I have to say this is by far an outstanding, compassionate, and professional cat sitter service. When I initially contacted Leah (the owner) by email-she recommended Susan (who my cat absolutely adores). The Initial Visit- The initial visit with Susan was at my apartment and was free of charge. She came over to meet and greet me and my cat and to talk about my cat's needs and routine. She was able to see the food, water fountain, litterbox, etc. The Cat Care- Upon notifying River East Cat Sitters when I went out of town-Susan came to care for my cat daily. She spent a half an hour each visit with him. Since my cat is shy-I was expecting for him to just remain under the table-but NOPE-he loved her visits and she even turned on the water in the tub for him to get his little head wet and groom himself. He was so well adjusted and happy with Susan that when I returned from each visit-it was just like I had never left. He was content, happy, well fed, and well adjusted. The Fees- It costs $18.00 per half an hour visit. You can pay via Paypal on their web site. I left a tip for each visit on the table for Susan as well. River East Cat Sitters also offers mail pickup and other minor services for a nominal fee. The Business- Is licensed and bonded. A contract is provided and signed before the date of service and clearly outlines the roles and responsibilities of River East Cat Sitters. Why Susan is the BEST- FYI-Ask for Susan! She is truly amazing! She left a welcome home note for me when I returned from each of my trips. She also sent daily text messages and pictures of my cat! It was very comforting and reassuring! As an avid traveller AND the cat-dad to a special needs feline, I was overjoyed to locate a trustworthy pet sitter who could accommodate difficult medical situations. When my cat developed three chronic conditions almost simultaneously, I thought that my vacationing days were over. Ultimately (and to this day) her treatment regimen grew to include seven medications--some given twice per day--a combination of pills, an oral liquid, and subcutaneous injections. Caring for her became routine but torpedoed our recreational possibilities. Enter Jean from North Shore Pet Sitters. She has experience with all of those types of medications and handled them like a champ. Before booking the first stint, we had an in-home consultation, at which Jean imbued complete confidence that we were leaving our darlings in good hands. Besides expertise, compassion and enthusiasm are her other strong suits. Jean always left a detailed log of the cats' activities which showed that she truly enjoyed being a caregiver. Booking was always easy and the prices were more than fair. A bargain, in fact. Expert, compassionate care of one's furry family members is practically priceless. I can't overstate enough what it meant to us to find a reliable cat sitter. Discovering NSPS and Jean relieved a lot of angst in my household. If you need someone just to show up, change the litter, fill the food and water bowls, and sprinkle some catnip around, I'm sure that North Shore can handle that. Even though she has been watching Izzie since she was a youngster, Helene is thorough to make sure she understands if any of Izzie's needs have changed since her last visit. What I especially appreciate is she is not an "in and out" pet sitter. She takes the time to find Izzie and play with her. She updates me with pictures and texts, all which give me comfort during my absence. Helene also brings in the mail and changes the lights, which are all very thoughtful.
