Had no trouble being seated even though the waiting area was full. But the MUSIC was soooo loud we couldn't hear each other across the table AND even worse, we couldn't hear the waitress who stood right next to us. Eventually, someone just turned it off -- which was great because there was plenty of noise at the hibachi tables to liven up the place. Soup and salad came out very quickly as did drinks. They were very quick to remove any bowls/plates. My meal came out, and as the waitress was about to set it down, she noticed that part of it was missing. So, rather than set it down and bring the rest later, she took it away. Between five and ten minutes later she brought THE SAME PLATE back. I commented that I hoped it was not now cold and she said no it was hot. NOT! But, no way to complain as she had disappeared. Later, she came back with a free dessert to make up for "waiting." My husband's sashimi was tough, so he was not happy. My beef teriyaki was cooked perfectly, even though barely warm, but cut into such big chunks, it was hard to eat. My husband's water glass was empty, but no refills were offered until it was time to leave. We'll go back and give it another go as there seems to be a lot of interesting items on the menus and the place has "potential" if they can get their act together. We sat at the hibachi table. The chef was very entertaining and funny. The food was amazing. This is the first time my daughter loved eating her vegetables. We had the chicken/steak with fried rice and veggies. It was all very yummy. The steak was cooked perfect and the chicken was very juicy. I can't wait to go again. Same with my family. I just ordered Udon, Pork Katsu, and 2 sushi for a delivery. Menu says 'July only'. I assume they will stop doing the delivery. Food was arrived 44 minutes after I called. Not bad. Here is my take. Udon - I've never had this kind of Udon before. It tasted like a wonton soup with Udon noodles in it. I'm certain they are Chinese making Japanese foods. A lot of chinese ingredients you can see. IMO, this is a total fail. If you are going to serve me Chinese oriented Japanese then please say so. How dare they call this an Udon? Call it a Wonton Udon. Taste was not good. Soup base didn't have any flavor. It was watery with not much seasoning. 1/10 at best. Pork Katsu - Pork Katsu was sliced in thin strips. Underneath it was layered with variety of sauted veggies. Same veggies found in Udon. Chinese style. Meat was dry. Batter was mediocre at best. They forgot to include rice. Where was my rice? And the worst? They forgot to include the sauce. 0/10. It's unforgivable to not include 2 critical elements of this dish. 2 orders of Tuna rolls - What can I say. It's on par with a grocery level sushi. Tuna's color was odd. It was more like deep purple. Smelled like a fish. They forgot to include soy sauce. 1/10 California rolls - This was free. Included when you spend $25 or more. It wasn't bad. 2/10 and of course, they didn't include a chopstick, fork or a napkin. Not even a fortune cookie. I'm not expecting top quality Japanese cuisine in Casper. I understand that. But the level of food they've served to me was bad. They forgot to include ton of things. It was so bad that I had to call them to warn them about this poor service. Receptionist apologized to me offering me a free rice or soup next time i dine in. Will I ever go there and dine in? lol. hell no. not with my own money. I have no idea how their hibachis are. I assume it's not gonna be any better. I know these kind of restaurants. they look at Casper as a big opportunity because there is no competition. They jack up the price and feed us poor 1 star level food. $14.95 for Wonton Udon which didn't even resemble Udon? $13.95 for Pork Katsu which was basically thinly cut fried pork? $5.95 for 6 piece tuna rolls(it was ridiculously tiny) I'm so disgusted by the overpricing by most casper restaurants. The level of food here is found in a small to-go chinese restaurants in any major cities. They would charge half the price. I paid $45 and paid $6 gratuity. It's the worst $51 i've ever spent. Normally i'm not picky when it comes to eating in casper. This is my first Yelp post ever. Will never ever try this place again. read more

I went with a group of friends recently and it was a very enjoyable experience. The stall was very friendly, well dressed & professional. The scorpion drink was one of the best mixed drinks I've ever had, we also had some sushi as appetizers which were very good! Most of us then ordered a main course and the chef who made the food in front of us was very friendly and fun. Overall my friends and I all had a very good time and I have to say it's one of the best places to eat in Casper. read more

