I visited the range for the first time to get to know my newest firearm that I call Baby Girl. I have a permanent protection order against a man and felt comfortable here. They were nice to me. They were very helpful. I think his name is Mike. He showed me where to sign in and told me their process. He made it easy for me to understand lol Then I had issues with my new firearm and asked him for help. The three men and the lady who work there were very helpful. I could go to Reload in Tarpon Springs which is more modern but they make you jump through hoops now for pistols after the suicide incident in 2016. I usually go to Shooting Sports in Tampa but they have become very crowded/busy in the last few years which is a good thing. I like Firing Line. You sign in, pay, go in. They do watch you and others while you're on the range. I plan to return again. read more

I took my daughter for a class and her time handling/shooting a gun. The instructor (I think the owner as well) was very attentive to everyone in the class, was very knowledgeable. I've already taken a concealed class but learned which gun would be best for us and will soon buy one from them as well. The guys who helped everyone in the class on the range were extremely helpful and made this experience for my daughter a great memory. My boyfriend recommended it and set up the date and time for the class for her. He has to qualify for his job here, said it's one of best ranges he's been to. Glad we went. This was a pretty tough experience. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable on different type of fire arms. The facility was not full so we were able to enjoy the gun range without feeling rushed. They have several options from handguns to rifles to automatically also offered classes to get a gun license. Tom Terrific here with another honest business review. I checked with both The Firing Range and Reload in Tarpon for their range fees. Reload was $17, Firing Line $15. I had not been to Firing Line and as they are equal distance to travel I went to Firing Line at 10 am when they opened. It's a small shop but seemed equipped enough for you to find what you are looking for. Another guy was using the range and i put in my ear plugs, I was disappointed to see that the targets are TAPED ON, NOT CLIPPED ON. That was a first. So the attendant taped my target on and at that moment the other guy started shooting. OWWWW! Even though he was at the end and i was in the middle my ears hurt. It was incredibly loud and after he fired a few more I knew I could not stay. I exited the range and heard ringing in my ears. Their acoustics or lack thereof were poor. They were kind enough to give me a refund. I got my concealed carry at Reload and their range is state of the art. I used the same ear plugs there as I did at the Firing Line and there were a dozen people shooting at Reload for my class. I experienced no problems. As I write this my ears are still ringing and it's 11:30 am. I'll bring my muffs next time. I don't like Reload all that much either. Reload makes you jump through hoops and spend 10 minutes at a tablet kiosk telling your life story and giving away all of your rights. I don't like that. At the Fiing range I gave them my money and in I went, no problem no hassel. I just wish it were nicer in there. read more

Took a Shooter's class yesterday, and 10 years prior took a Conceal Carry class there too. I can tell you that both experiences while there were excellent. The classes were awesome, including shooting on their Range - everyone working there are friendly, relaxed and knowledgable - a really nice vibe. I recently called for their 3 hour safety class before getting you CWP. The 3 hour class was really good and not boring. They give you plenty of important issues to think about before you fire a weapon. At the conclusion of the class, you then meet someone from USCCA Insurance. You'll be glad you have this insurance on your side should you have to discharge a weapon. They have a huge staff of Attorneys to pick from who will come out to where you are even at 3 am. That's when you need them. They charge a low monthly fee and I liked the fact that you can cancel at any time. There are no contracts. read more

Place is a dumpster from the second you walk in the door .. heavy smoke lingers in the air in the range itself from spent cartridges and lead .. almost Like a fog from No proper filtration. (still .. "remodeling" then why still open to public !? ) I have pictures and video so this isn't slander .. the heavy guy behind counter is a rude tool, their range rounds are way over priced (30.00+ a box) they will only sell you self defense ammo if you're stupid enough to buy their over priced guns. $95 for 2 boxes of range ammo, a shooting lane, 2 targets and women shoot free... stick with shooters world , reload etc..the bigger classier places most of all they're safer as well .. do yourself a favor spend your money elsewhere read more

