We ordered ostomy supplies. Even though prescribed hypoallergenic, they sent this small adhesive removers the size of alcohol wipes, a little bigger that a postage stamp. My daughters skin around the stoma was beet red. The pouches must have been stored wrong, they kept breaking. I called. The rep was nice tried to be helpful. I ordered was to be shipped the 17th. We ran out because of the pouches kept breaking. I called and begged them to make sure they got shipped. 2 separate reps, indifferent, 17th was a Friday. They didn't ship till Monday. No notice that they shipped. I had called and emailed. Don't ship I don't want to do business with you. They should pass themselves off as health care providers.There are better suppliers. Shield...eh, a mixed bag. My medically fragile six year old has a standing monthly diapers-and-chux order and I will say this: they are mostly good at filling her order as specified. Very occasionally, we request/have requested diapers in different sizes to reassess her needs as she grows and customer service--where diaper samples are concerned--is a mixed bag. Some reps have been helpful and pleasant and others act like they need to stay late to make each diaper sample by hand. But even still, I can get past that. Here's what I can't get past: their use of "Reliable Transport" as a shipping agent. Just. Stop. Reliable is honestly the worst ever. They show up anywhere from the crack of dawn until after dark and bang on the door and ring the doorbell (and once even tried the handle--are you FXCKING kidding me?!) for the almighty signature they so desire. But here's the kicker: even if you don't answer the door? They'll leave the items anyway. Why would ANYONE answer the door, then? Did I mention that one time the driver tried our door handle? How about that another time a driver hightailed it to our backyard? (Um, dogs. We have them.) Gah, Reliable Transport. Knocking stars off Shield's rating left and right because, you know, it's only diapers. No need to invite yourself into the living room to drop them off. If Shield would solemnly swear to never again use Reliable, I'd bump them to four stars, but until then? Nope. read more

This is a really special company, I have to take rather strong exception to the poor review below. I think some folks do not appreciate the fact that they bill your insurance after they ship your order and that they have to eat the difference if they ship you something the insurance will not pay for, that is the way it goes these days. Regardless, if you are a caregiver or are in need of Medical Supplies delivered to your door, these are the people to call. Their knowledgeable telephone support team that will coordinate all communication between your doctor and your insurance company so that you never see a claim form, just an express delivery at your doorstep. Staff is very knowledgeable with respect to obscure critical care supplies such as Ostomy, Urology, and liquid nutrition. It looks like they have a fancy new website these days also. Complementary registered dietician services are a major plus. read more

Had this service for my mothers incontinence supplies, and I absolutely loved it. When you call, THEY ANSWER THE PHONE!! Immediately, with little or no wait time. The service reps were always so helpful, supplies always arrived on time, and there were no hassles about insurance or anything like that. I would use them again in the future and recommend them to others. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We deal with a lot of medical supply companies for our daughter and this one is the absolute worst. We have to beg and plead every month to get her feeding tube/nutrition supplies on time. They refuse to adjust dates when a month has 31 days instead of 30. The rep told me that we "just have to deal with it". This month her order date fell on a holiday weekend . The supervisor told me that they only ship every 30 days because of insurance even after she confirmed that our insurance authorized an entire year. She then admitted it was Shield's company policy. Then she changed the story and said it's only once a month after I pointed out that our date was the 1st of Aug and 30 later would be Aug 31. They don't understand that people with a feeding tube need nutrition EVERY day. Her advise was to ask the doctor to write a new prescription saying that we need more formula each day than she needs so that when they fail to get the shipment to us on time, we will have extra formula to use. Insurance Fraud? Or she said that we should take to the her to the Emergency Room 4 times a day for her feeds until the shipment arrives in 2-3 business days If your life depends on the items that you're getting from Shield, I would choose a different DME company read more

The staff are very rude over the phone, no exceptions. They always make an excuse about why I can't order my colostomy supplies when I need them with no real justifications given, this is after they call, text message, and phone me daily to reorder. They use OnTrack for its shipper, OnTrack is an extremely unprofessional company that does not deliver packages on time and sends you email delivery confirmations for packages that they won't deliver until 5 days later. Bottom line: this company only provides you with your supplies at their own leisure with no sense of urgency or concern for the folks who depend on these devices/supplies to live. And it will cost you a great deal out of pocket when they will inevitably drop the ball. I only continue to use their services because they are whom my insurance company approved. I am a cancer survivor and this company has caused me a great undue stress during the fight for my life and have cost me and my family a great amount of money each time we have to purchase from another reliable supplier (even though I have insurance.) I am sure I am not the only customer they fail on regular basis. read more

Today i was calling 10 different locations that my insurance provide me to pick up my breast pump. Everybody was rude.when i call to Shield lady on the phone was super helpful and nice.i am on my 39 week pregnant and she called my dr to prove my prescription so I don't have to drive down there.i am very happy for her help and service what they provide. read more
