Nostalgia had me stopping by to get kolaches and donuts. I haven't had Shipley do-nuts in about 10 years but I reminded me of my childhood and tasted just the same to me. When I walked in to order, I was greeted by everyone and got the freshest donuts. I drove 20 mins out of my way to grab donuts for my team as they love Shipleys only to get to work and the donuts were hard as a rock literally they were taking one bite and throwing them away. I'm sure the gentleman knew they were hard when he boxed them for me instead just saying hey we don't have any fresh would you still want these or not. They kept saying top golf wiped them out. Tried to stop by and purchase donuts today at 12:12 PM after driving quite a distance, only to find the doors locked despite the sign clearly stating you close at 1:00 PM. I knocked because I could see employees inside, but instead of acknowledging me, they literally ducked behind the counter. Not exactly the smartest way to run a business, especially when customers make a trip out specifically to come support you. If you're closing early, that's understandable, but update the posted hours or communicate it rather than avoiding customers standing at the door. read more

This Shipley donuts shop has become quite overpriced, but it is still one of the better donut shops in the area. To avoid unsold inventory, they make only a limited number of certain items, so if you don't get there early, they will already have run out. Much of the staff does not speak English well, so watch what items they put in your bags & boxes to ensure you get the correct items that you ordered. read more

When this location first opened, I came regularly, they were the fluffiest tastiest donuts in my area. I hadn't been in a while and decided to stop by yesterday and ordered my usual 3 plain glazed donuts. I immediately knew something was off when I looked into the bag and saw 3 hard looking smaller than usual donuts. I took one out to try it hoping it was better than it looked, it was terrible. The donut was extremely dense, dry and not as sweet as I'm used to. I called and spoke with the manager who confirmed the formula had changed, what a disappointment. If anyone from Shipley 's reads this, save the canned response that you'll probably message me, and fix your donuts; y'all are not representing your name well at all with these terrible hunks of dough. read more

Some donuts were pretty good, like the jelly filled and apple fritter. Great apple flavor, nicely iced and not too greasy. But the twists were really tough, a dense and hard dough that I've not had on a donut! No one in our family liked them. Also, there is a limited variety- they do not offer old fashioned among other classics. I will say that the drive thru window was convenient and the staff was friendly and helpful. At the end of the day this is Texas and donuts are everywhere! I was excited to try this donut shop, but this will be my first and last visit. read more

So sad to right a poor review of a Texas staple like Shipleys. The quality at this Shipleys is totally sub par and very inconsistent. Brough home a dozen of the smallest donuts I've ever purchased from any donut store, they were also very oily and left a very bad after taste. The kolaches were also dry and "crunchy". Under soft opening and let me say the associates are SO nice!! Even walking in the young lady waited (we weren't close) holding the door for us. All 3 were so sweet as we stared at the plethora of donuts unable to stop from saying "one of everything " vs selecting donuts. They were very patient and explained donuts we asked about. Of course we tore into our decisions with haste and they were so good!! And we came late... we came near noon when youd think they wouldnt be as fresh and that was a HARD NO... these were fresh as 6am yall!! Had the bulls eye which honestly tasted liked a hot chocolate with the marshmallow!! The apple fritter was great with a nice cinnamon flavor.... these are great donuts... well made donuts. I was excited when the location opened. It was great the first couple of times. However management and especially the staff has become extremely poor. Workers seem more interested in taking with friends and phones. Management openly admitted he had no idea what was happening. Too many other options. Master and ernest offer great customer service and better product. RE: I appreciate your response. However, the explanation does not make sense when the rear passengers are outside the car window literally in the takeout window. My only compliant was that I tried to call multiple times to order a couple catering coffees, which apparently cannot be ordered via the website, and nobody will answer the phone so I had to pick some up next door from the Dunkin which is really run poorly. read more

Donuts were old and frosting was stale. The donuts had so much frosting and the size of the actual donut was small. I remember going to Shipleys to get the best donuts. Went to try out the new location in The Colony. The staff was very polite even with our donut ordering indecision as i fought my inclination to yell one of everything!! One employee even waited holding the door open for us as we were coming to in! They answered questions on everything and never tried to rush us while we were picking our options. We went with the Cream Cheese, cherry and Raspberry filled donuts. Also tried the choco filler devils food and a marshmallow filler choco glazed and an Apple Fritter. All of the donuts were fresh tasting and delicious. In particular the apple fritter was fantastic. It was fluffy and not greasy or hard and flat or overcooked as many can be. We were so happy to see Shipley donuts open on a Thursday during the snow storm in Dallas. They took our order and were offering delivery. We had a stressful last few days with power cuts and water issues and really craved for some donuts and were pleasantly surprised to see this donut shop open. Shipleys is a little bit of a drive for us but it was our favorite so we decided to make the drive. First, there was a missing item. I was surprised to see how much smaller and dry the donut holes and donuts were. I came on yelp to see if other people felt the same and I see it's under new ownership. It so obvious. Not sure if Shipley is intimidated by the competition (Dunkin and Scooters coffee are immediately near them) or not but they are not living up to their name. They used to make the best donuts. Spent $5.25 on 2 glazed donut (that were harder than normal on the outside), blueberry donut, and a twist that looked like a pretzel stick covered with glaze on it. Shipley's really is the greatest name in donuts. They are my ultimate comfort food. When I was a child, going to Shipley's was a reward. As a teenager, we went over there after 6 am practice. When the one opened in The Colony, I was thrilled. (I pass 7 other donut shops to get there) The staff is super friendly. No matter what time of day, the donuts are always fresh.
