I'm a massive fan of independent or individual types of Indian restaurants, rather than (what I think of) the more generic branded venues. I had the fried paneer starter & a keema rogan josh - both of them absolutely gorgeous! The food was tasty without being over spiced, well presented & definitely more than generous in their portions. My personal preference will still always be some of the other Indian restaurants in Leeds, but at least now I won't necessarily avoid this particular one if I'm going to be about that area of town or if friends are wanting to go there.

One naan (the smaller one) was enough for me and my partner to share and coupled with an order of rice and a curry each, we were completely stuffed with a little leftover for the next day. For our appetiser we had a Seekh Kebab (my favourite starter) and it was still smoking hot when it was served on our table. I think Akbar's probably has one of the best Seekh kebabs I've tried during my time in England. For mains, I ordered the Tikka Masala and my partner had the Chicken Karahi and they were both spicy (his a little more than mine) but sooo good. You can just taste the freshness of the ingredients and the flavours are so vibrant and delicious. I need to stop writing this before I start salivating! It isn't that cheap, probably around £8-9 for a main, but on special occasions it is nice to come in for a great meal to treat ourselves. Service was fine and our food was served not too long after we ordered. I'll be back next time I'm in Bradford.

The food was absolutely spot on, and the service was excellent. I'm usually quite picky, but the only fault I could find was that the menus could do with a bit of a clean as it looked like someone had left part of their meal over mine.

The small table we were eventually given was at the top of a few stairs with no barrier, I was therefore unable to move my chair back for fear of falling down them. Although they appear to have won awards for their food, it is no better than no better than other Indian restaurants nearby such as Kebabeesh & Lala's.

Quite slow service as far as taking your order, bringing drinks and first course being served was approx 45 minutes and there were only another 2 tables in so wasn't busy. Curry itself was okay but tasted better and then afterwards we waited for half an hour before they asked if we wanted the bill. Advised we wanted desserts and they advised they had run out and fetched the bill. Still charged full price for 2 courses despite only being served with 1 and very slow service, all in all we were in there for almost 2 hours. Lack of management impression, won't be visiting again.
