As a native houstonian, shipleys is the legendary place to get donuts. You HAVE to try the hot glazed donuts in the morning. Pro tip: ask for the hot glazed donuts in the back and they'll get you hot, fresh donuts! Other than those, the chocolate iced and the cake donuts are favorites too. Service was really fast and kind too. Highly recommend when visiting Houston. Fair warning as i look at other reviews that shipleys is not a fancy place inside. Its simple, small, cheap and fast. As a Houstonian, I already think that Shipley's is the best donut spot in the country. But bias aside, this place really is pretty great. It's one of the few locations that has a drive-thru. Also, it has outdoor seating in the patio area. I've never seen a Shipley's with that before. The donuts and kolaches are always warm and delicious. The service is super fast, and I've never left disappointed. The downside is that the kolaches seem to be more expensive here than at other locations. Additionally, Shipley's doesn't offer a lot of other breakfast food that smaller mom and pop shops provide. I wish they'd shake up their menu a little bit. read more

I grew up eating these donuts. My favorite is the basic glazed donut. The glaze is nice and thin and the donut is light and airy. Once you move away, you don't realize how good you've had it. Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts got nothing on these. You gotta love the kolaches as well. read more

Most Shipley locations are dependable with good products. This one is no exception. The donuts are fresh and a delicious way to get some sugar fueled energy into your system. This location, like some others, offers a drive through. It's convenient but what would make for even better convenience is if they had a menu board located by the drive through area. I don't know of any Shipley drive through with an outside menu so maybe they don't do that. I know many in the Houston area probably know the Shipley menu by heart but others may want to peruse the choices offered before making a decision. They will give you a menu at the window but that can take time and hold up the line. Mornings are busiest here and the morning time sourballs in line behind you can get impatient. It's understandable and an outside menu would be a big benefit. Later times throughout the day are no problem. The service is prompt and fast and the employees don't rush you. The line does move rather quickly and there is seating inside if you prefer. The only problem I've ever encountered here is that they are often out of coconut donuts in the cake type. It's a minor problem and they have other offerings but when you want a coconut cake type, you want it. The earlier you come to any Shipley, the fresher and better. Shipley is trusted around Houston for donuts and this location lives up to it. However, they should make more coconut cake type donuts here. read more

I came here this morning got a kolache, after like a hour or two of eating my stomach starts hurting so bad and just burping the sausage. I go home from work. I get home pain is bad I vomit everything which was just the kolache I ate all day.. I have been here several times to get donuts for an event because it's close to home.... but it's obvious from the taste that the fry grease is NOT being changed routinely. Fresh, tasty donuts. Service is good: quick, polite, and inexpensive. I would recommend this over any donut place in town. Drive through makes the experience so much more convenient.
