Great Beach!…read more Beautiful beach with clear water and pet friendly. I wanted to take my dogs to a clean beach for a while and I decided to go to Sandy Hook Beach. It was a wonderful experience. The recreation center is huge, miles and miles of beach, park, lake, and trails. Pets and their owners may visit bayside beaches throughout the year. Pets are only allowed on oceanside beaches from September 15-March 15. Pets are not permitted on oceanside beaches during the spring and summer, but you can still take them to the parks, trails and other areas. We went in October and entrance was free, we parked near the beach, and we spent a wonderful day.

Parking is charged between Memorial and Labor days, no dogs on the beach between March 15 to September 15 due to piping plover nesting season. Not a lot of shelling, some smooth stones to be picked up (you can wade in). There's also a clothing-optional beach (Gunnison?) as a part, too. Reasonably good facilities at the main parking lots (A-F). Fees are collected from 8 AM to 6 PM so if you arrive early, no charge. ($20/day and $100 for a season).

We have officially decided we are not coming back…read more This trip was strange to say the least, men touching themselves while watching the swimmers, my husband used the bathroom and had to go in a stall because there were men watching the others using the urinals and touching themselves inappropriately while they watched it was really weird this time around and we will not be coming back.

Beautiful area. Parking is $10. We came here for a rafting experience. We booked our activity a…read moremile or so away, and their staff were waiting for us at the river for entry. The beach itself is a huge outdoor recreation area. We saw plenty of families enjoying BBQs and the water. There are plenty of grassy areas if you're not interested in getting wet. There's plenty of parking and the bathrooms are large with showers, toilets and changing areas. I will say that the bathrooms are great early in the day but when we returned, they were horrendous. They were obviously never cleaned throughout the day and there was water and used sanitary items everywhere, no toilet paper left, and the stalls were disgusting. I advise to do an early morning visit and leave around midday to avoid what I saw. I ended up just changing in my car. There was no way I would gave my kid changing in those conditions. We stayed at the Wyndham cabins nearby, I'm the Fall years ago, and never even knew this placed existed until accompanying friends on a rafting trip. I would definitely come back but never will stay late unless I'm staying nearby and can wait to change clothing.

Showers and bathrooms available. Really enjoyable and peaceful place when less crowded. Planning on coming back here with the family. The beach has an entrance fee.
