....... CRITIC'S REVIEW ...... Best glazed donuts in Dallas!!! Unfortunately, 3 other items fell short. Here is what I had. Glazed: Awesome!! Probably the best in Dallas. Definitely the lightest (like air) and you can't eat just one! Very nice overall flavor and good icing. Reminds me of Lonestar Donuts from the 70's... but better. Definitely get these! Score: 10 out of 10 Cinnamon Roll: Good donut base and icing, needs double the cinnamon. Barely detectable. Score: 4 out of 10 Blueberry Cake: Super sweet - overpowering first bite. Don't get me wrong, I love sweets but this is over the top. Could only eat one bite. It's not the icing, is the high amount of sugar in the patter. Not getting that again. Score: 0 out of 10 Apple Fritter: A little boring. Not much cinnamon, no apple flavor or chunks, and a very strong sugar level in the batter. Score: 3 out of 10 Atmosphere: Very clean and super good staff. They are friendly and accommodating. Donut display is beautiful. Overall Score: I'm split on this... it's a 10 out of 10 on the glazed, 3 out of 10 on the rest.

They have a little fish tank which is cool for the kids to look at . And always fresh of course and they are open a little bit later than most done at stores.

Really? You don't want to give me my 10 % off Yelp check-in? Not far from where I raised three daughters. There was a Shipley donut close and I spent a fortune on delicious donuts served up hot by conscientious caring owners. That one closed,I moved away and forgot about Shipley until I saw this one had opened. Thinking it may be the same owners that just moved and built a new location I bookmarked it. Finally, after a couple of years, I made it by this morning. It has a drive-through but I wanted to go inside in case I knew the owners. Upon checking in on Yelp I noticed a 10% off discount! Great, I thought. So, perusing the shelves of lemon, custard, cream, strawberry, glazed I was getting excited about eating a donut(or two). Just to be clear, I rarely eat donuts anymore and made a special effort to get a couple here, as a 6-month treat. So when my experience started going south I was concerned. The first sign of trouble was the clerk said they didn't accept the 10% Yelp check-in discount. So I asked to speak with the manager. She went in the back and came out with a woman who ends up being the owner. I showed her my phone with the coupon and she said," that's not us, we don't take those"! I looked at her and ask you don't take these? She again said that's not us. So I flipped to the map on the Yelp business and ask her again, "this is not You"? We glanced at it, waved her hand as to discount it, and said give it to him, and walked away. There was no oh we would be glad to or thank you for coming in, nothing. I was insulted and would never go back. I noticed they get good reviews but I didn't think their donuts were anything above average. I will continue to patronize my favorite shop Maxs just down the road. In a time when small businesses are struggling, you would think they would practice better business building skills and customer service. the young clerk helping me was very nice and just unempowered. I mean my discount ended up being 27 cents!!! but, what kind of signal did the Owner Jenifer send to the young lady helping me?

I had a glaze & 2 sprinkled donuts The bread was soft, there wasn't a ton of cake/bread, and taste was phenomenal Sometimes you get too much bread or the sweetness of the donut is a bit off but these donuts were very good

DRIVE-Thru adds 1 star! Still need to work on frying technique, a lil' bit greasy. LOCATION is west side of 75 Central Expressway, south of Park Ave, Plano TX Arrive via southbound service road, or Chisholm Place street. PARKING in front, back, or side. RESTROOMS: 2, Locking, male & female. LOBBY has granite counter along front window, tall stool seats. Also 4 tables for two, along narrow hall to the restrooms. Very Clean, Nicely Organized, Napkins dispensers! big plus Staff: Pleasant, Helpful, Engaging KOLACHES: in a tall rolling case near drive-thru window, good variety DONUTS: Good variety Baked goods: limited COFFEE: Very nice travel cups! Medium strength blend, low acidity. My order: Coffee to go, twist donut with chocolate icing. Butterfly donut: sugar & cinnamon ( pulls apart in sections ). Note on this visit: Donuts a bit soaked with frying oil. My last visits here were better. Gonna say 4.5, but must give 5 when I saw staff walk outside to curbside deliver a bag of donuts to customer. Great service.

Jelly, glazed and cake donuts. Plus a side of ham cheese Kolaches!

I see a problem here, this location is way too close and convenient. I see many donuts in my future! Ordered thru Yelp, which was perfect. Order here and pick up there via the drive thru.

For those of us who must go back to work......here is the fuel you need to get it started!!! FYI...... It's the owner's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY !! (4give me if I spelled you name wrong)

I heard SO much about this place as soon as I moved to Dallas. I was told it was better than Krispy Kreme, so I had to come give it a try! I stopped by on an early morning on my way to work. I got a chocolate glazed and chocolate+ coconut donut (my go to flavors). They were smaller than I expected, but so yummy!! They actually different than Krispy Kreme and Dunkin. They are much lighter and fluffy, if that makes sense. You can literally eat a dozen donuts and not even realize it lol Will definitely come back and have some more!

This family owned Shipley Do-Nuts is a sweet spot to get donuts in Plano right off of 75. After church Sunday morning, we decided to get some donuts. While ordering, one of the workers gave us each a fresh warm donut for free. It was such a kind gesture and so yummy! Though we loved the service and donuts, I was not a fan of the kolaches. I thought if had to much bread. But I will definitely come back for donuts.

Ask the Community - Shipley Do-Nuts

Does this business offer vegan or dairy-free donuts?

    Unfortunately, not at the moment.

    Do they serve donut holes?

Yes. I get a bag of glazed ones all the time for $1.36. They are absolutely delicious

And that salsa verde on top? So good. Both the chilaquiles and the blueberry Earl Grey scone were my favorites. The scone was especially nice and moist with a unique flavor combo. I also liked the churro cruffin, and the birria brisket croque madame was delish and satisfying. Two of us ordered the Sweet Potato Latte and one got the Turkish latte, all half sweet (we generally prefer less sweetness than most), and all three of us really liked ours. Service was also great -- even though it was packed, our server was attentive and friendly. Great spot if you want something a little different for brunch or a bakery stop. Definitely worth checking out.

The waiting area was really nice and spacious. We got to try the Love Potion Latte (limited time), the Croissant Monkey Bread ($4.75), and the Birria Brisket Croque Madame ($19). The Love Potion Latte was okay, it's made of chocolate mocha, espresso, milk, and dried strawberry chunks. The Croissant Monkey Bread was delicious. The dough pulled apart so well and the cinnamon sugar on top added a nice touch to it. They toasted your bread too so it was warm and moist. The Birria Brisket Croque Madame was the best! It is a huge portion and we cut it in halves already, but it filled us up! The sourdough was still crispy, well-toasted, and it absorbed the juices from the birria so well. We went for a light breakfast but came out so full and stuffed. The prices are a bit expensive but it was reasonable for the quality and portion size. They are sooo packed though with customers coming in and out at all time. I would definitely make reservations next time!

Located among the shops and bars of historic downtown sits 1418 Coffee, a cute and genuinely great little shop that fits the area perfectly. Inside, the shop is fairly narrow but offers a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I arrived with a friend a little before 11 am on a Sunday, and it was absolutely packed. A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. They had been keeping them warm in a heater throughout the morning, which definitely helped. I have stopped by 1418 Coffee a few times when visiting Dallas, and I plan to keep returning. They consistently do a great job and fit right into the charm of downtown Plano. RIYL: A warm haven in a beautiful downtown.

The typical bakeries in this area (Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen etc) are often chains, and focus on soft breads such as donuts and cakes, with the token boring croissant, and the Asian bakeries (also chains) offer a completely different style of breads, so to finally come across a place with innovative crisp laminated pastries is a treat!
