As I was running errands and found myself almost driving past Shipley's Donuts, so I drove in. Since I didn't have any breakfast I thought I would get me some coffee and donuts. I was welcomed in by Ms. Laci, who was as sweet as the donuts and a really nice smile. She helped with my selections of donuts which I settled for an apple fritter and chocolate cream filled donut and cup of coffee. The coffee was brewed fresh and had a good taste, and the apple fritter and chocolate cream donut was very delicious. Donuts are consistently good, and staff is usually pleasant. I've had a dozen positive experiences at this shop, even when they were busy. That's why I drove past two other donut shops to come to this Industrial location. But... Lacey could use some retraining on basic customer service and manners. My husband arrived today Jan 17th around 5:05 AM today, he ordered a dozen of glazed doughnuts , they were not fresh they were old, my husband was told that he needed to pull forward and they would be ready in about 2 minutes. Why would you have to wait for day old doughnuts , there were no sugar, the doughnuts were put in the microwave and all the sugar were melted off.. my husband called and spoke with someone by the name of Renee, that was not receptive to the constructive feedback, she became defensive. I like Shipleys donuts, they are pretty good and reasonably priced. I love getting coupons so I can use it there. My cons include the uncoated blueberry cake donut, which I got today. I'll never get an uncoated glazed cake donut again, so dry and so gross. On another note, why does the drive-thru not have a menu??? It frustrates me because I don't know what donuts they have inside. In doing so, I just order glaze, choco or sausage rolls just because I know they have them. This place is absolutely ridiculous. They have a big sign on the door stating they take all coupons, in fact it is on the FRONT door, however I have taken various coupons in an attempt to follow the rules and play their nonsense rules, I have been told they will not accept the coupon I had. Just take the dang sign down, this is such bad business! Here's what I have used that I was told they could not accept. -printed Valpack (from the Valpack website), coupon Specifically for Shipleys. I was told no printed ones... -Valpack coupons(not printed) specifically stating Shipleys- I was told they do not accept this, no reason given. -krispy kreme coupon from the newspaper- I was told they do not accept this competitive coupon but would accept Dunkin' Donuts-Rembrandt, on the front door if clearly states they accept ALL computers coupons) -Newspaper coupon accessed through cell phone. I was not given a reason. -Dunken Donuts- I was told they do not accept this. I told the staff that I had been told no to KK but that they would honor DK. I was still denied without any regard as to why their policy changes every single time. -and my last attempt- Groupon specifically for Shipleys As you can see I have attempted to follow all their rules. Today just beyond frustrated me. It's my sons bday and he wanted Donuts for breakfast. I bought a Groupon that was for Shipleys, I was excited because that shows they have already approved the coupon. I read the exclusions and saw it did not say anything about this Bedford location not participating. The lady at the counter brought my phone to the back for a manager to help her with it. The manager came up and told me they do not accept the Groupon ones. I looked at my phone and saw they had clicked "Redeem" so now I'm just out that money I paid to buy the coupon on the first place. If your unfamiliar with Groupon, once a voucher has been "Redeemed" it is no longer valid. On Groupon you pre-pay fit these things so with the manager doing this he cost me money. My husband was incredibly frustrated and when he asked why they won't accept it the manager said he can't take Groupons but can take all other coupons. As you can imagine we realize they are playing games and my husband insisted they remove or cover up their sign stating they accept all coupons including competitors coupons. The manager said he would show us all the coupons in the back to prove they accept coupons. I tried to ask for clarification stating all the hoops I have jumped through by playing their game but there was a bit of back and forth as my husband was so frustrated and rightfully so, He feels the staff is just lying and wanted answers as to why they keep changing the rules. I attempted to have the manager explain to me exactly the policy and why they keep changing the rules but ultimately we left with no resolution, and no explanation. I was particularly frustrated that the manager wouldn't even do a small manager override fir the Groupon this one time since he had already redeemed he voucher. I like the donuts the franchise makes but this store is so beyond ridiculous it's not worth going to. I am so dissatisfied and disappointed in this location. I jumped through every single nonsense game they