I went in to shirleys in june, I had my bridesmaids dresses already at this point and shirley kept saying you dont plan a wedding around bridesmaids.. she was a bully I ended up with a dress that did not match my colors , I put a deposit of 170 down (via fiance over the phone on his debit card) .. I called a week or so later and advised the dress would not work as i would have to change my whole wedding asked if i could exchange and get something else ( i never took dress home she still has the dress and it was off the rack , she did not have to order it). I was told no, I could not exchange it ect.. but they would keep my 170 deposit.. I was ok with this , not happy but ok.... well today 7 weeks later she took 200 off of my fiance debit card for the dress...Shirley is a thief! read more

I have been going to Shirley's for YEARS! I got my 8th grade dress, multiple prom dresses and evening wedding dress there. Shirley and her staff are so kind and extremely professional. I never felt rushed, and I really enjoyed the process of dress shopping (as every bride should). There is a huge selection and the staff was very knowledgeable. I would recommend this store to any family or friends. They also sell Lipsense lipstick (which is hard to find around here) which is perfect for any big day. read more

PLEASE, PLEASE do not go here! Don't waste your time and money! I ended up having to buy a new dress 6 weeks before my wedding because the dress I purchased at Shirley's couldn't be altered even though Shirley assured me that it could be. You're also not allowed to take photos of yourself in the dress when your trying them on, only AFTER you purchase. This is absolutely ridiculous rule, no one knows how something as important as a wedding dress will look only from one tiny mirror in the dressing room under dim lighting. Shirley also ordered my bridesmaids dresses late and we had to spend $30 express shipping one of the dresses because she didn't order the dress when we purchased it (even though we asked her to). She then blamed my mother and I and called us both liars. Shirley also made fun of my wedding because all of my bridesmaids wore different dresses. She said to my mom that I'll regret that in a year. Shirley is just incredibly rude and doesn't value her customers at all. She's only concerned with making money. The store itself is cramped and its hard to find anything. The prices are outrageous and they don't have an on-site seamstress. Shirley isn't even accredited by the BBB. Please save yourself the trouble and DO NOT go here. Shortly after getting engaged in July my sister and I called a couple of the different bridal boutiques in the area to make appointments to try on dresses. We had an appointment at noon in Medford at David's Bridal and called to see if we could come in to Shirley's around 10 or 11. The owner told us we were waisting her time if we were going to David's Bridal. She told us we were going cheap and that it wasn't worth coming into Shirley's at all if we were just going to go to David's Bridal. She was very rude and obviously didn't want my service. She is going to go out of business at this rate. Made appointment here with my daughter to find her perfect dream wedding dress. First of all it's a great location, tons of parking and huge beautiful clean store. We showed up in search for my daughters destination wedding gown knowing it would be difficult since we wanted tradition gown, not simple beach dress. We had a group of 5 and were so fortunate and grateful to have Shelly greet us at the door. We were taken to a very large beautiful dressing room that comfortably sat all of us. Shelly assisted us while we all chose dresses for the bride to be. She graciously carried and hung every dress, and there were tons! The selection of dresses is amazing. Shelly helped my daughter try on dress after dress for three hours to be exact. We couldn't have found a better store, better selection or better service. Shelly did every thing to make this day a beautiful memorable experience. And yes........ We all joined in tears, clapping and joyful ness when my daughter said YES to her perfect dress she always dreamed of!!!! We received a additional 20% off because we bought that day. Shirley was kind, helpful and made the transaction quick and simple. Shelly was amazing and made our day even better than I could have ever imagined. We have shopped here for years, starting with daughters prom dresses to bridal party dresses, mother of the bride gown, and wedding gown. Loved this place!! There is a huge selection of wedding dresses and all different prices. One whole wall is covered with discounted dresses. It can be overwhelming so take a few friends with you to help pick out dresses or make an appointment. They don't have a huge bridesmaid dress selection but I still found one. I made an appointment and brought my mother and four bridesmaids with me. Debra was amazing!!! She had great suggestions and was very attentive and friendly. If the dress was too big she would hold it up for me to see how it would fit. I would recommend this place and Debra. They also have a room where you can change and everyone can sit while you try on the dresses. They have an awesome option for the bridesmaids. You put down $30 and can then pay $20 a month to pay off your dress. read more

Not sure how this place is still in business. I don't know if Shirley is the one that helped us or if the lady was an employee but she was extremely rude. She could use a course in customer service. She made my sisters and I feel very uncomfortable. I was told to bring my dress in after alterations were done, a day or two before my wedding to be steamed. I called the day before, was spoke to as if I were an idiot and told that I should have made an appointment (even thought I was told when I purchased the dress that I could just bring it in to be steamed). They were unable to get me in and so my beautiful dress never got the wrinkles removed. Despite the wrinkles my wedding was wonderful. I just wanted to give future brides a heads up. read more