I'll keep this brief. This is exactly what I wanted for target practice, plus teach my family how to use a firearm for the first time. For beginners, they teach a course, but if you're experienced and bring family, you can rent a small caliber firearm for training. The owner is an amazing individual and very personable. Fine for basic shooting but very disappointed in how they run their shop. About 2 months before showing up with my AR-15, I was told, in person, that yes, I can shoot the AR in their range. I recently double-checked their website: nothing larger than 30-30. When I showed up today, I was told that AR-15's not allowed except when owner gives his personal OK AND he is present...of course this day he was not present. After driving 35 minutes, I would have expected them to offer to call the owner to see if an exception might be made, but no joy there. After returning home, I went back to the website and, sure enough, it has been amended. New wording seems to say that 223/5.56 may or may not be allowed. Obviously, I don't having the old wording to compart too. So, it would seem that I have no legitimate complaint..so, live and learn, but I'm still less than impressed. read more

I just took the beginner's class with their team of instructors. All of the staff were extremely patient and knowledgeable. Being an extreme novice, I was very apprehensive but they showed me everything and allowed me to go at my own pace. If you want to familiarize yourself with a pistol, I would highly recommend this course. My first experience with purchasing and using weapons and Firing Line was fantastic! My first visit the staff helped me look at and determine what I wanted to buy. They were very patient and listened to what my needs were and gave me recommendations based on that. From the research I did online their prices seem more than reasonable plus they have a section of used weapons you can purchase. My next visit I got to use the range and took their concealed weapons course. The owner, Rob, was our instructor. Not only was he hilarious but he was also very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information. I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to get more comfortable with a weapon and make sure they are starting at a gun range that will walk you through step-by-step until you feel more comfortable. This was my first time to a Gun range so I really don't have anything to compare it to... I noticed that there are some bad reviews on other sites however I didn't experience any problems. Five of us went as a group on late Saturday afternoon. My friend's Brother has experience with guns and going to the range so he helped us with everything. The staff was extremely helpful and nice and really made it a great visit. We brought our own guns but had to use their safety goggles and earmuffs. We used one shooting station and each took turns. It was a lot of fun and good to gain some experience. Not to mention that there was a very attractive guy in the shooting station next to us so we had some eye candy. :) We are definitely planning to go again. We were told that Mondays is ladies night. A well stocked shop with really good customer service. On a golf weekend with a few co-workers / friends, we decided to go shooting, Yelped a few ranges and chose the Firing Line. Two of us were experienced shooters (USPSA), one had shot once or twice before, the other had never touched a gun in his life. The guys at the shop were great; no attitudes, just experience and knowledge. They went over the rules of the range, stressed safe gun handling and helped the novices choose a firearm to rent. Within five minutes of shooting, the newbie was grinning ear to ear and was well on his way to a new hobby. The range itself is very well ventilated, clean, comfortable, with well lit shooting points. We had a great time. The bottom line is that I would have no reservations about taking my family here, or to introduce someone to the sport of shooting. An all-around good place. This is a highly recommended facility with all of the works. CWL class was great! Instructor was real nice; Rob did a great job instructing the ASL users. The range room was clean and in standard! The staffs were friendly. Very Positive experience. Ill definitely go there. The price are reasonable. Ammunition price is in right price. Welcoming, & friendly. I was there yesterday, I was shooting with a pistol which was too small for my hand. had.t shot in a while, ended up being cut by the action I spilled as significant amount of blood throughout their booth &facility as I exited. Staff was quick to respond and prioritize clean-up for waiting customers.They gave me little to no grief as they nodded to whom I assume was lowest man on the totem pole, to get to work cleaning up the mess. I've since upgraded to a large frame 45 and intend to return sooner than later Otherwise, there were only two other shooters, a man and a I assume his wife, who appeared to be having a very satisfying experience. A good range with helpful staff. The rental selection is good and the prices are fair. So all in all I would go back there for sure. The only down side to the range is it's not air conditioned and it's very hot when you are firing. That aside a very enjoyable experience! read more

