Shawn is the owner of the Hillsboro location and he has legitimate teaching skills. He has a unique way of detailing drills and coaching that makes you want to learn and makes complete sense. If you train Jiu Jitsu, you know what I mean. Not to mention, this gym wins a lot of competitions and has everyone from just about every profession, culture, age and size. It's great for anyone and the people are great! My wife and kids train too and they really like it. Wish I started here from the beginning. Then he actually helped me find the match schedule, on-line so I could see when it is. I told him that, my mistake was our secret but his kindness could not go un-acknowledged.

The courts are in fantastic condition , the new lighting is amazing and now there are heated courts ! The management is hugely responsive to any request a forgotten can of balls for a usta match, a last minute racket restringing and court preference accommodations. The pros that teach at LOTC are top notch. The classes are fun and fast paced and have improved my game immensely. The people who play on the usta and City league teams are not only great tennis players but genuinely nice and fun to play with. I feel so fortunate to have such a tennis gem in this community.

Trainers are super nice and able to give suggestions for modifications. Likely better if you know your own modifications. Lighter weights are to the right of the door if you need 5 pounds. The traditional class which is half cardio and half weight training is a little different than pre-Covid. The biggest difference is they focus on what you're doing, not where your heart rate is. At my class we did a lot of hills. And there was no mention of aiming for red zone. There were mentions of last push or empty your tank, but not aiming for specific colors. Which was great for me because when my heart rate gets too high, I pass out. The heart rate system is really amazing in each machine from treadmill or roar can identify your band and you can choose your profile for your machine. It doesn't work on the weights, ( choosing your station because it doesn't matter). I think the heart rate monitor is optional. However, having that option to identify for the machine and tracking little more detail of what you're doing and getting the email somebody at the end is very motivating and really great. I really liked everyone on staff and everyone was very welcoming and kind even if you're not a 20 year-old fitness influencer. I also really like how there's plenty of parking and very easy access to the facility.

Studio is spacious with coaches station and screens in the middle, making for easy visibility during instruction. Their selection of apparel and OTF gear is fun and class milestone arm straps have been added. I've observed in the fitness industry that good coaching comes and goes, and that's okay! Coaches grow and move on, too! My most favorite up and coming elite status coach is Everett. He loves a diverse and interesting playlist! Joined about a year ago,…read morealong with my wife and young daughters with the goal of teaching my daughter with severe anxiety how to swim. First few times visiting were fine- facilities are a bit outdated, but staff friendly enough. 4th time or so, when I am one one one with my daughter trying to teach her how to swim, the lifeguard informs us that we need to put a lifejacket on her. I explained to him that we cannot because it will trigger a panic attack, he gets his supervisor and insists. We acquiesce trying to anvoid a scene (mind you I am a physician annd former lifeguard being told what to do with my special needs child by an 16 year old) and of course it causes a horrible panic attack, complete with screaming and intense tears etc. Quite a painful scene for us. Supervisor arrives and asks us to leave if we don't immediately put on the life jacket on her (horribly embarrassing for myself, my daughter, and our family). Informs us that if we enroll her in a private class that she would be allowed to swim with me without a lifejacket ($$$). When we explain her special needs, She tells us that they understands special needs inner concerns are unwarranted because they are special needs themselves. After this episode, I contacted the leadership who put me in touch with the director who straight up denied this offer was made (clearly was not there), would not apologize, and was unwilling to meet us halfway to any degree for our family's needs. Thankfully, they refunded our membership cost for the year, and I will never ever go back. I am giving two stars instead of one tub reflect a few friendly staff members who tried to make this right before I got to the director who more or less told us to piss off with our special needs family. Is this place family friendly? Not particularly. Is this place special needs friendly? Not at all. Their inflexibility was stunningly hurtful and inappropriate I hope they see this review and know exactly who we are and can reflect on this interaction with a new member family.
