I brought my cat to Precious Paws (837 W. Toughy) for a scheduled trim. Partway through the appointment, they stopped the grooming and said they "could not hold her down." My cat was returned to me partially trimmed and uneven. To be fair, they did not charge me for the service. However, the interaction felt dismissive and lacked professionalism. There was no clear explanation beforehand that they might be unable to complete the grooming, and no real guidance or alternatives offered when they stopped. If a business is not equipped to handle certain cats or more difficult grooming situations, that should be communicated clearly before starting the appointment. Leaving with a partially shaved cat and little explanation was frustrating and disappointing. read more

BEWARE! BEWARE! You have been forewarned of this vile place. If you have a poodle, goldendoodle, labradoodle, etc AVOID THIS PLACE. They will use the "matted" excuse to unevenly cut your dogs hair. These people butchered my dog with clippers & mixed in vile customer service and I had the pleasure of paying $150. My dog's hair was "mange" with the uneven patches. Worse, my dog's genitals had bled from the severe cuts--photos attached. I previously took my dog to Yuppie Puppy & LOVE their service & the great job they do. By contrast these people appear to be amateurs who make matters worse with misanthropic customer service. Upon entering I knew this would happen, but decided against my instincts. You must enter through the back from the parking lot into a tiny office. During the drop off & pick up there were audible screeches of poor puppies in the background. Truly a place worth avoiding. Photo on the top is the lovely work at Yuppie Puppy in Oak Park--highly recommend. Photo on the bottom is the mange haircut the butchers at "Precious" Paws in Park Ridge subjected my dog to. My dog is skittish & has suffered a great deal. If you love your dog please avoid this place. I am really happy with this groomer in Park Ridge. I have been going here monthly for about a year now. I have noticed my dog runs in the door wagging his tail every time. It is very nice to see this, as in the past at other groomers he was scared to enter. He is clearly very comfortable with this location. The staff are friendly. This was such a great find for a fantastic groomer. My usual groomer was closed on Saturday and the other local option was booked. I needed a last minute groomer so I turned to Yelp and Irina, the owner, immediately contacted me. I loved how I was able to schedule an appointment right away and how she also loves chihuahuas. My baby (chihuahua) is super finicky about her nails and they end up getting long. Her "precious paws" are so small and dainty so I really look for someone I trust with her grooming. Precious paws came thru! Igor was there as well as another groomer. It took them two minutes and her nails were cut. Talk about quick! There was also coffee and cute little decorations all over the salon. The only things I would note is that I wish they also filed them (likely me not asking for it) and to note that there is free parking but the lot gets packed! The best groomers I've ever brought my pups to! I used to bring Pepper and Bailey all the way out to the PetSmart in Schaumburg because I used to live out there and I thought it was easier. Boy was I wrong! I found Precious Paws on Yelp and was immediately amazed at the accolades they had received by their customers. My dogs aren't the easiest to handle..... Mango is a big scaredy cat Shiba, Bailey is a timid Poodle Mix, and Pepper is a scrappy chompy little mutt. It's always a concern of mine when I bring them to a new groomer that they'll tell me my dogs are too difficult and they won't cut their hair. But Precious Paws is amazing. They handle the girls with so much calm loving energy but also show them that THEY are the alpha and it's just a little haircut. My dogs love it there! Pepper actually gets excited when we pull up and the owner (Igor, who btw has years of experience raising and showing LARGE dogs) always picks her up so gently that she just snuggles into him. Irena responds so quickly on messenger that making an appointment is a breeze! I'm so thankful I found them! The girls hair always looks beautiful. They take the time to jot down detailed notes of how you want your pets groomed before they take them in the back. Oh! Did i mention prices?! SO REASONABLE! I'm used to paying over $200 for grooming! Not here! Their prices are on the low end for groomers but their quality rivals the best! They also have the more detailed services as well: flea bath, teeth brushing, nail grinding, etc. totally full service! Not to mention the coffee and treats they have for us humans in their lobby! 10/10 will keep going there monthly with my little floofs. My regular groomer wasn't available so we decided to try this place out. I was very excited to try out this new groomer with the great reviews, however, the haircut was choppy and uneven. The groomer mentioned to my boyfriend that it was because she was so matted so he tried his best. Even if my dog was matted, my regular groomer would have still made her look adorable and puppy like with an even haircut. Also, my dog somehow developed an ear infection for the first time Ever after visiting this groomer... my vet said it may have been because her ears were left damp and who ever plucked her ears did it pretty aggressively... which may have lead to an ear infection. My poor baby... never bringing my dogs back here again. read more

Not a fan. Brought my dog in for a nail trim and 3 times they've cut her too close and made her bleed. Never again.

Went for a cat grooming and had an awful experience. We had gone to this place several years back and had a great experience, though a bath and haircut was expensive ($100) so we stopped going. Fast forward to today and we wanted to come back. However, we now found out that the lady who specialized in cats is gone...We took our 4 year old, friendly long haired cat there this past week. We were told that they don't do baths, which we were fine with. Just needed a comb out and hair cut. Our cat got sick and vomited on himself in the car. So when we got there we asked if he could please be bathed or else we would take him elsewhere. They said no, but that they would clean him up. They tried cleaning him up with towels...Shaving him while he still had throw up on him. He was terrified and being handled very aggressively. We finally stepped in and demanded a bath. We had to "agree" that if he "died" they wouldn't be held responsible (?) then we had to hold him while they bathed him.. all to be charged $100 at the end.. will not be going back. This place may be good for dogs but they do not know how to handle cats. read more

I was accommodated with my last minute call. It did take about 3 hrs to get my dog back which I guess is normal(?) They did a great job, a little choppy on the stomach part but it's ok. I took my dog home and notice some bumps on her skin and it was bleeding a little maybe it probably got caught in the blade, which I can't understand but I'm sure it could be avoidable. A few hours later, my daughter noticed she was limping. I don't know if any other reason for it so the next day we took her to the vet. We were told she had a sprain. If the inflammation medicine doesn't work, we may need to check for anything broken. I don't know what happened in there but I'm hoping my dog didn't get hurt in the process. read more

This was my 11 year old shepherds first time to a groomer. I used to do it but cannot anymore due to My RA. He was really shedding bad. Igor took great care of him. I told him Lars was arthritic on his back end. He was happy I told him so that he would be xtra gentle with him. I got the de shedding treatment. Well worth the extra money. Actually, it was very reasonable considering what the results were. Lars came out beautiful!! He got out all the undercoat, loose fur and tail. He has not been shedding for over a week now. I just brushed him and barely got one brush full. I used to get like ten giant brush fills before. We even got 10% off for first time. I highly recommend this place and will be taking my Lars back. read more

Having just moved to the area, it was difficult to find a good groomer for huskies or just a groomer that is willing to take them in at all! Irina was so prompt about responding to my initial message in Yelp. She was very helpful and answered all my questions! She was very professional and cared about the services we needed. Igor was very kind to our husky Ellie, my wife and I from the moment we walked in! He took his time to understand what we wanted done for Ellie. We felt confident leaving her for her spa day! To our surprise, when we picked her up, not only did she have a precious peep bandana, she also had little hair bows behind her ears and made her look really sweet! Ellie smelled wonderful and looked so refreshed! The deshedding treatment was definitely a success! We were also expecting the price to be way over $200 but their prices were so reasonable and affordable for us! They also gave us 10% off for our first appointment!
