I love this store and get all my fish and supplied from them. John will even order fish for you. They have almost all the supplies you need, except for some of the foam filters that are not common. :) His fish are healthy and have decent prices. You can get lower prices at PetCo and PetSmart, but you get what you pay for and John has the best. Best of all he is local and knowledgeable. read more

Really healthy fish and can tell they are passionate about their business. I picked up a female betta fish and the co-owner - Jenny - was very informative. read more

my whole family has known them for awhile when we get to the other side the main guy John i believe starts yelling at my mom for touching something with my autistic son in her hands I thought he was joking at first but he was so serious it was unprofessional and a joke he mad me feel uncomfortable and kicked her out she never saw his sign and she has a learning disability do better with compassion and understanding he wanted to argue I suggest putting a lid or rope around where they didn't want people to go or touch idk do better never going anywhere near that place again read more

John is a great guy - always willing to help and Go the extra mile. It's a small town shop selection for saltwater is ok. Fresh water is a good selection. I always come for their water and food. Always good to support local. Also with John's knowledgeable assistance it's always a pleasure. read more

Always friendly, great prices, and super helpful. We've been coming here for a year now, and I won't go anywhere else... I love to support good local businesses. read more

Fish inventory is ok but limited. If you go in to browse avoid the owners wife. She aggressively asks questions about your tank size etc. assuming you know nothing about the concept. She also forces useless advice about the fish you're trying to buy resulting in essentially talking you out of buying! read more

This fish store is the best! Fish are healthy and well maintained by the owners. I was previously buying my fish from a local big box store but the quality of the fish was very poor. Fish either died quickly or infected my tanks. I'm so impressed with the availability of stock and the knowledge the owners have about fish care, compatibility and tank maintenance. This is my new place to buy my fish and supplies. John & Jenny were so patient with me and answered every question that I had. I will definitely be buying more fish from Shillington and highly recommend this business. read more

The older man that runs the store, whom I believe is the owner is a complete nut case. Numerous times my husband and I have gone to this business and any time we ask questions he speaks to us in condescending tone. He is aggressive and it's uncomfortable. We went in there to purchase sea anemone and they didn't look healthy, so naturally seeing if it was healthy I touched the creature to see if it reacted prior to purchasing the creature. The man then yelled at me, stuck his finger in my face and proceeded to humiliate me infront of other patrons. He is the rudest business owner I have ever come across and I do not suggest this business to anyone . To top it off he hardly has any inventory, parking lot is difficult to get in and out of. read more

I Love this store, and it is by far the best fish store in the Inland Empire. John is Very Knowledgeable about his fish and takes very good care of them. He is an old school master fish keeper and hates needless death so he will let you know if you're doing something wrong: albeit not packaged in rainbows, His expert advice comes with 40 year's experience keeping fish alive, AND he has the widest variety, the cleanest tanks and the happiest fish around so I have no Idea how anyone could possibly 1 star this place, but I bet they don't get out much and are probably killing a lot of fish. LEA P. for instance 1 starred saying he was aggressive, and she felt uncomfortable, but then admitted she was poking his sea anemone with her dirty fingers under the giant DO NOT TOUCH sign so whatever. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS STORE! The owner is just trying to make a quick buck. Should've stuck to the rules, when I asked if he could please feed some fish before buying them, his response was "no it will stress them out." How is feeding fish stressing them out? First red flag to stay away. I bought them anyway against my better judgement. Sure enough, the fish never ate no matter what I tried. He knew that, he was just trying to make a sale on me. He'll tell you anything at the store to get you to buy something. Prototypical scam business. But then his true colors show. Even called him back after the 1 week mark and at the 3 week mark. Blamed everything on me and also refused to let me return them and hung up on me. Because to him the well-being of the livestock is less important than his money. STAY AWAY! read more

I can't understand why anybody would give less than a five star rating! This man is more knowledgeable than anybody I've ever met in my life about all of the fish that he carries! We bought five beautiful red discuss. They are very happy and very healthy fish we are enjoying them very much. We will certainly be in to buy more soon! read more

If you are at all interested in having an aquarium, this is the place to go. The owners are the nicest, most helpful, and knowledgeable people. They will give you excellent advice on setting up your tank. Plus, they have the loveliest, cleanest tanks I've ever seen! I've been to a lot of aquariums, and they, by far, have the best tended tanks. They also have an incredible tank with sharks and rays and an eel. If you are looking for a place to buy fish, or if you need advice for your current tank, I highly recommend Shillington's. read more

Shillington Aquariums - The plecco in this tank is a Gold Nugget plecco and it's gorgeous! - Pet Stores Near Me - Calimesa, California

Knowledgeable owner. No gimmicks. Tells you straight forward what you need and don't need. Fresh water selection is really good. Prices are fair. I picked his brain for a lot of info and he provided a lot of good insight as how to start up my tank set up. read more

The owner was great. He's a little eccentric, but he knows his stuff. They have a great variety of fish.

