Rude, Pushy, Bitch of a waitress ! (Especially with interaction machine telling the table that somebody needs to pull out a card before it times out!!!) Food was Slow but understandable considering the small Kitchen. Limited menu, but tasty - although clubhouse was 2 slices of toast with chicken not Turkey. Tiny darkish atmosphere. Consistently excellent food and great customer service. Such a great venue for a night out with musicians playing in a cozy setting. Can't beat the talent the owner brings to the pub and really reasonable prices for the event tickets. read more

We just stopped in for a beer. They have 5 beers on tap. We watched a little Canadian football on their one large TV. No problems, so I'll give the Ship & Plough four stars. read more

Beers good, slow food but tasty; reason: small kitchen. Server knew her beer, good thing cuz all the hipsters have an opinion! City prices but Gimli is mostly city folk in summer. Reminds me of a suburb pub in Calgary or Vancouver. read more

I hope this isn't overly harsh, but they shouldn't claim to be a "gastropub" if they have only three beers on tap, two of which are Stella and Guinness, which leaves only one craft beer. The food we had was decent FWIW, and was decently packed with locals and/or tourists who seemed to enjoy it. read more

Took 15 minutes to get menus after walking in. Waitress must have been new (I hope) because it took her two tries to get back to us with the special hot dog of the week. She still couldn't remember what was on it after the second try - "BBQ, bacon, and a few other things I can't remember." Didn't even attempt a third time to tell me what the other "few things" on the dog were. Only checked on us once before we had to ask the other waiter for the check. Not like it was packed so she didn't have an excuse. Poutine gravy was extremely salty and the curds were so cold they chilled the soggy fries. Special BBQ hot dog was okay but it seemed to be trying too hard by putting in all the flavors. Chicken sandwich was okay. Dark lighting. Pricing was high all around. Won't be back here. read more

Headed out to Gimli for a night out and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The menu might be small, but everything on it was great. We ordered one of each of the appetizers (there are only five!) and all were delicious. We particularly liked the Poutine Ragu - tasty fries with cheese curds and gravy so good you should order bread or extra fries to sop it all up. The Honey Hot Meatballs were great, and the fish tacos were also notable. The carrot cake, warmed in the oven with caramel sauce on top, was a delicious end to the meal. Beer by the pint was good and cold, with a nicely poured Guinness and local beer available as well. Service was attentive but not invasive. Highly recommended! read more

The pub has a nice dark atmosphere and the food was all great. I had the sweat potato poutine and the fish and chips. Nice selection of local and imported beer. I had a Shipwreck and a Guiness. This other review is positive they just forgot to add the stars. read more

I am from the Missouri in the United States of America and I came up to Gimli, Manitoba and we tried out all of the bars in the town and The Ship and Plough was definitely the best bar in town with great food and great beer and mixed drinks the bartenders are very nice and if you go there they accept you right off the bat and if you put your self forward you get to know them very well so I am giving them a 5 star review because it is definitely the best atmospheric environment I have ever been to. There are also a lot of people there that you can meet if you just put yourself in the position to meet other (which is very easy here) then you can meet very many different people from all of the parts of Canada. All because there are nights where there is live entertainment, karaoke, comedy night. I have also met the owner of the bar who is there a lot of the time I'm sure that when he can be. All in all The Ship & Plough is the place to be all of the time if you are into good atmosphere, great food, and good people to meet every night. read more
