Excellent restaurant! We had a feast at this place let me tellya! We got various tapas (all hot) and the draft beer was perfectly cold as well. The grilled pork with balsamic and the vegetable roles were hands down the best. But the winner of the night was the freaking papas bravas with bacon!!!! We had three portions and wanted more... The ambiance is cute and service really awesome - - - shout out to the waitress from Uruguay!. Highly recommend this restaurant for an awesome night with great food and drinks.

(Palma de Mallorca, May 2023) We chose this traditional tapas bar near Plaza de Espania based on raving reviews on Mallorca FB group. Not easy to find, it is in a corner of a small street ( Google maps to the rescue). Waited in line to be seated. The expectation was to find a tapas bar favored by locals but it was full of tourists who like us came after reading the reviews. The staff barely speaks English. There is a poorly translated English version that is not particularly helpful if you are new to Mallorca. We ordered a mix of what we knew and some new ones to try. Overall, a big disappointment unless you love everything carbs. I think I had carbs ( in a form of flour) overdose. Cod croquettes had almost no cod in them, basically cod smelling pancakes, shrimp was wrapped in a thick pastry and drained in a very sweet sauce. The only tasty thing we're grilled green peppers. Flat bread tapa had very little topping on top, and again, the bread taste was overwhelming. Perhaps we ordered a wrong selection. So if you decide to try it, come prepared, read the reviews, check the menu online and translate yourself. Staff are very friendly and trying to be helpful but they are also in a rush rush mode serving way too many tables per server. Interiors are very blah and resemble more of a simple cafeteria. I can see stopping for a beer and sitting at the bar, but I wouldn't come for a meal for the second time. There lots of good bars and tapas places in Palma to repeat this immemorial experience

    Burrata and pesto--sooo good!

If you're in Palma, be sure to stop by Bar España for dinner! We got seated at around 11 pm for a late, late dinner. We had to wait around 15 minutes to get seated, but there were 8 of us, which is understandable. Looking back, we should've probably made a reservation. The delicious food, welcoming environment, and nice waiters made our experience awesome. We started with a meat platter to share along with croquetas, all of which were great with the rosé we got for the table. My friend who's a vegetarian had to use some Google translate, but found dishes for herself on the tapas menu. The burrata with pesto bruschetta was a favorite at the table for sure. Our waiter was attentive, but the restaurant was busy at first, which made them accidentally bring out our dessert before our entreés. By the time they realized their mistake, we were already halfway through dessert but the food was so good that none of us really cared.

Saturday night tapas with a lot of locals, Bar España is the spot. It's a lovely tapas bar that has great service and great food. Busy and more busy, we had booked a reservation earlier and arrived on time to find a "reservado" on the table. We started off with a glass of Mallorcan red and I let my new friend order our meal. We got three plates of food. Fries (really good fries) topped with fried eggs (sunny side up) and a spicy sobrasada. The trick here is to cut it all up and mix it all through so that each bite has some potato, some egg and some sausage. Delish! Next plate, a croqueta stuffed with mushed eggplant. Yum! And the third plate is a house special that I didn't catch the name of. A stack of eggplant, tomato, red pepper and tomato sauce, then topped with a fried quail egg. It was amazingly tasty. Great wine, an interesting and lively crowded vibe, terrific food.

I don't have any pictures of the food but here's one of my girlfriend.

Mallorca is great. Bar Espana is the greatest though. It has great tapas and a line out the door to prove how good they are. The folks that serve you are also super sweet and a reason alone to visit. Buen provecho!!!

This is such a cute and delicious place to have, especially for lunch. It is not touristy which was a plus for us. We had several types of croquettes and patatas bravas, all very tasty. The service was fast, and the vibe was quite relaxing and chill. Highly recommend!

    Pintxos and booze!

Wow! A little pricey for tapas but it's Island prices and the food + drink was delicious. We wandered in at about 11pm on a Wednesday night during low-season and the place was busy with a locals vibe. Plopping ourselves down at the bar we ordered a few things off the menu in Spanish. They speak a little bit of English but the menu is in Spanish. Best part of a pintxos bar is you can point and say numbers of what you want. From the kitchen we ordered: - Langostino Crujiente - essentially long deep fried shrimp rolls - Huevos rotos con foie - served in a mini cute paella dish. Like poutine without gravy but puncture the eggs for some sauce which goes with the sea salt on the fries and the creaminess of the foie. 1 order is good for 2 people. The final bill was 48€ for 2 - which I was happy to spend but may be pricey for others.

    Corquetas (Bacalao)

My wife and I visited Bar Espana for dinner and drinks. The tapas menu was extensive. We had the Tortilla de Patatas, Burrata con Pesto Rojo, Corquetas (Bacalao), and the Solomillo con Foie y Cebolla Confitada. All the tapas were delicious. However, the service was absent and caused us to leave much earlier than we wanted to. Our server only stopped by twice: once to take our order and once to drop off one of the tapas. Afterwards, we were unsuccessful at getting our server's attention. Expect to wait at least half an hour for a table in the evening.

    Pinxtos!

Very lively, and very good bar for pinxtos and other nice food alacarte. Bar has a good selection of pinxtos at 1,90 euros per piece. And they were all super delish. From the menu there are different choices, we only had patatas bravas (very good) in addiditin to all the pinxtos. Highly recommended if you find it. Went back the day after a bit earlier, still perfect pinxtos. Recommend to book table for dining after 8pm.

Absolutely unbelievable! One of the best meals of my life. Everything was amazing. Would have taken photos for the review, but it was immediately eaten. I love food

This place is very popular so expect a bit of a wait during prime hours. They do not have a waiting area so it was a bit uncomfortable hanging out in front of the door because others are also waiting and there is a constant flow of people. We were lucky the evening we went around 8:30pm to be seated within about 5 minutes arriving there. Most of the menu is interpretable without knowing Spanish in that you can figure out some of the ingredients but we did end up ordering a few things blindly. We could have asked the waiter/waitress but we were feeling adventurous. The food was very tasty but a lot smaller than they appeared in the other Yelp pictures. This was a really a really great place to hang out, eat a lot of tapas, and drink many wines.

Great place referred to us by some of the locals. Excellent selection of tapas and good drinks. The mini burgers are incredible. Everything there tastes spectacular! A little bit tricky to find though. Fortunately it was right around the corner from our place. Highly recommended.

Our first night in Mallorca and this restaurant was on a list recommended by the brides. You can…read moresee why they love it here because the vibes, the food, and the service were great. We were a party of 6 and they took us upstairs through what felt like a maze of tables and parties enjoying wine and tapas. I already had fallen in love with the ambiance that felt cozy and intimate. We were seated and proceeded to order a ton of starters. One of the highlights were the oytsers which were dressed with shrimp, the pan con tomate, the burrata salad and the cochinillo main. Wow. That pork was divine, and we all agreed it was the star of the night. Our friendly server also recommended two different wines - a white from the area and a red. Both were great and perfect pairings with our meal. We ended with dessert which was torrejas and a homemade strawberry ice cream. I loved them both. Would definitely put this spot on your list when in Palma. It's in the walkable area of town so pop in and explore before and after.

I ordered the beef tartar which was highly recommended & this was a first for me. The flavors were out of this world & perfectly seasoned. I also tried the suckling pig (very juicy, nice crispy outside & tender inside with wonderful flavor) which sat on top of thinly sliced potatoes & came with a side salad. I was extremely satisfied & would love to go back to try other dishes. I HIGHLY recommend this excellent restaurant!