I recently went to Shirley's Bridal Boutique in search of a wedding gown. It was the first place I went to. They had a wide variety of gowns from inenexpensive to more expensive, which I liked at first. However the gowns they have are shop worn and not taken care of. They don't have bags over the gowns to protect them which was a turn off for me. If you are going to charge high prices, atleast take care of your gowns. The lady that helped me was very nice, however I felt like I was on a used car lot. She kept pushing the dress sale. My mother lives 900 miles away and unfortunatly couldn't be apart of the dress process, I wanted to take pictures and send them to my mom but they don't allow pictures. When we were leaving we asked fr information on the gowns but the store clerk said that they take the notes and keep them on file for us. So when my grandmother said she was going to take her own notes, the owner of the store said, " Well doesn't she just think she owns the place". Overall my experience there was not satisfying at all which is sad because the gown I tried on I loved, but they wont be getting my business. read more

Horrible customer service. We scheduled a 2 hour appointment a week in advance and upon our arrival (15 min before the starting time of my appointment) Shirley (the owner) told me I probably wouldn't like any of the dresses I had picked out and then made me, my mother and my elderly grandmother wait almost an hour before bringing us into a dressing room because "we had a walk in." We complained that we had scheduled an appointment and they had no business taking a walk in appointment when they already had a scheduled bride ready and waiting. Their response was to tell us we could do part of our appointment today and then come back at another time to finish. Needless to say we will not be returning and will be taking our business somewhere that actually treats their brides with respect and values both their time and money. read more

