearm, and examined/tested it. He could not have been nicer or more helpful. Yes, they are a bit sales oriented but he did not push hard. Rather, he made recommendations. I did ultimately purchase the cleaning kit he recommended, but not because I felt pressured. I wanted to clean the firearm prior to shooting it. BTW, their FFL Transfer fees were reasonable, and about 1/2 of some other dealers. All in all a good first experience here. read more

I had a bad experience dealing with the owner Khaled Akkawi and one of his managers Robert Geisler at the Florida Gun show at the Tampa Fairgrounds recently. I asked the manager if shoot straight could match the advertised price of the gun I wanted from another local retail store, or come close to it, and the manager looked at me like I was crazy. The manager said absolutely not in a very condescending manner. So I asked the owner thinking he was going to be more reasonable and owner brought a model of the pistol i wanted but a used one and offered to sell it. I searched online to compared and contrast the used price and asked him to lower the price a bit and showed him what the pistol was selling for on line and he said no I am not selling you my gun and siad go away. It is no wonder you read all the bad reviews online about this store. They are very arrogant and think that people will do business with them no matter how bad they treat their customers. After experiencing this negative behavior from the owner and management I recommend you explore your buying options and go somewhere else. read more

Amazing customer service. Came in unable to fix my Tavor. I asked for the armor but they mentioned they don't have one anymore but asked "let us take a look at it". 3 minutes and they solved my rifle issue. They even took my rifle to the range and shot it to make sure it's functional. They didn't charge me for the service. Huge thank you to Justin and the other two men helping me out. My first time shooting and it was a rainy day. Seemed like a good alternative to the beach. Came by on a Saturday during a tropical depression expecting it to be packed as an indoor range, but it was pleasantly empty. The range fee is $15 which includes glasses & ear muffs and you can either bring your own ammo or buy some at the counter. Targets are a buck a piece and there are separate rooms for handguns and rifles. Plenty of air blowing down at each firing station and the staff does a good job of sweeping shells out of standing areas. So back to the staff...counter staff members were very kind and helpful. Throughout our shooting experience, some of the younger staff members were very bossy and somewhat degrading when making their rounds in the shooting area. However, the staff out front in the store were helpful and friendly, allowing me to pet the taxidermy freely (you read that right). I had a really fun day shooting at Shoot Straight and I think it's a good place for both beginners and those who are experienced on the range. I wish they had an outdoor range as well. read more

Worst customer service ever! These guys do not stand behind any of the products they sell nor do they do anything to help their customers with anything besides sales. I purchased a new scorpion evo and magpul mag a couple of weeks ago. Went to load the magpul mag for the first time and it malfunctioned immediately. Instead of just exchanging the item they sold me less than 2 weeks ago the manager just handed me back my receipt and told me to go through the manufacturer. With all the other options for gun stores and ranges in the Tampa area, do yourself a favor and spend your money where it is more appreciated and that has better customer service. I can also see why they always have a help wanted/now hiring sign on their door. This place is trash. read more

I haven't gone there in a year because the staff is so rude. Stopped in for the 1st time since, after work today, and sure enough, still rude! It mostly comes from the nerdy white chick with the thick glasses. She's very condescending and makes rude faces towards the customers. She is very short with them and is very disrespectful. We are members of this range. The range itself is very well operated. Plenty of space and yet range officers are there if you need them but not overbearing. Easy to access and fairly priced. Recommend patience when in the store. The employees are not commissioned salespeople. They are not interested in up selling you to the most expensive anything. That said they are also overwhelmed with customers quite often so being patient is the key to a successful trip to their sales counter. read more

Previously when I went with my family to Shoot Straight (less than 2 months ago), we were given a military discount regardless of a active duty, veteran, dependent status. We all had our identifications showing we were a military family (active + dependents), and the employee had no problem giving us a discount individually. This time, an associate was informing us that he or Shoot Straight as a company do not give discounts to family members since, "They didn't serve, they did not go to war." My family and I were MORE than stunned and insulted by this comment. This associate clearly has zero knowledge on the SACRIFICE family members have to go through when our loved ones are being let out into deployments with ZERO promise of coming back. He has no idea on how hard it is to adapt without that individual being there. Raising children and taking care of family members alone.... I can go on for hours on why a dependent family should be more than rightfully given a discount. That small discount will not lead anyone into bankruptcy. This discount should show that Shoot Straight is thankful for the sacrifice military members and their families have made for freedom. Do better Shoot Straight. read more