The owners are very good people and knowable. They care about the costomer and fish. They will tell you if a fish is compatible with others you have and if they know it is not safe will not sell you the fish, to protect your investment and the fish. I wish more aquarium stores were like them. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMEND SHILLINGTON! read more

Very rude. Couldnt even get the help or information. The lady would not even let me finish my sentences. When manager came out he also was rude. I couldnt even get a clear explanation of what he was saying. read more

I think it's funny how some people mention that the owner of the store is rude and critical of asking questions. Although he may come off that way, some should take it as helpful criticism. I guess some people can't handle a lil bit of advice. This place has everything you need for your fish and aquarium needs. The owner was very knowledgable of all my questions and helped me a lot. I will def be going back! Support your local businesses. read more

Always so helpful! The best place to buy fish in the Inland Empire. Very knowledgeable about their inventory. my grandson loves it there!

John is very knowledgeable and will take his time explaining what you need to get your aquarium started. He also understands what fish are compatible with each other, creating the most harmonious aquarium experience. read more

Shillington Aquariums is the best fish shop I've ever been too. John and Jeni really care about their fish. There is a huge selection, and all the fish I've ever gotten have lived and thrived. Kudos!!! read more

Yikes, what horrible customer service. The fish selection was mediocre and the owner spent his time scolding me instead of advising me how to start a tank. Without his help, we managed better. Advice to someone about to step foot in Shillington's.. DON'T. The owner yelled at me about the ground media I used in my tank, he severely criticized me. Overly aggressive and not helpful. For knowledgeable advice, and people who care go to PET WORLD in San Bernardino across the street from Best Buy. Their fish are awesome and the selection is endless. read more

When I walked in originally, I told John(owner) about my problems with my tank at home! He came off pretty strong but he was full of knowledge! John told me exactly what things I needed to get done! So far so good! John can do the talk and do the walk! Maybe if you're a sensitive person, this place may not be for you! I'm just saying! Natural sand was a great addition to my tank! John knew exactly where to place my tubing! I will keep going back! read more

Shillington Aquariums - My new upgraded tank! Much better! - Pet Stores Near Me - Calimesa, California

I was here few times already since we move to Calimesa, and I must say it's a typical mom and pops place. I Love how much they care for the fish and such great customer service in helping u find what u looking for, and guiding u through the process. It's not cheap compared to pet smart or petco, but u get greater value on ur purchase here. Definitely my go to place! read more

the owners here take great pride in what they do for a living. their fish are excellent and healthy. there is a saltwater and freshwater section. the owners are also very informative. read more

I am sad I moved to Northern California. Now I can't get great healthy fish from John anymore. He is a great guy, always willing to help. I like that I can still call the shop or send him a message on Facebook for advice. Great store! read more

The reviews saying this guy is rude is true. There's being confident, and then there's being an arrogant braggart who likes to toot his own horn. He told me how my fish would die because I have black gravel (which "they" color with carpet dye), and then basically told me to buy fish somewhere else because his fish, who are living in a "non-smoking" environment, would die when moved to my "smoking" environment. I'll take his advise and take my business elsewhere. read more

John is very knowledgeable and, yes, straight up honest. If he thinks you are doing something wrong he will tell you! I am perfectly ok with the bluntness and realize I am not the expert. I appreciate the local connection and the fact that he recognizes me when I walk in. I believe he has my best interest at heart and wants only for my aquarium setup to succeed! read more

Wow these people are rude. They were extremely hostile and then got upset when we asked questions. I don't know how people can continue to support this business when the owners seem to hate people. read more

This is the only place I come here to shop for fish, they know how to take care of their animals. They have no issue with answering any questions you may have about your tank or the fish in it. They helped me out with the algae growth In my tank, and how to fix it. Absolutely love getting my fish from here, I've never had a problem with them. read more

Top notch costumer service and shopping here has always been a satisfying experience. I wont go anywhere else for my fish need. It might comes to your surprise that they wont sell you anything you dont need, their honesty is over the top and i think thats the reason costumers are loyal to them. Buy most of my fish here and also the water. I got more information from this small shop than all petco and petsmart in California combined. read more

Do not buy fish here. The owners are terrible people. They are rude and mean. The wife has no problem yelling at you & telling you that you are stupid. They act as though you don't know what your doing even though I have had fish tanks for 40 years. Their prices are high & the fish die days after you get them. read more
