Horseshoe Lake Park is a Fantastic recreational area that offers Swimming Fishing and Picnics in the warmer months. There's a series of paths for Running, Biking, and Walking - very dog friendly as long as they're leashed and picked up after. Horseshoe Lake Park has 11 Football, Baseball, Softball, Field Hockey & Soccer fields plus Basketball and Volleyball courts. The Imagination Station is Great for the kids it's literally a Castle Playground with Slides and Swing sets and alot of cool stuff for them to burn off youthful energy. The Park has a Memorial Dedication Area that Honors the Service Men & Women from Roxbury who served in Every War. The Park also recognizes and Honors those Heros who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in the September 11th attacks. An I beam from the World Trade Center is on display in order to serve as a constant reminder that we will Never Forget those who gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Freedom. The Fair Grounds Pavilion is huge and has outdoor charcoal grills, picnic tables plus the Band Shell Stage area. This is a Great place to bring the Family all year long especially if you have cabin fever in the Winter. Get out there.

Nice place to walk. It's about 1.5 miles around. Most of the people that frequent the park are friendly and Courteous. The lake is clean an pretty to look at while walking.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful lake hidden right in the town of Roxbury, NJ. There is a private lake club for swimming in the summer for a fee. They even have small boats for rental and a concession stand to purchase food when open. Towards the entrance there are several basketball courts when you enter the park. There is plenty of parking . In the front as you drive in is the Roxbury Preforming Art center. They host all kinds of performances. They have a wide variety of shows. While driving around the back end of the park, I noticed there is a bike, walking and jogging path. There is also room for cars to maneuver. The park has a very large parking lot right across from the bike path and if your lucky you can park in a shaded spot where all the large trees surround the perimeter. There is another beautiful dirt walking path completely surrounded by large trees and the park itself is surrounded by large trees and park benches all around for sitting and looking out over the lake. You could have a nice picnic lunch for two. If you would like to have a picnic , or birthday party you can use the large covered over hang which is right next to the lake. I'm not sure if there is a rental fee. ( so call to book your party.) On the far end is a beautiful white gazebo. It's a great shaded spot to take graduation pictures like we did, or wedding pictures. On the lake was a beautiful swan swimming and some Canadian Geese with their goslings. Children can run around and play. You can also do some fishing. The water here is crystal clear and there is a nice breeze off the lake on a hot summer day. If your in the area check this place out . You won't be disappointed....

This was my first time coming here because my son had a track meet. It was a very nice park. They had a really nice set up for the track meet venue and they also have a playground area that was really cute. They also have a lot of spots not too far away to grab some food. I was never in this area before but really liked it and plan to venture out this way again.

Even the locals have no idea how much Wildlife our local little lake is hiding. These are from one walk around the lake.

Full disclosure: I quit mid-course (level 4 of 5 - "Red") and it was embarrassing to hold up the…read moregroup of college girls behind us while one of the guides had to scurry up to my platform so he could safely bring me back down to terra firma. (On Father's Day, no less. When I was hoping I could keep up with my kids and at least finish the "advanced elevation" course.) That being said... we had an absolute blast. (Myself and the Mrs. were beaten and bruised and battered and sore afterwards, but we loved it.) The weather wasn't ideal (cold and rainy) but I think that was a blessing in disguise. The workers and guides were all incredible. (They were all supportive, friendly, and passionate about the adventure we were about to jump into.) Each course got a wee bit higher and more challenging and within the actual course I appreciated their 'method to the madness' - they'd break up the taxing (physical) stuff with a zipline as a 'breather' before you had to start to hustle again on some crazy shifting logs or cargo netting. As someone with a bit of experience over the years (ziplining at Hunter Mountain, Ausable Chasm in the Adirondacks, TreeEscape at Mt. Creek) FLG X was by far the most exacting. (But take that with a grain of salt... if you're not in the AARP age range - like myself - you might have a blast and be able to reach the Black Course, including those daunting monkey bars!) Worth every penny, for sure. (Pro tip: make sure you bring or buy a pair of rugged gloves... they're essential.) "GUIDE! GUIDE! GUIDE!"

Today our adventure led to this place . I always watched my wife zip line in Florida and Louisiana…read morebut i was to scared Finally i promised my wife i would go and give it a try Ive been recovering from some bad trauma from 2011 and finally i prepared myself for this day im not fully recovered but i was able to do a few zips lol. Im also horrified of heights but i was determined I went through a brief video about the corse and some safety. The young lady from the desk gave a excellent training on safety and proper use of the equipment Then my wife and i was introduced to Matthew our guide Matthew explained everything step by step as we went along My wife had plenty of experience and with Matthew we felt safe for myself and my wife I took my time climbing the latter and Matthew assured me i secured and safe He really gained my trust . I had to take my time and rest for two to five min at a time and Matthew really gave me the confidence i needed to continue Im 60 years old i not old but iam a little broken lol I was a little dehydrated i needed water i thought i was in trouble but no Matthew asked one of the other highly trained staff to get me a bottle of water After that i zipped a few times with no issues i was doing really good. But my arms were going dull because of some prior injuries Matthew helped go down the ladder and i was ok Matthew is a very calm individual professional who knows what he is doing you can tell he had the best training. He really made my experience great I have to add it wasn't very busy so thank god The staff is excellent and these young men and women run a tight ship safety is their priority and second is for their guest to enjoy themselves. The zip line course is great for any level my wife said this was the best one yet and she has been to many. If i can do it i think most people can to Use common sense, listen to the guides they are there for you I cant ever do this ever again because of my injuries of a bad accident i had in 2011 but this was on my bucket list I always wanted to scuba dive but that dream is only a dream But i got to zip line and at no point at all i wasn't in any kind of danger Thank you Matthew for doing your job above and beyond of any on my expectations The harness and the clips and all the safety equipment are the best . You have to listen to the guides have common courtesy and have patience and use the equipment properly and pay attention to what you are doing Its not all to difficult trust me im not to bright and i had a great time Matthew you are a true champ and you will succeed anything you do. I will be for ever grateful i will be recommending this FLG X to everyone. One more important thing thank you so much for making sure my wife and the rest of the quests are safe and everyone was enjoying themselves Great corse also. The corse and zip line are the best its a must try All the staff are professionals and they all will keep you safe Thank you guys so much forever grateful for the experience CHEF RAMOS