Caution when using the Shoot Straight gun shop on U.S. 301 in Tampa. I took 3 pistols in for a cleaning. One of the pistols was my Kimber Micro 380 with a Crimson Trace Laser sight. If you know anything about pistols, the Kimber is not a cheap weapon, especially with a laser sight. I handed them over to their supposedly gunsmith. I asked him if he could switch the batteries in the laser. He assured me he could change the batteries. The next day I go in and pickup my pistols. Now the laser on the Kimber is broken and has a rattle, it won't hold the battery in place and the gunsmith is mysteriously gone. No one would take the blame for the broken laser even though I showed it working to the gunsmith when I brought the Kimber in for cleaning. Now I have a choice, buy a new laser ($300.00) or take them to court and prove they broke the laser installing the batteries. To save time and the trouble of taking a bunch lying dog face pony soldiers into court I bought a new laser sight. Obviously I will never do business with such a unethical business as Shoot Straight. read more

Not only Not Good - Terrible & Dangerous. Shooting Straight Tampa location on 301 refused to honor agreed upon pricing once the background check came back approved. I declined to complete the transaction. The manager (in black shirt who refused to identify himself - but NOT GM Justin) insisted he was going to charge me a 25% restock fee; he didn't know I had not already paid for the pistol. When I called 'bullshit' to his insisting he was going to charge a 'restock' fee, this jerk became indignant & obnoxious. As I was leaving, to further instigate a reaction - the black shirt manager jerk commented on my ass. At that point I asked him to come outside of the store setting. Of course he was a coward & kept running his mouth. I did follow-up & call to discuss with the location GM Justin to no avail; abet he did apologize for my experience. Since I cannot leave a second, separate review, I will update this one. The folks at Shoot Straight Tampa continue to provide superior customer service. I would like to give a special shout out to Boen who has helped me with numerous purchases. On the most recent, he listened to what I thought I wanted, showed me a variety of weapons including the one I bought...which was not what I thought I wanted / needed. A great consultant does just what he did...aligns needs and wants. I am thrilled with my most recent purchase. Previously he has helped me purchase a scope and then mounted it for me, helped with the purchase of a Laser / Light and then helped mount it, and helped with changing out a backstrap on a weapon I did not even purchase from Shoot Straight. Boen, and the other fantastic employees at Shoot Straight Tampa (e.g. Brooklyn) are the reason I spend my time and money at that store. Great people, products and prices! Ladies, don't bother coming here!!! I had some extra time in the midst of my errands and wanted to look around for a new off-body carry piece. Came inside, looked at all the cases, never greeted & barely acknowledged. Decided to wait at the register for someone to assist me after the others ahead had finished their business. Finally get someone to show me something in the case and aside from asking how it felt in my hand, he offered zero assistance aside to ask if I wanted to buy it. I was hoping to see some other models that might meet my needs, but he ran off as soon as I said I wasn't purchasing that particular model after holding it for maybe 15-30 seconds. I don't care how convenient this location is, how much gas I have to burn, I will drive ANYWHERE ELSE to make my purchase. I don't know if it was because I happened to be dressed in a dress & heels, don't look like the 'typical' customer, or they are just raging a-holes. This is my first shooting range ever so I don't know what to expect but for my first time, this place about did it all. Pros: Your shooting range charge comes with glasses and ear muff rental so that was very helpful as that can be very pricey. Cons: The lines for the shooting range could be a little faster but the employees were very nice and helpful so that helped a little. Overall, this was a clean place and everyone kept to themselves inside the shooting range so it was a good experience in my book. This is probably my go to place for the shooting range since it's nearby and the prices are good. read more

First time purchase on specific item shown on their website. Spoke to young lady, sorry I cannot recall her name, who advised they were out of stock at Tampa and Clearwater locations but said they were expecting more stock in the next day or two and she would call me. She called the next day to say she had one and put it aside for me, didn't even require my credit card to hold or complete purchase in the meantime. Couple days later when I went in she was working the range portion and I had the opportunity to work with Gatlin in the showroom. Very helpful, attentive and got me in and out as quick as he could, slight delay in the background check coming back but nothing they could have done about it. Best indoor range I've been to. Also the staff always incredibly helpful from seeking a customer to help and answering any questions. A lot of times in the firearm industry employees are short and almost make you feel dumb. That is 100% not the case at Shoot Straight whether it's crowded or slower. I went to this store on April 2 shit and had a great time and I left one of my firearms there to be repaired and it's been 5 months and two failed visits that they've called me all the way in to the store and they fit. have my gun. Then one of the managers if not the owner idk his name but he walks around with the gun on his hip very disingenuous dude basically told me the manufacture has my gun and it's been dam near 6 months and kind you they called me in twice someone from the store called me twice saying my gun was there and I get there and nothing. Doing everything in their power to not either come up with my firearm or compensate me for it. Still waiting for answers and getting my legal consult involved. read more
