A little bit off the beaten path, I found Gaudeix and they were able to seat me at the bar even though I did not have a reservation. The place wasn't that busy especially for a single. I had three tapas and a beer, when I was finished there were still quite a few empty tables and the reservations hadn't come in. Pricing was a little odd. The waiter pointed out that the items on the menu board with yellow dots were discounted before 7:30 PM so I stuck to those. And while he must have confused my English on one of the tapas, the other two weren't even the same price as what was on the board. Whatever, I won't argue. Maybe you will? I had the crystal bread (delicious toasted bread topped with a tomato sauce), shrimp and garlic cooked under a broiler in a lot of butter and a shrimp/leek risotto that was delicious. I would rate it 3.5 stars. We had a combo of tapas and pinchos at Gaudeix - food was just OK. Some tapas were better than others. The squid stuffed with prawns, scallops with the artichoke cream, and lobster stew was good. The croquettes were OK, not my the best in Palma though. I was not a fan of the foie gras. The service was OK too. I'm not sure if they were just having a really busy night, but I felt as if they weren't as attentive as other places we had been to in Palma. Overall, it was a good meal but not the highlight of my trip. read more

I'm glad one of the most famous tapas place in Mallorca is open. I looked forward to trying it, and it was easy to get a table. But I did not like it. We asked for the waiters favourites, said we were really hungry and the food started coming. we had all different kinds of tapas from foia gras to octopus. Nothing stood out at all. There was nothing else open in the area, so we went off the beaten path and had dinner at around 6pm (this is early in spain, many places arent even open). They rushed us to eat in 1 hour, which is fine. It so happened that half the tapas menu wasnt available. Food was okay, but a little salty. read more

After having had a few horrid meals in Mallorca, I was mildly satisfied with my meal at Gaudeix. I expected better for the price point (45euros for 4 pintxos, 1 tapa, 1 glass of wine,&1 soft drink). In all honesty, everything I have had in Mallorca so far tasted like it was boiled in a vat of sea water first. Everything was more salty than necessary. The waiter was super nice and very competent. I appreciated the presentation as a foodie place but the food just didn't taste very refined. If you like salty food, this may be your place. read more

We ate at Gaudeix on a Wednesday in late July 2013, and got a table at 9.30pm, even though we did not have a reservation. The other diners were mainly Spanish, which was a welcome change from the usual Swedes and Germans we have encountered almost everywhere else. The menu is only written on blackboards and only in Spanish, but one of the waiters was more than happy to translate for us, as our pocket dictionary failed miserably when faced with food beyond the most common dishes. After much deliberation, we ended up with 2 pintxos (smaller tapas) and 3 tapas, which proved to be more than a sufficient amount of food. The fare at Gaudeix lies somewhere between the more contemporary creative tapas dishes at for example Ummo and Forn de Sant Joan, and the traditional tapas dishes you peobably know and expect, such as those served at La Boveda (no criticism of either intented, as all mentioned serve fantastic food). Our dishes were as follows: patatas bravas (well cooked and sufficiently spicy), Mahon cheese from Menorca with pan cristal (crispy bread) with olive oil and tomato (delicious - we adore Mahon cheese), and aubergine ribbons filled with cream cheese and topped with a black olive paste with either sherry or port (menu did not say), which deserves more than a parenthesized comment, as it was pure genious! The last two dishes were shrimps cooked in oil with garlic and chili (a spanish tapas classic, and so well executed with very tasty and fresh prawns), and a broad bean stew with a local sausage I cannot recollect the name of (not sobrassada or chorizo), red pepper and garlic (also excellent and full of flavour). With the food we had a most excellent bottle of Mallorcan red wine - in my modest experience, these tend to be a bit lighter than the wines from the Spanish mainland, and resembling more the lighter Italians, like Chianti. This supposition might of course be totally erroneous, but I urge you to try some local wones when visiting the island! Our primary waiter did not speak English, but service was still ok, and the restaurant admittedly has a very cool vibe to it - make sure to check out the decor and lamps made of kitchen utensils! The prices at Gaudeix lie somewhat below most of the restaurants in the old city of Palma, and all our food with a bottle of wine and two of water came to €58. Definitely in our top three of tapas meals during our stay in Palma! read more

