Shiekh is a dying chain as the company filed for bankruptcy a few years ago, they're shrinking in…read moresize by closing down a lot of their locations, San Diego was no exception, as the location in Plaza Bonita closed and become a VR game store, not they have a smaller one in Chula Vista mall, hiding behind a bunch of restaurants, lucky for them they have a partnership with Sangre Mia by actor Diego Tinoco to attract some customers, but they didn't do very well either with line management nor boosting up the sales, they could have printed out a bunch of Diego pictures and provided them to the people who waited in line, maybe they would get some business traction, instead they have signs posted on the windows, but they refused to give them to anyone, people who came to the meet and greet had to buy stuffs or bring their own items for Diego to sign, not Diego fault, but it is not a good business strategy here, hope you guys improve in the future especially you organized an event during Comic Con.

I understand big drops bring crowds, lines, and limited inventory, and that is all part of the game. What was frustrating was how quickly the store seemed to run out. I only had about 10 people in front of me, and customers were being let in two at a time for sizes. By the time there were just 2 people ahead of me, I was told there were only 2 sizes left. That raises a fair question: did the store only receive 10 to 12 pairs total? Because if so, that was less of a shoe drop and more of a shoe drizzle. I have heard rumors that pairs or sizes sometimes get held for friends. I cannot confirm that, and I do not want to make accusations without proof. Still, the way this release was handled did not inspire much confidence. Store ownership or management should take a closer look, because from a customer's perspective, it did not feel transparent or fair. I also think the store should be more transparent and post a sign the night before, or at least before the line builds, letting customers know exactly how many pairs they have available. That way people can decide whether it is worth waiting instead of standing in a long line only to find out there was almost no inventory to begin with. Respecting customers' time goes a long way. Customers who show up, wait in line, and follow the process should feel like they at least had a real shot. Unfortunately, this experience felt more like a raffle where nobody told us we were playing.

Those are the secrets behind the Shiekh Shoes shimmer at this location. Shiekh carries some of what I would consider rare colorways, at reasonable prices. Almost equally as important, they always seem to have sales going on, meaning the already reasonably priced items are even more deeply discounted. You already know I love a good discount, but if you didn't know, I also have a penchant for fly kicks, ya feel me? My one concern here, and perhaps it's due to buying discounted product with limited stock, is damaged goods. Again, I like fly kicks, so I will give them a solid look-over before purchasing. I've often noticed scratches, blemishes, and creases on their products. To be fair though, I very often find this to be the case with a number of shoe retailers, so it's not really a Shiekh problem. I'm just saying look before you buy, and don't be afraid to swap shoes from different boxes to get two "good" shoes. This is a practice I always use when buying shoes. It can be an annoyance to the salesperson though, so just be nice. As I was doing my best to get two "good" shoes, Elsa was extremely patient with me and my selection process. Even though they had to go back and forth into the stock room to search for additional pairs, they were super accommodating. Elsa was professional, engaging, and very understanding (again, my selection process is a thing). I greatly appreciate the friendly and efficient service they provided. Also, since the pair of shoes I had ordered online were now actually cheaper in-store, they were able to refund my purchase so I could repurchase them at the lower price. Heck Yeah! Albeit I was happy to find them here, the customer service was a miss. Had a bunch of teenaged associates who would not acknowledge me (yeah it was a bit busy) but standing there holding a shoe and looking around should have been a clue I want to buy. I flagged an associate down who grabbed the size I needed and told me to pay up front when I was ready to go. I got the pair and am fairly satisfied. Overall an okay buying experience but could've been better.
