I've been a resident of Brookfield for over 20 years, and my husband and I were loyal customers of ShipShape Cleaners for many of them. Unfortunately, things changed dramatically after the store came under new ownership, and we no longer patronize the establishment due to the disappointing customer service we've experienced. In January, I brought a pair of white linen pants to their second location--Ying Wah Laundry at 411 Main Street in Danbury, CT--to be laundered. To my surprise, they were sent to ShipShape in Brookfield for dry cleaning. I didn't need them until May, since white linen isn't exactly winter attire in the Northeast. But when I took the pants out to wear in May, I discovered the RL gold buckle was missing. I returned to the Main Street location and was informed that the pants had indeed been sent to Brookfield. I raised concerns about both the missing buckle and the poor quality of the cleaning. In June, I visited the store twice and was told the owner would contact me--but she never did. July arrived with no calls, no updates. I returned yet again and asked to speak with the owner, Arpi. I expressed my frustration, and she promised to look into it. Once again, she assured me she'd call me back, and once again, I heard nothing. On July 14, a staff member finally called, telling me to pick up the pants--but she didn't clarify whether they'd be in Danbury or Brookfield. Assuming they'd be at the Brookfield location, I stopped by, only to find they weren't there. I'll now have to make yet another trip to Danbury to retrieve them. To make matters worse, I've received voicemails from Arpi that are harassing in tone. She insists I wore the pants; despite the poor job her store did. She outright refuses to replace the buckle or accommodate my request. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior. To anyone considering using this cleaner: beware. What was once a dependable business has turned into a nightmare. Sadly, while Arpi may be chasing the American Dream, what she's offering the community is anything but. read more

They do good work. With an apparent management/owner shift, the customer service is lacking big time. They now nickel and dime for every little thing I.e. plastic bags over four shirts, 5 cents per bag (on a $91 cleaning job. Promotions for new customers but loyal regular customers pay full price. Snippy uncaring person at the register. Won't be takin clothes there after 6 years and thousands of dollars. I was treated like I was irrelevant and I have a choice to spend where customers are appreciated. Nuff said. read more

When the Bagley's were the owners we loved Ship Shape. So sorry they sold the business. I recently dropped off my bedroom curtains to be dry cleaned. My husband picked them up so I didn't look at them until it came time to hang them. They had been WASHED and they shrank 5 inches. I'm never going back read more

Since moving here a few years ago I tried many different dry cleaners. I stopped looking after trying Ship Shape. Not only have I enjoyed fresh smelling clothes, but I have yet to experience a broken button, creases improperly ironed, annoying cloth tags with my name ironed into my shirts ( don't make me wear an inventory control strategy, please) , or "shoulder points " on my tops as a result of improper hanging practices. Hangers at Ship Shape are either reinforced to keep the weight of heavier clothes from making permanent distortions or wrapped to prevent similar marks in more delicate clothing. After doing business for many years up to a few years ago, I returned to the area recently and once again went to Ship Shape Cleaners in Brookfield. My comforter/duvet cleaning...a yearly task... was to cost $99...twice that of all local cleaners called for price comparison. My Zegna jacket, I'm embarrassed to say the original cost, would NOT be insured if anything should happen while in the Cleaners' care...according to the person in charge that day. I looked more carefully at all the wonderful reviews for Ship Shape, only to find that those "reviews" were actually years old, before I had left the area. When I raised these issues with the owner, someone I had known for years... she laughed and invited me to remove all my property from her store. I find reviews helpful only if current, and to be honest, dispassionate. Dry Cleaners are notoriously sketchy concerns with endless stories of property loss with little recourse...particularly when dealing with owners who are too "tired" and have lost interest in continuing their once high standards. May I suggest One Stop on Padanaram Rd. They charged $48 for the same duvet/comforter. Honestly though, I recommend purely on the basis of price. Oh...and without the drama. read more

I told the store person at the cash register and she replied "Nobody said anything (meaning her store people)." This store person did not bother to look for the clasp.