Overall, an excellent traditional Spanish/Mallorcan meal as long as you eat meat. Referred to by the locals as one of the most authentic, best, and least touristy restaurants in the area. A decent sized indoor space and 4 tables outside (call for a reservation or get there early if you want one, though) in the small courtyard). Not vegetarian friendly by a long-shot, but there is very little on the island that is. I had to settle for some crispy tomato bread, patatas bravas, and the scallop salad with the scallops on the side for my co-diners, which were all very good. Regardless, it's a lovely little place and everyone is friendly and accommodating. 4 pinchos, 3 small plates, 1 bottle + 1 glass of Mallorcan wine, and dessert for 55€. read more

Loved this quaint little spot. Food was delicious and the waitress was kind. Helped us pick tapas off the menu as well as a delicious bottle of local Sangria. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the neighbors stroll by while we dined. read more

Listen, see when you go into a tapas resteraunt and they only have 8 things on the menu....that's when you know you're about to get next level Tapas. They do approx 8 small plates and the same for larger sharing plates. Why does that matter? Because they are doing a little but doing it to exceptionally high standards. High points were the seared scallop on artichoke cream and some sort of Lamb stew shaped into a long block which just melted in the mouth. Those were highlights but to be honest every dish was top notch. Top it off with friendly service, reasonable prices and a good location (it's two mins walk from a major tourist attraction which would usually put me right off going) and you've got...a definite 5 Star place. read more

Get what I got because everything was delicious. I rarely give out a five star but this place did not fail us on any front. Servers were lovely, square was lit up perfectly and you could hear your conversation without yelling. Pan con tomate, all the specials, tuna, squid on toast con cebollas...and the Verdejo was superb. We had a prawn wrapped in squid with ink, scallop and potato and broken eggs with jamon. We had a vermouth each, a glass of local white wine and finished off with a local brandy. Couldn't be happier especially considering we'll only be here a few hours. read more

Wonderful place, where food is excellent and service comes with a smile. They'll all wizz and run about, as the place is often packed (just book or show up early!). The landlady welcomes you with a smile, and the sexiest voice since Kathleen Turner did Jessica Rabbit. From then on, you're encouraged to take a picture of the big blackboard (helpfully translated into English) and make up your mind: plenty of tapas, or pick a tapa as starter then a main course. You know what to expect after two meals in Palma: ham, aubergines, cheese, etc., but this is done wonderfully at entirely reasonable prices. It's also the sort of place where they'll sneak lobster stock into the risotto for the fish of the day, and desert comes in the form of a foam of daiquiri served in a cocktail glass. The restaurant is far enough from the touristy places by the waterside that Spanish and Catalan are the languages you're most likely to hear, which is always a good sign. You're also likely to see the chef come out of the kitchen and greet the regulars with a kiss on both cheeks - all explained with a grin and a brief "They're family!". Need I say more? read more

This review comes a bit late - I just realized I had not written about Gaudeix directly after our visit - but even after months we still remember this wonderful place. My wife and I were in Palma in January 2017 and wanted to eat in the much praised 13% in Calle San Feliu. The place was closed so we looked around for a good place nearby. And finding Gaudeix just 50 metres up the street was a real hit. The tapas and pinchos at Gaudeix are fabulous. Contrary to "normal" tapas there is practically no bread with a little topping, but practically just the topping like scallops with artichoke cream (5,50), squid stuffed with prawn (4,20), goose liver (5,00). And it tastes fantastic. If you want to eat something bigger, they offer sharing plates. We had 3 tapas/pinchos, 1 sharing plate, 1 big dessert, 2 glasses of wine and 2 cappucinos. The total came to only EUR 45,70. It was so good that we decided to come back the day before Gaudeix closed for their holiday. This time we paid just EUR 54,70 for 5 tapas/pinchos, 2 desserts (one superb Espuma de Daikiri), 1 SanPellegrino, 3 glasses of wine, 2 cafes and 1 copa Hierbas de Mallorca. We sat next to a Swedish couple who regularly come to Palma staying in their second home. They told us that they come to Gaudeix very often due the delicious food and friendly service. On our next trip to Palma, we too will definitely be back in Gaudeix. By the way: seeing now the photos in Yelp of the tapas in 13% - we were lucky that 13% was closed. The tapas there are much too much bread - no match to the wonderful and delicious tapas and pinchos in Gaudeix. read more
