Super disappointed in the way we were treated. Young guy behind the counter was incredibly rude. Im completely unsure why, but he was visibly perturbed by me and my 3 year old's presence. Asking for a kolache was met with 'we don't have that. We DONT have that' I asked if there were any kolaches left, he said 'jalapeno'. I told him that would be fine, and I ended up getting something completely different. No big deal. When I was done ordering, he asked cash or card. When I said cash, he stuck his hand out for it. I asked what my total was, and he hatefully pointed at the screen and said 'it's on there.' After he gave me my change he walked away. I asked for a receipt and he motioned to the register, like I should reach across the counter and rip it off myself. I can do that, but I don't think management would appreciate a customer reaching across and towards a register. He then came back and gave it to me, and left my food behind a sign on the counter. I'm totally unsure why we were met with such hatefulness. The whole encounter was weird and made me super uncomfortable, especially being with my child. Once I got my receipt, I asked if there was something wrong. He said 'why would there be' I told him he seemed upset and a little rude. Motioning to the screen, not wanting to hand me the receipt, each thing I asked for seemed to ruin his day more, etc When I left he said 'You have a great day, DRIVE SAFE' in an awfully mocking tone. This was in front of my child, another customer, and a female employee at the counter. What a shame as my kids have loved going in there. Well we are moving back to TX and I just had to stop and get the greatest Kolaches. I was very dissatisfied today when I left the drive through parked in a spot and began to eat what I ordered. First thing I noticed is how hard they were. I'm like are you kidding me! So hard I had to pull off more than half the loaf... huge, dry and far from what I remembered. I ordered Sausage Cheese Jalapeño and did not even get Jalapeño. Okay remembered years ago that they would put a piece of Jalapeño on top before cooking so the employee and customer would know. Mmmmm, donuts. If Homer Simpson himself had to choose a place to buy donuts, he'd probably go to a Shipley's. Their donuts are really different from others you've probably tasted, their donuts are more dense and aren't the light, fluffy, empty donuts you might get at lesser donut shops. These are not "I'll eat half a dozen" these are "I'll have one, maybe two" donuts. Also, the glaze on them isn't over sweet, it's more of an accent and works with the flavor of the batter instead of smothering it. Great staff and open 24 hours with a drive-thru means that you can get your donut on anytime you feel like it. If you haven't tried them yet, please do, you won't regret it! read more

Terrible service, stopped for a fun middle of the night snack with my daughter and the lady said they were out of everything except maple cherry and chocolate but the shelves had plenty. I had to repeat to her over a dozen times what I wanted because she just wasn't all there, I feel terrible writing this but I got so frustrated she got almost every donut wrong and I drove off with Junk I didn't want half of them obviously old and stale. One of the hidden gems of little McAllen Texas, is this tiny doughnut shop that opened as the town was growing into a city. Located in the heart of McAllen on N 10th street, the shop still hasn't lost its retro style or it's luster. I went to take pictures at around 3 AM in the morning, the shop was completely empty except for a lone cook who was making the dough for tomorrows batch of doughnuts. Just the smell inside that shop was enough to get you salivating for a whole box of doughnuts. The view of the empty street, the bright florescent lights of the shop and the warmth radiating from the oven filling the entire shop instills a feeling of nostalgia that can make anybody feel at home in this little city. How is there only one review for this gem? I have been known to walk two miles for a donut. I love them. Living in New York, I don't get tons of fresh donuts. When I drove by this stand alone shop, I knew I had to stop. The parking lot was full on a rainy day. Cars were wrapped around the drive-thru. I walked into the restaurant to see what was up: controlled mayhem. Old people, young people, Spanish speakers, English speakers, couples, moms, daughters, singles, rockers, and country folk were all lined up waiting. The people behind the counter moved at a fast pace. I was getting anxious just looking at them stuff those boxes. I got a maple donut, which is my favorite flavor. It melted in my mouth. Customer service is excellent at this location every time I go someone is always there to meet me with a smile at the counter. Hey older gentleman who seems to either be the manager or the owner is always there offering the best possible customer service by always attending to all his customers simply and example of how to run a business.
