Bento Box (3-items)
Roger C.

Ate dinner @ Shinsei Sushi restaurant located @ Cascade Village in Bend, Oregon. I ordered the Bento 3-items: spicy tuna roll, Teriyaki Chicken, and Chicken Katsu. My wife ordered the grilled salmon (two nice sized pieces). We were both surprised how plentiful the portions were but we did our best to finish our meals! The service and food were top notch. Location was easy to find and there was plenty of free parking in the parking lot. Atmosphere was comfortable and casual. We would certainly return.

Spicy Salmon and Korean ramen bowl.

Great meal and good service! The ramen bowl was so large it could feed two people. I had the Spicy Salmon roll and it was so fresh. It was also fast service. I thought the Sushi was better than average. The ambiance is nice and they have good wine. With Ramen a Salmon roll and glass of wine the bill was only $43 which I think is reasonable.

This is probably the worst Japanese food I ever had. There is about an inch of rice on the sushi rolls(see photos), apparently this restaurant doesn't know how to make sushi, Sushi rolls should only have a thin layer of sushi rice, the worst part is they are absolutely no flavor, we ordered tempura and they taste pretty weird, definitely did not use tempura batter which is made of Rice flour, these are just drenched in baking flour and called in Tempura. Save your money and just buy grocery made sushi if you are planning to come here, The service is great and the ambiance is not bad. Food is awful!

For all the abbreviations on the menu that are not listed online

I have only been here once but that was enough to leave an impression. The restaurant was clean, organized and peaceful. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. In authentic Sushi restaurants I expect language barriers and some cultural differences which I welcome as part of the experience, this was not the case here which is not a good or bad thing. It is a more Americanized restaurant with very good sushi. The food was very good, I recommend the jalapeño appetizer as it is not too spicy but does explode with flavor. My only issue (an extremely small on) here was the menu, it has short hand for some of the ingredients which can be found on the bottom of the menu, or in the photo i have supplied. My wife and I will be returning, hopefully soon.

We got the Family Boat to go, it was a great variety of sushi rolls, it was a fair price, and Glen (our take out cashier) was a funny dude!

Delicious! Every time I go, I am more impressed than the last time. I crave this food. If it was cheaper, I would eat it more often!!!

Shensei can be amazing, But sometimes they overpower the fish with the veggies! But otherwise I would recommend it!

I tried my friend's juk and I loved the flavor. I got a baby bibimbap and actually that and the corn cheese was so filling. I liked my agi bibimbap- I'm glad I tried the red sauce with it too bc it's barely spicy and mostly sweet and a nice complement to the rich meat and egg. I got those two boxed up before I finished so I'd have room for dessert. I tried the hotteok and the texture was odd and the breaded part didn't taste like anything? But the filling and the caramel and ice cream were good. I tried my friend's black sesame ice cream and it was amazing. Definitely get that if they have it!

Their options were untraditional with creative twists on Korean dishes. Prices are higher than standard as well. Their Fried Cauliflower was a nice appetizer. Crispy on the outside and just cooked on the inside so it wasn't too mushy. My Duboo Set Lunch was tasty. I misunderstood it for soup but still really enjoyed it. The tofu was soft and took up the sauce well. Their side kimchi soup and banchans were delicious as well. I'd suggest going for their Dolsot Bibimbap options since these were very tasty and generous, albeit sweeter than what I'm used to. Service was fast and friendly!

Bop Culture runs as a ghost kitchen out of the esteemed 5 Fusion location. Their menu is playful and fun, with some real surprises buried within. We had three things for our first order: #2, #4, and #14. We loved all three but should have ordered #13 instead of #14, which, on its own without the fried chicken, was a light and refreshing coleslaw-like complement to the two bowls. Complex flavors, delightful mix of pickled, savory, and fermented notes. I especially liked the bulgogi! The included house Bop Sauce was so good that we will be ordering a separate 16 oz container for use in our own cooking later! If you like the flavors and Asian-fusion style offered by Spork, you'll likely enjoy Bop Culture's offerings. I'm a huge Spork fan, and interestingly, my wife liked Bop Culture more than Spork. Recommended! Spread the word on this little ambitious startup!

Bi-bim-bops mostly but also some other goodies such as Korean spiced tots and a Korean corn dog. First impressions: when the menu says spicy, the food will be. Not blisteringly so but for those with a low tolerance, take heed. Five dishes ordered and promptly delivered by Door Dash - all good. - Tots: very nice, comes with two dipping sauces, both tasty. - Vegan chicken bi-bim-bop (#3): I've never had fake chicken until now and it works about as well as fake beef (Beyond, Impossible). Which is to say, quite passable. Beyond the fake chicken, the dish itself is very good. Bop sauce (in a separate tub) is tasty if a touch sweet. - Chinese cabbage salad: Excellent. I could eat this all day. - Bop dog: a Korean-inspired corn dog. The epitome of fusion, I guess. Pretty good with a nice panko coating. If you like corn dogs, you'll probably like it. - Beef bi-bim-bop (#1): Excellent. Well seasoned beef with very well done veggies and soft-boiled egg, including kim chi. Overall, I'd say Bop Culture has hit it out of the park in a town somewhat lacking in Asian-inspired cuisine (although it's getting better). Highly recommended.

Food Cart Pods are not a thing where I'm from, so whenever I see one, it's pretty exciting. First of all, do all Cart Pods have names? I love this one; "The Podski", HA! Ok but beyond that, this place had so many delicious and unique options. We had Italian arancinis twice, a sampler of Pierogis, delicious oyster shooters and shrimp tacos. One thing we didn't get but looked awesome: I don't know if we missed out on some gem, but so many people were getting the burgers/fries from one truck. Also, so many other people were getting stuff from the Thai truck. And to top it off... the beer/cider station had an awesome deal. For about the same price you'd pay for a typical pint, they pour about 20 ounces of happy beverage into a taller than I expected glass. The picnic tables are colorful, there's a covered tent if you're feeling cold, people are friendly... it's just overall a great place to chill, drink, & eat.
