The extensive sushi menu was nice to see, and you just can't stop with just a couple of sushis; you have to try as many as you can when you see new ones you've never heard of before. Selena is a personable, professional, and knowledgeable server, so she was able to answer all of our questions.

It's a shame because the establishment is great and the ambiance is reminiscent of upscale Japanese dining. Service was very slow at first. It took 25 minutes to get our soups and salads and an additional 10 to get our sushi rolls. I ordered two hand rolls, when they got to my table they were in the shape of cigars, more like uncut rolls than hand rolls. Our server seemed to be in a disagreement with the host and kept disappearing for extended periods of time. Our cook was something else. After my son told him it was my birthday, he seemed to do things to intentionally make the experience miserable. He started by pouring Yum Yum sauce on the noodles while they were on the grill, much to the disgust of mine as well as other parties at the table. As he served food, he gave extras to everyone but me and kept saying things like "birthday girl, how do you like that?" It's fine, I want food that I paid for and wasn't expecting extra, it just seemed sort of odd. He proceeded to undercook my scallops and overcook my filet. When I asked for extra Yum Yum dip, he slid a greasy bottle from his cart over to me. The party next to us looked at him and said "Are you serious?" It sucks that I drove 30 minutes and picked this place because of the high praise it had received on here. Will not be returning.

I drove a long distance because I wanted to try this restaurant…read more After waiting for the host to seat me, I then waited over 10 minutes without anyone checking on me (no water, drink, apps, no server, no greeting, no suggestions). A group of four who entered after me--the same group I had held the door open for--were kindly greeted, asked if they had questions about the menu, and offered drinks and appetizers immediately. Other guests who came in after me also received friendly service. When the host finally came to my table, there was no greeting or welcome. He simply asked, "You know what you want?" Order a drink. My drink took several more minutes to come, and the interaction felt dismissive, as if he had an issue with me dining here. He returned with the drink and asked again, "do you know what you want or need some time". I proceeded to order an appetizer and ramen. After asking one question about my ramen order (no pork), and being stared down by the kitchen cooks, I realized I no longer felt comfortable staying. He (host) said "it is, the way that it is." I politely thanked the server, handed back the menu, and left. He said nothing and looked relieved. I spent my money at another restaurant nearby, where I was treated with kindness and respect from the moment I walked in (And they were extremely busy). I gladly left a 40% tip on a meal because her excellent service deserves recognition. I know what I personally observed, customers who arrived after me were welcomed warmly and served promptly, while I was Ignored and treated very poorly. I read on their social media, that the servers loved first time customers and were happy to make suggestions and substitutes proteins. If this isn't the case, their advertising is deceptive. This is not a place where every customer is valued. I do not recommend. Not a fun way to spend your Friday evening and certainly not a fun way to spend your money. Go somewhere else.

We also tried the soft-shell crab--it was beautifully presented and tasted incredibly fresh. One guest ordered the seafood combination dinner and said everything was well-cooked, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The fried rice that came with the seafood dinner was cooked very nicely with egg and great texture. Another had the orange chicken, and although there were several chili peppers in the sauce, it wasn't too spicy--just right. The orange flavor really came through, and everything was fried crisp, not soggy. I ordered the Dragon and Phoenix dinner (General Tso's chicken and shrimp with onion and ginger slices), and it was hands down the best General Tso's I've ever had. The shrimp were beautifully cooked, and I opted for lo mein instead of rice--it was fresh, lightly sauced, and not oily at all. This is not a buffet, and honestly, it felt like stepping back 40 years to when Chinese restaurants were more intimate, authentic, and personal. The staff was friendly and courteous, and the time from ordering to receiving our food was impressively quick. I highly recommend this hidden gem. They also offer sushi and a variety of lunch specials (we visited outside of lunch hours), and everything looked so good that I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.
