    Broken drinking glass

Cross country move (MI to AZ) Had many things... furniture, dishes,, etc, damaged or broken/shattered when they arrived - and I haven't finished unpacking. I had two heavy 7/16" thick specialty glass shelves, that THEY wrapped, when we unwrapped the cardboard & blankets - two of the glass shelves were broken on one of the corners! I watched them unload my furniture and boxes from the back of a semi truck with no ramp or lift gate... some things were dropped on the pavement, they transported my upright Yamaha Piano on its SIDE (not on a piano dolly) wrapped up in blanket & cardboard - that's not the way to move a piano!! When unloading my Blackstone grill, it was dropped. I have a Thomasville oak chest of drawers (WAS in excellent condition)- the top & bottom of the chest are separated and will require a furniture repairman! Two of the claw feet on my queen bed footboard were severely damaged. Many of the edges of my furniture were scuffed up I could go on. 3 of the workers that were hired to help unload the truck - didn't know what they were doing in handling my furniture and boxes and crates. They stacked boxes, that were labeled well, in the garage, many were upside down, heavy boxes on top of smaller boxes. Those 3 guys left well better the job was done. It was unbelievably sloppy work!!! The driver and one other were very good but my overall experience was a nightmare! I worked with a broker, PanTransit Van Lines, who contracted with Ship 4 U. I did my best to give them an accurate account/inventory of what we were moving (including 170 boxes and 50+ crates) - even updated the inventory as soon as 3 days before the move (no video walk through was ever done) and I was given a revised quote of almost $20,000. When the packers from Ship 4 U came on May 9, I had my quote sheet from Pan Transit Van Lines with me when the guy sat down to have me sign the papers before they would load - he basically said to put those papers away because he' would be the one with the correct amount. The new amount due basically doubled to nearly $39,000!! And when he gave me that price, he said "that doesn't include a tip" So NO I would never recommend them!!

Family member was scammed by the company. Do not recommend for lack of professional movers and inaccurate price description.

I later called to confirm the work and schedule a date, and they put me on the calendar for two Mondays in a row to hold my place. However, they never confirmed the details of the job or sent a contract. The Friday before the appointment, I called to ask whether we should reschedule since nothing had been finalized. They told me no and said we would sort everything out on Monday when they arrived. On Monday, the handyman came, took measurements, and went to the store to purchase materials. When he returned, he handed me a tablet to sign. The price shown was more than three times the amount previously texted to me. I explained that this number had never been discussed and that the prior messages included a dollar amount followed by the word "total," so I reasonably believed that was the total project cost. Instead of acknowledging the confusion, the owner said I should have known the original quote only covered materials and that labor would be billed separately at an hourly rate. They also said they couldn't return the materials and that I was causing them to lose an entire day of labor. The handman later told me that they actually could return the materials. The owner then offered to waive the material cost if I paid only the labor rate. Even that was still double the quoted amount, but I felt stressed and pressured and really wanted the project completed, so I reluctantly agreed. I said I might only do a day abd a half of labor and finish the painting myself to save money. They charged $150 per hour for labor for a very basic radiator cover project. After researching afterward, I realized hiring a professional carpenter would have actually been cheaper, yet I was provided with a handyman. The handman also spent 2.5 hours at the home depot buying materials and that counted as time worked so I paid $375 for the home depot visit despite it being under 10 minutes from our house and the materials being basic. It should have taken 45 minutes max. Unfortunately, the work itself was also poorly executed. One radiator cover was specifically supposed to function as a seating bench. I showed the handyman exactly how far out I wanted it to extend, and he initially cut it correctly. Later, however, he cut significantly into it to push it farther into the window area, making it too short to function as a bench. This completely defeated the purpose of the project and reflected poor planning on his part. Additionally, we verbally agreed that the radiator grille would be centered. Instead, the hole was cut too far to the right. The handyman acted like correcting it would be a major inconvenience and implied I would need to continue paying the hourly rate for the correction. At this point, we have already spent significantly more than the original quoted amount and still do not have a completed project. The bench cannot function as a bench because it is too short, the hole for the grille placement looks uneven, and we are now left sanding, painting, and installing the grilles ourselves. The entire reason we hired a company was to avoid spending our own time doing this wok/the reason we wanted custom was so one could function as a seating bench and it is too short for that. To make matters worse, the handyman openly complained about the company to me during the project. He stated that it is their standard business practice to surprise customers with pricing at the last minute and claimed the owners frequently agree to projects that are "impossible to deliver on." He also said the hourly rate they charge is unreasonable for the level of service provided and claimed they get away with it because "people in Montclair are willing to pay." He even implied that some of their online reviews may not be genuine. Despite the owner promising they would follow up with me after the 2nd day of work, no one reached out.

DAS Furniture Assembly & Installation - Custom Shelving by DAS

White-Glove Service from Start to Finish!…read more We had an excellent experience with DAS Furniture Assembly & Installation, and I can't recommend them highly enough. They built custom shelving for a built-in storage closet used to support heavy glassware and china for events and hosting. From the very beginning, Dean, the owner, stood out immediately. While several handyman companies responded to my inquiry, Dean was the only one who offered a complimentary site visit so his team could fully understand the scope of the project and take precise measurements of the existing shelving. That alone gave me confidence that DAS would take our project seriously. Dean was extremely responsive and communicative every step of the way. After the site visit, the quote we received felt thoughtful, fair, and clearly tailored to our needs, not a generic estimate. As the workplace coordinator, I truly appreciated how easy it was to coordinate details like insurance, loading dock access, and a very specific installation timeline. DAS worked seamlessly with our schedule and completed the entire project within a week, at a time that minimized disruption to the office. The quote, invoice, and payment process were all clear, straightforward, and professional, which made everything stress-free. While a member of the DAS team handled the consultation, Dean himself came on installation day, completed the work, cleaned as he went, and even disposed of the old shelving. The attention to detail and care taken with our office space really reflected a white-glove level of service. Dean is friendly, professional, clearly very experienced, and it's obvious from speaking to him that DAS handles a wide range of office logistics and setup projects with skill and pride. The finished shelving is sturdy, beautifully done, and exactly what we needed. Outstanding experience from start to finish! I'll absolutely be using DAS again for future projects and recommend them without hesitation. Thank you Dean and team for making my job easier and delivering such high-quality results!