played. Corporate needs to get involved here and train the people because it's makes them look corrupt. Staff training needs to be trained. Management needs to be trained and know what their customers are going through. Managers also need to not redeem coupons that customers paid for especially if they have no intention on accepting in the first place. This store is NONSENSE currently and needs to get better. I've added a picture of the sign we would like fixed in the pictures. If it were accurate it would say at the bottom "we do not accept any coupons, not even our own, not from a phone, not printed, not a mail flyer, not a company wide coupon, and basically any other way you could think of". I frequently visit this location. I went this morning to get a couple of donuts on my way to work. There were 2 cars in the drive thru, so I went inside since NO ONE was inside except employees. I waited several minutes to place my order but not one of the 4 people working acknowledged I was there. Hmmm...Perhaps my invisibility cloak turned on? Need to investigate why it's on the fritz again. I stepped outside but the call for donuts was strong. So I went back inside and was still ignored. When I finally asked if I could get some service, there was some discussion amongst the employees about why I was not being helped. Instead of someone helping me, I was asked to wait a few MORE minutes. Really?!?!? I stormed out in a rage since my quest for donuts was not going to be fulfilled. This is one of my favorite doughnut places and has such a convenient location. Shipley donuts offers amazing coupon deals and even accepts competitor coupons. I ordered a chocolate filled doughnut and a cherry filled doughnut. The doughnuts felt a little small to me, but they were soft and plush with a melt in your mouth kind of quality. Major props to shiplys for having an awesome product that is closest I've had to the hole in the wall places, but with a drive thru and will take a debit/credit card for orders under $3.00. Which I heard from someone on the radio that is actually something places can't do, I understand why but still ... but I digress. Staff is usually friendly yet my personal issue is that they expect you to know what you want but offer no drive thru screen or poster board to look at before placing your order, as well they don't have a portable menu to let you look at. I asked and they said they just have the big menu that you would need to walk into see. Plus this is the Shipley's on the way to my daughters school, we really like the one near our home but its just in the opposite way than the path that we need to take to her school. The issues I have are that not everyone calls things the same things & I have heard someone be told they didn't have something that they did have because Shipleys has the other name for it. As well I generally like to know what my options are and what things cost before ordering something. That way I'm not wasting drive thru time, and honestly the one or two times I have had to ask questions I could tell I was "annoying" because I didn't automatically know something, and was expected to go in. Sadly for Shirpleys I come to you for the drive thru aspect, if I wanted to unload my 8 year old & 6 months old I would go to 2 or 3 hole in the walls with drinks with cheaper prices. read more

First, the positive: The donuts are consistently good, and my employees often request breakfast from Shipley's . . . which is why I'll detour here a few times a month. I have not been disappointed with the donuts or kolaches. The reason for the 2-star rating is that a significant portion of the staff are not very friendly. The man I believe is their front-counter manager, Randy, is rather rude and abrupt at times. Unfortunately, this seems to trickle over into several of the front-line employees that handle order-taking. I'm fascinated that even a simple "thank you" is a rare commodity at a store where I give $100+ of business per month? I've tried to keep an open mind about the early hours, number of customers, etc., but after another disappointing counter experience this morning, I elected to: 1) post a review expressing my displeasure with the courtesy of the Bedford team, and 2) take my business elsewhere despite the fact my employees really do like the taste and variety offered at Shipley's. read more

I looooove me some Shipley donuts and this is a great location. These are some of the best donuts in the area, and they truly have one of the best selections of donuts around. What's extra awesome about this location is their hours -- they're open everyday from 5AM until 6PM. Afternoon donut craving? NO problem! :) And they have a drive-thru which makes things just that much easier - and best of all, it moves quick. When you buy 5 donuts here, you get the sixth one free - score! :) Who doesn't love a free donut? I know this girl does. I love their white iced donuts best and their chocolate cake donuts are also delicious. Cinnamon twists are yummy goodness, too.
