Hola friends! My…read morefirst official meal in Palma (and Spain for that matter) ended up being Thai. This wouldn't be the first time that my first meal in a foreign country would not mimic the local delicacy (that goes to Taco Bell in Seoul), but overall, I think I was more excited for the Mexican in Asia. Thai food is hard to mess up, and I felt it was the 2€ wine I ended up buying that made the meal better. However, I will admit that the food did fill me up and got me ready and excited for a night out in the town. Horapa attracts a lot of expats, as evidenced by the English speaking patrons inside. When my friends and I showed up, we were told to order take out as they had no more space inside (even though there were empty tables). I ordered the Malay Chicken Curry with rice, which ended up being very coconut curry-esque and bland, had it not been for the sriracha that I would end up pouring on it. The wait staff lady was also pretty rude to us while we were trying to order, so perhaps it was a good thing that we ended up just taking it back home to eat. I can see Horapa being a good backup for those expats wanting Asian food in Palma, but if you know of another Southeast Asian restaurant on the island, I'd recommend going there first.

The service was slow to get us seated but the Sangria was delicious! The Paella has a 2 person minimum and takes about 1/2 hr to prepare, which is understandable. There are a few options and we chose the shrimp and langoustine. On the menu it says "no shells'" but that apparently was only referring to the tiny shrimp in the dish. I found quite a large broken shell under my rice. When It arrived it smelled like gumbo and tasted very bland. We had a lot of leftovers that we didn't take with us. Maybe they were having an "off" day but I wouldn't go back.
