    Esteban with Teresa Joy
    Sheila G.

Intimate cafe with comfy chairs and tables. That was my tip, written before I actually saw the show. And the show was Esteban, who performed his superb classical guitar renditions along with the accompaniment of his daughter, Teresa Joy, on violin. We were seated at a table in the first row above the lower level seats, and it was perfect. My husband requested this from the usher, since we'd be raised up a little, not be blocked by heads in front of us, and not have to crane our necks to look up. Not that the last is a huge problem in this theater, because the front-section seats aren't that far below the stage and the stage isn't all that high. Really, any seat in this theater is just fine. It is truly an intimate cabaret setting, and when the show is as good as this was, it's a near-perfect experience. My only nit is that they don't let you bring drinks in, so if you want to drink (which we didn't), you have to buy it from the bar at the back of the theater. If you must drink, know that the back of the ticket offers a 2 -for-1.

The Purple Reign show was great. This review is about the theater. The theater size was intimate. i'd say every seat had a great view. The acoustics were good too. But the bar was unable to provide drinks in a timely manner. Only one bartender was on shift, and just two waitresses were working. No drinks for you!

Cool that you can see the casino from the theater.

And the award for most uncomfortable chairs goes to... drumroll, please... SHIMMER CABARET! The god awful seats were all I could think about at first. Luckily, I was seeing MO5AIC and once they came on I forgot all about the the feeling of being jabbed in my back because I was on the edge of my chair the entire time! Many of the seats are next to small cocktail tables, which is nice if you're drinking. A couple of the rows are extremely tight but many have very good leg room. It's a small theater, which gives you a pretty good view of the stage from almost anywhere. There's a bar with some premium liquor options and, naturally, overpriced drinks. Definitely not the worst small theater I've ever been to but if the show were not as captivating it would have been a very painful evening.

Anthony Padilla does great stand up comedy. He's a natural & can just so easily interact with his audience in a hysterical way!

The live music was amazing. It's too bad this band seems to only perform once or twice a year. Highly recommend them! As for the food - everyone is asked to buy at least $25 worth of food, and I would've paid that just to watch the band so it was a bonus. The food itself though is nothing to rave about. I got a $15 small piece of miso black code hand roll with some vinegar sugar rice wrapped in soy paper. I could've made it at home. The Japanese Mille crepe was decent, and I think not bad for the price. I wish they sold non alcoholic fun drinks (mocktails). I would've spent it on that and a dessert. Outside of the food being average and overpriced, the service was excellent! Our server was so diligent and always refilled our waters whenever it went down. I'd come back if any shows interested me but wouldn't go just for food.

Located right on Fremont St, Backstage Bar & Billiards is a venue I went to a couple of times when I lived in Las Vegas. I've seen bands like Letter Kills and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster as well as the likes of Cryptopsy and Abysmal Dawn. The last show I went to at the venue was said Maylene and the Sons of Disaster show in what I believe was May of 2024 (I'm catching up on venue reviews). The venue itself is a decent enough size and mostly consists of standing room only, though a few chairs for what I assume is ADA are usually lined up against the wall. The sound here was always solid enough and I don't have any complaints over that and the merch area was tucked away enough in the back that it didn't get in the way of the show itself. Overall, Backstage Bar & Billiards is a solid little venue that consistently has pretty decent shows. The staff here always did what they needed to do, and my only real complaint is that I wasn't able to score Green Day tickets here when they did that special show, but either way, it's a solid enough venue.

I feel like I was here almost once a month for 4 years and it's a venue that I always enjoyed. The merch here was always on the main casino floor and very spacious, while downstairs/the venue itself was pretty darn massive. The main floor was large, the bar area had a ton of room as well as tables, and upstairs had bleacher style seating that sucked when I first started going, but got updated and were super nice by the time I left. I managed to see bands such as Bayside, I Am The Avalanche, Killswitch Engage, Ville Valo, Static-X, Cannibal Corpse, and many many more acts over the years and I wanted to make sure I left this place the positive review I think it deserves. Overall, The House of Blues is a top notch venue and one of the best for alternative music in Las Vegas. Would it be better if it wasn't locatd in the middle of the massive Mandalay Bay Casino? Probably, but the place has great sound, a ton of space, and even some good food to go with it. I'll definitely be back in the future!

My husband and I shared a huge fishbowl cocktail that was deliciously dangerous, but the unexpected star of the show were their fries!