Trying to purchase a 22 rifle so our daughter can learn to shoot and learn proper handling of a firearm. Went in, found what we wanted, did background check but was pending. Paid for lessons and rifle. Waited, waited, called, stopped in. Payment was May 31, 2019. Went in December 2019 to check on status and told still pending. Went in March 2020 and told to email FDLE. Emailed them and was told approval was October 2019, Firing Line was notified but would have to do background check again because it has been 30 days. Went in, told Firing Line that and completed background check again and immediately approved. Firing line owner's daughter said we would need to speak with the owner even though they did have credit card receipt. Said she was too busy to deal with it. Told her we wanted owner to phone within 24 hours. Owner's wife phoned, we tried to explain the situation and we were told we would have to come in Sunday when her husband was there to discuss in person. We still tried to explain the situation that firearm was paid for along with lessons for our daughter (owner's daughter even told us that our daughter took her lessons already which of course she hadn't) but she said she would not discuss it and hung up on us. Went in next morning to be greeted by a "security guard" even though the owner's daughter walked in just before us. She was hiding and other employee who had helped us initially walked out the door to let the "security guard" handle things. He stated we would get our money back and hands us a check. We are completely confused on their reaction to a firearm which was already paid for. Our take on it, they lost our paperwork including anything to do with the purchase and are covering their asses. read more

I'm a total newbie to the wide world of owning any type of firearm. With this as my starting point and certainly knowing I should never believe what I see in movies or TV, I decided I'd like to try an entry level point of a sport I've always found very fascinating when watching REAL shootists compete in real tournaments and also the reality show Top Shot which covers every type of weapon possible, but each contestant had to use a handgun every competition for one reason or another. It was very informative regarding each weapon and the differences from one model or brand to another when similar. All that out of the any to let any readers know from what perspective I give my review and rating. I gave four stars because I've seen several stores without firing ranges with many more long guns than what this store offered. Tons of new and use handguns in all styles, and calibers. I let the salesperson know my first time there I knew very little and he was kind enough to let me hold every type of hand and long gun I wanted to at least feel with my own hands. All the while I was discussing what I wanted to own a firearm for and he said I was like most newbies and want something that could do "everything", so I had to reign in my expectations mainly to fit my very small budget. Once it was decided between two handguns in the same price range, and both were brand new. I had to choose from a small profile 9mm or a larger grip and overall size in a .22LR rim fire caliber. Much to my pleasant surprise, they let me fire one mags worth of rounds from the 9mm once I had paid for it as I had never held or fired a gun before, I wanted to be certain before I walked out the door. I'm glad I did as I found that I had a very hard time holding this small gun and I barely fit my ring finger around the grip. Then the first time I pulled the trigger after being schooled on proper holding, standing and prepare for recoil by the salesman...WOW was I shocked at what a huge bag this caliber had, plus a pretty hefty kick for such a small gun. I fired the mag empty, but I knew this gun was not for me and to upgrade to a "full size" 9mm was way out of my budget. I asked if I could switch to the .22LR made by Smith & Wesson. They agreed with not much fuss and they had to redo the sales slip and then I went into the range to fire this lighter caliber with a much larger grip and nicely balanced weight overall. It holds 10 in what they call a mini mag. If was immediately just by loading the mag obvious I had made the right choice this time and had positive feelings right from how much easier it was to load this mag compared to the other. Then I took my first shot with this gun and it felt perfect for my newbie status and I felt very comfortable with it in my hand before during and after firing. Plus it was understandably quieter, not that it mattered after that 9mm bang that shocked the crap outta me. LOL. Then the following 9 bullets I shot at the target, I was able to pierce every number dead center 3 out of 5 times. Beginners luck I guess, but then I was able to make clean groups as I felt very comfortable working with this gun. If it not for the kindness and patience of the sales staf who went above and beyond to make me feel just fine as a newbie and walked me through each weapon and the extra plus of giving me a chance to fire my first pick before leaving for no extra charge that allowed me to discover I had made the wrong choice for the beginner I am. I doubt many other shops would have let me do this, but in any case...I'm very pleased with their service, knowledge and excellent method of dealing with someone like me new to this sport and getting started on the right foot instead being "stuck" with something uncomfortable to handle and would not be any fun shooting targets with. They have their own firing range for a non-member fee of $15.00 for as long as you wish to shoot. They have specials for combinations of buying ammo and using their range. And likely much more I have not yet learned about the shop. And it also seems that in the Port Richey area, they are the only firing range local. I'm not being negative with this remark, just accurate as I was looking for an outdoor range as it is quite loud even with double ear protection, plus it does get quite warm even with all the vents, blowers in each stall. I wish they had the facility for outdoor target shooting at moveable targets to practice tracking and firing. Perhaps if I enjoy this as much in the future I have so far, I'd love to compete. No matter the result, I just enjoy competing in any types of skill like archery which I was quite good at read more
