What a fun concept! There was a queue when we arrived, but we got lucky & a table opened up outside for the 4 of us. You order your fish when you get to the front of the queue from the "fishmonger" & you're charged by weight. It all gets grilled (unless you've chosen to have your squid fried) & then your number is called when it's ready. You don't get seated until after you've picked your fish. It's got a casual, laid back vibe.. highly recommend if you're in the area!

La Parada Del Mar is a cross between a fishmongers and café. Upon arrival you'll find the fresh catches of the day on display, from which you choose what you like, and take a seat while it is deliciously prepared. After some time your number will be called and you can collect the freshly cooked meal. The prawns were fantastic as were the scallops and squid! The indoor & outdoor dining areas are comfortable, and the staff pleasantly friendly and able to answer questions about the seafood in English. All-in-all, a superb meal at a very reasonable price. Tip: if you don't speak Spanish, this is the perfect place to learn counting. Don't forget to ask how your number is pronounced if you don't speak the language. It's walkable from the Cala Major beach, or catch bus number 3, 20 or 46 from the city centre (stop at Marivent).

Oh man, how should I start this review? ( Still thinking about all the tasty seafood I had here in this restaurant). When you first arrived at this restaurant, you will see all the fresh catch seafood in front of you. Don't get intimidated by all these fresh fishes - and don't worry that if you don't know how to cook them! (the staff will arrange it nicely for you.) You can just tell them if you want the big, medium or small portion of each ingredient - also if you don't want everything fried like us, you can also ask them to do like the grill. To be honest, we went a bit banana on all the seafood; we had two large fish (monkfish and salmon), then lots of clams, razor clams, small fishes, squids. Also, got some beautiful green peppers as the healthy vegetable dish. It came about 5-6 dishes for 3 of us, and we killed them all. The food is excellent, fresh, and right with the original taste, there is really nothing I could complain about. The Services are fast ( it serves almost like a fast food speed, incredible! ) and people are friendly here. If you are coming during the weekend, it is better to get a reservation before, so you don't have to wait in line, staring at all the fresh seafood for 30 mins! In short, this is an awesome seafood restaurant and worth two times of visit when you are on the island! Highlight: Great seafood Fresh ingredients Fast services Cool staff Super reasonable price ( We had six big dishes with three beers, the price was around 60 euros.) Free internet Clean Bathroom

Fabulous seafood spot in Palma. You get to pick the raw seafood and it is weighed and priced and cooked for you. There is a good selection of affordable wines to compliment at the bar as well. We ordered a heaping of prawns, razor clams, and calamari which were all excellent. Unique experience.

The concept is great: you have to choose the fishes you want to eat among the catch of the day on the display. So the food is fresh, good and quickly served. It is "half service", meaning that you have to make the queue to choose your meal, ask your drinks and pay your bill at the bar and also have to go and pick up your plates when they call your number. The waiters are all very nice and patient, explaining you the concept if you're here for the first time. The location is not ideal (in front of the street) and it can be a bit noisy but the atmosphere is still nice! I give only 3 stars (I would have rated 3.5 if I could) because even though the dishes were fresh and good, the bill were way too expensive for what it is (75€ for 2 p) It was a nice discovery though! :-)

If you are a tourist, a visit to this restaurant is a must. It had the most abundant, fresh selection of seafood we were able to find near the city center. Walking from the city center to Palma's Military Museum/Fort (~ 1 hour), we found it as the perfect opportunity to dine at La Parada del Mar afterwards for lunch. It was only a 15 minute walk away from the fort and about 20 minutes from Bellver Castle. When you arrive, it can be a bit intimidating as you stand in line to place you order and can catch a glimpse of the seafood choices; they have it all from shellfish, crustaceans, and many types of fish. They also had a simplified bundled menu that included a salad, pastry, drinks, and I believe about five shellfish dishes for about 25 euros per person. Otherwise, you can order a la carte which is what we opted for since we wanted particular items. The host was helpful on explaining our options and he moved so fast but we did not feel rushed. Next you move to the bar area to place your drink orders and then you can find a table with a choice of shaded outdoor or indoor seating options. Then you will need to pay attention for your number to be called and you can pick up your items. They may bring it to you depending on how busy it is. We did not mind the self-service as it got packed quickly and it seemed to allow for efficiency. We also liked how they did not cook all of our selections at once but rather as a few dishes at a time which allowed us to enjoy the seafood while it was still hot. From my description you may think you are doing all the work and left alone with no service but that is not the case. The staff actually paid a lot of attention to the customers and cleared our plates quickly. We felt very well treated as apparent tourists and the service and food was excellent.

Loved this place. Such a cute restaurant where you queue up and pick your dishes from a big selection of raw seafood, before you are seated. We had a table of 8 so we ordered a ton of stuff and everything was super delicious. Favorite was the cockles. Casual and relaxed atmosphere and great for a huge group like ours with kids. Def recommend.

Menu didn't seem particularly compelling so I ordered just a drink. Now, I appreciate that this is a restaurant but the way the waitress scolded me when I tried to order only a drink was uncalled for. She was simply rude about it. I was nice about it and ordered padrón peppers to placate her. The same waitress came back about 5 mins later and asked me to take my bag off the table (a backpack). Okay, again, fine, but she was really just nasty in her tone. Sangria was just okay and was more expensive than the average in the area. Padrón peppers were delicious, however. Between the yummy peppers and the fact that the wifi was free and strong, I'm giving 2 stars instead of one. But I wouldn't return or recommend due to the rude service.

The restaurant is very tiny and we have a wait of over 40 minutes. The service was fine. Food - the Spanish octopus was delicious! Perfectly prepared. The Russian tuna salad is surprisingly excellent!! I never tasted that dish before. Note.... It is more like potato salad with tuna then green lettuce salad with tuna. My kids had the salmon and it was regular slightly over cooked one of them mentioned. The sangria was OK. However, there were many knats and small bugs that were attracted to the fruit in the sangria that turned me off. One of these fruit flies flew in my glass and I was done. If you feel like waiting the octopus, and the Russian salad is excellent! Not sure if I would return, as there are many restaurants in that area that serve similar dishes.

We were a party of 6 and they took us upstairs through what felt like a maze of tables and parties enjoying wine and tapas. I already had fallen in love with the ambiance that felt cozy and intimate. We were seated and proceeded to order a ton of starters. One of the highlights were the oytsers which were dressed with shrimp, the pan con tomate, the burrata salad and the cochinillo main. Wow. That pork was divine, and we all agreed it was the star of the night. Our friendly server also recommended two different wines - a white from the area and a red. Both were great and perfect pairings with our meal. We ended with dessert which was torrejas and a homemade strawberry ice cream. I loved them both. Would definitely put this spot on your list when in Palma. It's in the walkable area of town so pop in and explore before and after.

I ordered the beef tartar which was highly recommended & this was a first for me. The flavors were out of this world & perfectly seasoned. I also tried the suckling pig (very juicy, nice crispy outside & tender inside with wonderful flavor) which sat on top of thinly sliced potatoes & came with a side salad. I was extremely satisfied & would love to go back to try other dishes. I HIGHLY recommend this excellent restaurant!