This was NOT a good experience! I have visited many Shoguns and other dining such as Shoguns but wanted my parents to see it. Came to town and six of us went there. Charley the chef treated us terrible, stained my shirt by squirting some brown liquid across the burner that missed and hit me in the face and clothes. Did NO "show" at all, was rude and left. After I got the 120.00+ bill and asked to speak the manager, I was told "Charley got fired and he came out to do our table as his last, we are sorry". Is this my problem? I pay for a service and I would like the service, this was terrible. No comps or anything for his crappy attitude. Food portion was also very small as I am sure Charley didn't care. Needless to say, none of us will be back, EVER! Terrible customer service and a large bill for nothing. read more

This is the best sushi I've tried so far in Casper, and the Hibachi is a fun experience too! If you don't want the socializing, you can also get the delicious hibachi at a more private table without the show. Great place! read more

Shogun for dinner last night. 45 minute wait which we spent at the sushi counter, good sushi. Great music, disco/retro, nice vibe with that. But very much a "family" feel with lots of kids. Reminded me of Disneyland. Three course dinner with bland boring salad, "onion flavored" water for soup, the hibachi course was tasty and the "show" was fun. People at our table did a Saki Bomb which the staff does a yelling contest followed by a fist pound on the table which causes the Saki to fall in the beer. That was kind of fun. Overall, Shogun is very overrated but for Casper, all things considered, a fun night out if you don't mind lots of small children, constant birthday songs, mediocre food and very slow service. This place has amazing food, when it gets to you in a timely manner. Unfortunately we waited over an hour after ordering to even see our chef, was not pleased with the attentiveness of their cooks. After we even made a reservation more than a week in advance they could not get our food prepared. Was very displeased with the overall experience, luckily it was in good company. Never again!! We have been eating and ordering from Shogun for almost 3 years!!! Just ordered for myself, boyfriend and two kids.... never got my meal and told them to cancel it. It soup was brought to the table anyway after everyone was finished and we we subsequently charged for it! The meal was brought to the table in a to go container. When we first arrived the girl that seated us was wearing jeans and wasn't professionally dressed at all but really nice. I ordered from the part of the menu that wasn't supposed to have the soup and salad but it came anyway. The salad was a big chunk of iceberg lettuce smothered with Thousand Island dressing and the soup was more of a broth with a few onions floating in it. The main course was amazing, the chef at our station was super talented and really funny. The servings are huge so make sure you're hungry when you get there. I didn't really like having to sit with strangers at the cook station but it's part of the atmosphere. I really enjoyed it and look forward to going next time I'm in Casper! read more

I think this will be a great place to eat once the kinks are worked out. We ate there mid afternoon with little wait and also again during a dinner rush(6:30pm) Making a reservation helped to make our wait only 20 minutes, instead of 30+, but it seemed really unorganized. Even though you make a reservation, you are not added to their wait list until you arrive and check in. One person has the iPad to check you in and there are 25 angry people waiting for the host to return to the station so they can check in to get placed on the wait list?! Food is good, I don't care for their dipping sauces as much as other habatchi places, but it's ok. The wait staff is still learning and seems spread thin and overwhelmed. Overall we will return again, most likely in the off hours and wait a while to let the staff get a little more comfortable with their jobs. I've been there and had it delivered a couple of times and it is about as terrible as it gets. The general food is at a defrosted Sam's club level and sushi is not a legit acceptance for raw fish. If you really like sushi and are looking for a less than clean alternative to legitimacy then go here and love your lumps you will take. read more

I don't really want to be too hard on them, since they just opened, but our experience was less than satisfactory. We walked in and the entry was packed! The poor hostess was being yelled at by people who had reservations and also by people who wanted to know how long the wait was. She kept saying she didn't know because someone else had the iPad with the times on it. Pretty soon she's crying and the man with the iPad is scrambling to seat people. I asked the hostess how long of a wait it would be, and of course she had no idea. So we chose to sit at a regular table, a server came right away and took our drink order and we ordered a cold appetizer since we had already waited for about 30 mins. After he left the table behind us got up and walked out because after they had gotten drinks, nobody came back to take their order. After 45 mins we got our appetizer and my dinner, after another 20 mins we got our son's order, after another 10 mins I found our server and told him to box up my wife's dinner because we had had enough. The food was good, but I'm afraid the servers are being stretched too thin. He had tables at both ends of the restaurant and grills he was waiting on also. They definitely have some kinks to work out, but we will be back (with a reservation). Edit... We just got home and discovered my wife's order was wrong. read more
