I don't recommend that you come to this establishment. The wait time including getting the food prepared was well over 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I am not sure if the older gentleman is the owner or just a manager but he is attempting to pack the customers in at each table like sardines. Before you come to this establishment ensure that you find out how many cooks they have available and at that point make your determination if this is the establishment that you would like to dine at. We just moved to the area and this was the first sit down restaurant we tried. We were met at the front door by the manager/owner. He sat us and was on top of our drink and orders the whole time. Very professional and very nice. The portions sizes are huge.. like seriously huge. If your doing habatchi you will not need sushi. My wife couldn't even finish 1/3 of her plate. Ordered the steak and spicy chicken. The steak was cooked exactly the way I ordered it and that is a first! Usually at this type of restaurant it is always well done, not medium the way I like it. The fried rice today was unbelievably good as was the cabbage. The salad dressing is a favorite and I will one day figure out or find the recipe. The cook was the best we have had at Shogun, great personality, interacted well with his customers. He cooked for a group of soldiers after cooking for my table and he launched a piece of food to see if one soldier could catch it in her mouth. She did and the place erupted in applause and laughter. Sodium... Just okay, my least favorite in Columbus thus far. Locals took me there once I'd relocated here. I've tried two locations, and neither were impressive. My fav place for dinner sushi... They have a lot of house specialities and there are so many amazing-tasting ones, I'm not afraid to try something new. The house soup is delicious, too. I mainly eat at the one in Montgomery Alabama, but I heard there was one in Columbus, GA also. Everytime I go I get the Geisha Special that is Steak and Chicken with Rice and veggies. I love Japanese steakhouses and this one suffices. I am not crazy about the sharing a table with total strangers concept but know it comes with the territory at a Japanese steakhouse. I love Shogun!! I can't believe all of the bad reviews!! I've never had a bad experience at either one in Columbus. I love the salad dressing and the filet. If you go at lunch, order a side of veggies as they don't serve them at lunch unless you order the vegetable plate or the side of vegetables. Visited this place on Saturday night should have know something was up when all the other parking lots were full and it was only half full. My wife and I were sat at a table with other patrons and another table was sat about ten minutes after we arrived. They got their orders taken before us and received their food before us, receiving salads and soups. When our chef arrived he didn't have all of his supplies and kept calling to the kitchen for things he needed. The food wasn't that great either. When our cook came out he wasn't friends. 4 of us at the table ordered extra rice, there wasn't enough. Don't think it's fair we had to pay for something we didn't get. I used to love this place when it located on Manchester Expressway in Columbus....since it burned down they built a new one by the strip mall.