My father in-law took my best friend and I here to look for prom dresses. We were 'greeted' by who i assume was Shirley. She didn't say welcome or hello. We told her we were looking for prom dresses. She took us to the other store next to it where the prom dresses are held, not allowing us to look at the brides maids dresses because they weren't 'prom'. (Everyone knows you can easily wear a brides maid dress to a prom.) She asked us what are price range was and wouldn't let us try on dresses that were out of our price range. It was like she didn't want our business or money. She seemed to be angry, bored or maybe upset. As well as using her cell phone to text people while she was 'helping' us. We told her how we've been to most of the other dress shops including Empress in the mall and Davids Bridal. We said how at Empress the clothes are cheaply made, but not crazy expensive. She then categorized both Empress and Davids Bridal as equals when it comes to the quality of their products. Davids Bridal has designer dresses like Vera Wang, where Empress has clothes made outside the US. She said "all the dresses are one of a kind and come from over seas." Every dress at Shirley's was different, so they only had that one dress in that that one size. She claimed that every dress was hand made but looking at the stitching, you can tell a machine did most of the work. The prices were two to three times the prices from Davids Bridal for the same if not worse quality of dresses. She said "no mater where you go, you'll spend $200-$500 for a prom dress." Davids Bridals prom dress selection ranged from $99 to under $300. Everything was way over priced, to the point of it being just down right ridiculous. You could get dresses just as nice for half their price anywhere else. I really don't know how she stays in business with the horrible customer service and overly priced products. I would suggest you to not go there and not spend your money on anything from them because they don't deserve your hard earned cash. Don't be fooled when she says she'll give you 10% off. She says that to everyone. Reading the only good review for this business by Nicole L. saying "She gave me a 10% discount for buying the veil with the dress and that saved me $140". It sounds like if they didn't buy the veil from them with the dress they wouldn't have gotten the 10% off. Getting 10% off something that's more expensive for no reason, isn't a real deal. They say you're getting 10% off because their price tags are already at lease 10% over priced. So you're not getting a deal, she's just stealing your money. I was very disappointed. I can't even begin to describe my experience. I truly wish that there was a 0 stars option. I would never in my life go back there or suggest it to someone looking for a dress. It was a terrible experience and I can't stress that enough. First, they started off telling me that they had a sale going on so if I found a dress it needed to be purchased that day if I wanted it. We then proceeded to wonder mindlessly around the store by ourselfs looking for dresses but it is so crouded that you can't even see all of the dresses. They don't ask you a price range or what styles you are looking for they just make you look around. Then upon wondering aimlessly I over heard two people talking at the front desk about how I was just looking for fun today and I wasn't a serious customer. Well this was my first time trying on dresses lady. Im not just going to try the first one i put on. She then proceeded to tell the sales associate helping me to just hurry through my consultation and she did just that. She yanked dresses on and off of me and rushed us through the process. This post doesn't even come close to explaining how bad it really was. I would never purchase a dress from there even if it was the dress that brought tears to my eyes. AVOID THIS BOUTIQUE. I was dreading wedding dress shopping, and places like Shirley's were exactly the reason why. From my very first minute in her extremely chaotic shop I knew I was in for a rough ride. As I was trying to explain to her the kind of dress I was looking for, she was pointing out a couple of sections I might be interested, and she explicitly said we could ignore the "destination wedding" section--which is exactly the type of dress I had just described to her that I wanted. It was also around this time that she looked at me and said, "So you're, what, a size 10?" I'm a size 4, so thanks for that. When I told her I was a size 4 she said, "Oh dear, David's Bridal dresses run in smaller sizes. We're not like David's Bridal," as if it were a foregone conclusion that I had learned my size from David's Bridal. Again, false. It was only downhill from there. She was pushy, unpleasant, did nothing to make me feel at ease, and after 45-minutes that felt like an eternity even my friends that I had brought along with me were practically begging to leave. Shirley is completely rude and unhelpful! My wedding was 1.5 years out. I am getting married in Wisconsin. Fortunately my mother came out to visit and we had the opportunity to try on dresses together. Our day started out exciting and filled with joy. Shirley took all of that away. I had told her this was my first time trying on wedding dresses and I was not getting married for another year and a half, so I'm just trying to get ideas. Shirley didn't mind and we began trying them on. I ended up falling in love with a dress. Shirley said, "great! I'll write it up and meet you at the counter." I reminded her that I wasn't ready to buy and wanted to think about it. The minute she found out we were not buying that day she told us we were a waste of time and told us to leave! I actually ended up buying that dress six months later, but not at Shirley's. After the service we received I bought it somewhere else...and it was $300 cheaper somewhere else! Shirley is just sweeter than a button when she thinks you are going to buy, but watch out! It is all bull! I found myself trying to defend myself when she insisted on me buying the dress right now! Threatening that I will loose money if I don't buy right now and storming off out of the dressing room taking the dress I liked and leaving me in my underwear when I tried explaining the reason I'm not ready to buy. Shirley had also kicked my friend out when she was newly engaged and would not let her TOUCH any dresses because she was not wearing her engagement ring, it was getting sized at the jeweler. What a horrible place!! They will ruin the joy of buying that prefect dress! Dresses are in horrible conditions and crammed in. When you are trying to find a dress you are walking all over others. I settled for a dress cause they pressure you into a dress. I put it in lay a way called them a week later and tell them that I would forfeit my deposit (not a special order) and they could put the dress out and sell it again they told me no and that I was to pay for the dress in full. The dress never left the store. They told me that they would give me a credit and I could choose another dress, rudely told me that. I told them why would I want to come back into their store if they treated me that way?! They had me in tears! My fiancé called them to tell them that they were ruining the joy of the whole experience and they told him I was a big girl and that I didn't need my daddy calling to take care of my problems. My friends and I dealt with Katie to get her wedding dress and ended up finding the one but I have helped many other friends get their wedding dress at different locations and it's clear that Shirley's selection for bridal gowns is the only thing that keeps her open. Shirley was cordial but Katie was very controlling, arrogant about her years of experience (as if she worked for kleinfeld, NYC ....eyeroll) and knew better than the bride and her close fam and friends. Largest selection you're going to find and lots of pretty dresses but bad customer service. She rushed the bride to make decisions and acted like she was selling a car. Putting tons of pressure on the bride. Overall we laughed about it afterwards I'm but I'm glad the bride had so much support from us because Katie the consultant was not one bit helpful. read more

DON'T go here. without an appt. my daughter & I, the bride to be, stopped in several weeks ago 5/2011 on a Saturday, we went mainly to check out inventory,service was good, ended up trying on 6 dresses or so....however, "we don't allow you to take pictures" we did anyway, couldn't decide so we left. Needed the pictures to help with the decision...who doesn't allow pictures?? The dress was marked down with an offer of an additional 10% off if we bought by 2 p.m. It was a lot of money and the first store we had checked out, we declined to purchase on that day. Today I just called to see if the dress is still in stock and is the price the same? Took the owner ALL of 5 minutes to find it, "yes it's here", verified the price, she asked if I'd like to put it on layaway, I said, "Not yet, just checking"...she was sooo rude, said "You had me look for it and you don't want to buy it?" I told her I wouldn't come back there due to her attitude now at all. It's a long way to drive from Stockton, CA and it's a lot of money. SHAAAAMME ON HER! Yes, this from the owner! Don't go there! I give the store 1 star only due to the stock on hand, however, there's SO much inventory you can barely get around. What happened to good customer service??? read more
