My daughters and I lucked out having a Shogun Japanese Steak House in Bentonville, AR, within walking distance of our hotel back on July 24, 2025. Actually I planned it that way because we all had never partook in Hibachi. We were seated right away by a very pleasant hostess at a table with a group of 8 others. Our waiter was nice, but a bit clingy and lingering for my liking. My oldest kiddo volunteered to have fried eggs chucked to her after others failed to catch their hands free. She was so prideful when the entire table roared with cheers. Lol. The food was good except my medium rare steak was quickly overcooked. *sigh* + Shogunate Old Fashioned ($7) = these were great + Ramune lychee flavor ($4) = my oldest liked it a lot + Coke ($3.50) + Hibachi dinners with steak were $32.95 while shrimp and tuna were $31.95 My daughters enjoyed looking around at all the aquariums when we were done. Spicy crunch sushi was pretty tasty, and good quantity for the price, as far as sushi goes. Also stayed crunchy, even after driving 20 minutes home. They probably used panko. Hostess was nice. Very Japanese-style interior, although I was only in there for a minute. read more

Also, I will not complain about the prices because of the times we are living through. The only negative is the suggested tip amounts on the check. The percentages were based on the total after tax and not the subtotal before tax. Tip amounts should not be based on tax. read more

The waiter was amazing, sadly the dining experience was one of the worst. As a manager I would not allow a table of 20 children to yell at the top of their lungs in a place where I charge $20+ per dish. Ruined the entire meal and entire night. read more

We were able to get a group of eight in on short notice. Sushi is about the sushi rice and unfortunately it wasn't that flavorful. The sushi was only OK. The cooked dishes were very good and huge portions. And of course there is always the flaming volcano. Nice for large groups and the service is fast and friendly. read more

We came to Shogun for a company dinner snd it was a blast. We had 16 people and the chef and wait staff were great and entertaining. The food was good. Hibachi sometimes turns into super dry food but this was not the case here at Shogun. I ordered the Filet, medium rare and it was cooked great. Flavors were good and the sides were still hot when my meat was done. Drinks and food for 16 people with tip was all under $900. Definitely a great time and would recommend. I called this evening to place an order as I've always done for nearly 2 decades, I don't ask to speak to a manager to ensure it was written And prepared properly for a simple accommodation Based on the severe impact, it would have prepped otherwise. The "Manager of 10 years- Jose"-- Who is currently in a minor management position, debated and ARGUED with me for nearly 45 minutes In order to have my requested accommodated, I would need to be at the restaurant to place the order as opposed to calling in it (keeping things simple here) hence- They requested that is not need to go order was simply prepared on a Teppanyaki grill and not in the kitchen, so could be properly cleaned based on the circumstances, I've never had an issue with this request. Furthermore, as a manager for him to ask me to come in waste the hostess, the server and then take up occupancy at a table to get a order to go in the way that he wanted me to do. It is one of the most absurd Order of procedures To ask of someone, When this has been accommodated many times prior. His excuse was "I've never seen it done that way." If a manager cannot make a small accommodation that could ultimately result in life or death for A customer based on allergies, Or regardless of the magnitude here. I don't know where they accommodating anyone pertaining to having great or good hospitality. I've never had the luxury of meeting this gentleman, after asking the owner, how long he had been a manager has brought to my knowledge, "not long". Furthermore, the secondary excuse he gave was aesthetically. What did it look like for a shift to prepare or place food items in a box while other customers were or would be at the table dining- My response to him was that it's accommodated all the time when I come in and sit at the grill and then I have a Secondary order that I place "to go"- The chef prepares it along with the rest of everyone's meals and boxes up the portion for that order, Our server will always bring the compliments such as a soup and salad outside from the kitchen area to add to box/bag for take-out. As someone who owns an operate, a local business associated with hospitality, I always make sure my guests, clients or customers are met with whatever their needs may be especially something feasible. To my advantage, gentleman had no idea who I was leading with that would've been tacky/lacked couth on my behalf of the business woman, regardless. I don't want my relationship or status in the community to affect the quality of customer service. I get when it should be an equal opportunity business. I've seen a time and time again a restaurant can Have immaculate execution in every area and poor management will absolutely run it into the ground every time. Sadly, I recognized this with the restaurant over the last 6 years Furthermore, with shutting down other locations, the lack of business, etc. We can't blame it all on Jose, but There's something missing somewhere and it's simple things like this that make a huge difference in someone's experience And representation of the business itself. In the event, you may counter a conflict or something that you would have to to speak to management about. I would avoid this location at all costs, Sam And Steven had the Fayettville location have always been spectacular in the customer service area. Bentonville has been struggling for quite some time, again...... These are the things. Made reservation and arrived 10 minutes early and was promptly seated. Rick was our server and our drinks were always refilled before even getting close to the bottom. I want to love this place - I really do. It's just very difficult to actually eat here. With a continual lack of adequate staff, they simply aren't able to actually feed many people. In the last 4 times I have tried to eat here, I have been turned away three times because the wait would have been 45 mins or more (to eat at the bar, not even at a hibachi station). I have watched others pop in and out again for the same reason. Considering that it is really expensive for the area (and a credit card surcharge to boot), you'd think they could attract more staff. In any case, I will keep popping in once in a while hoping to get to eat here. If they could get enough kitchen staff, maybe I could order takeout from GrubHub or such, but they don't do that. Although the food and cooking experience here was as good as always, this place is badly in need of some upgrades. Carpet is taped down with duct tape, there was leftover food at the hibachi where we were seated, and it was HOT in there. The ceilings are discolored and carpet is grimy. I truly think this place is way overpriced and over rated. Came here with a party of 15 and tried to seat everyone close by but nope they had us spread out which was crazy. We had called and they were no problem we can get you a table side by side with 2 cooks. Ya well that didn't happen. So as far as service we had the lady couldn't keep up with 1 table so they gave her to our other party as well. By the time the drinks came out our appetizers were already on the table. The steak was chewy and we all asked for medium but nope it came out done. The rice and the soup was really good. When we got our bill we bout fainted for the food we got which wasn't much at all. You know it's not enough if you have to eat a burger 2hrs later because your starving. There's better places to spend your money for lot better food. read more

The overall experience was good. I appreciate the very thorough cleaning of grill following our meal, however, it was the worst smell for the guests. I mean terrible, behind the stove awful. I know it's best to clean while hot and I can't ever imagine complaining about cleaning, but we were still eating. On a positive note, the scallops were great. The food was well-prepared and paced. We had a big party of 16. We were waiting for our table to get ready, and my 13 year old daughter had a bad neurological episode happen. We needed Advil and water ASAP. The hostess' at the front desk (I wish I knew their names) were SO kind. They immediately helped us with getting water and making sure my daughter was ok. Called to make a reservation, but was told since my party was only 2 people that it wasn't needed and they would be able to fit me right in- even though I insisted on making a reservation. Good stuff! Sushi is of consistent quality and selection is good. Always ask what specials are available - sometimes halibut, surf clam, big eye tuna. For those into creative rolls there are some real goodies - a recent special had a crab stuffed fresh jalapeno tempura fried. I've had a great sashimi salad as well - all the sushi bar offerings would get them a 4-5 star rating. I did the hibachi for the first time this week. It was exactly the expected - you get some entertainment with your dinner and do so at the expense of good service - drinks, etc. were painful to come by. Also, I ordered the salmon teriyaki, and it was a salmon steak, not a fillet. A thin, skin-attached, dark stripe included, fishy-tasting salmon steak. Considering the beautiful fillets used for the salmon sushi, I did not see that coming! The taste was strong and unappealing and neither I, nor the other person at the table who ordered it, actually ate it. For a sushi eater to not eat the teriyaki because it's "too fishy" - I'd think we can agree that's BAD! So I'd have to give the hibachi 3 stars. I'll split the difference and go with 4. Attended a 40th birthday celebration and we were sat at a grill in a private room which was nice. There was 13 of us so we more than wrapped around one side of the grill. We were able to visit for awhile but then they seated another group right on top of us with 4 little kids. C'mon. Really? So the adult conversation had to change and because they had their own "show" delayed after ours, those of us on their end couldn't hear anything. It was a big downer. I give them 3 stars only because the food was good and cooked as I ordered it. Service of the wait staff was good to keep my drink filled.
