On March 22, 2017, we purchased a 2013 Subaru STI from Shetler Corley Ford in Crowley, LA. When asked for a Carfax, I was handed a clean, accident free Carfax. With such, we trusted that the car was okay, with no accidents. (Idiot move, I know) On May 5th, 2018, we were trying to trade it in on another car to try and save a little money. When the dealership ran the Carfax, it came back with two accidents, both with air bag deployment. One accident occurred in 12/09/2013, the other occurred 03/18/2014. Both of which just so happen to began reporting 07/26/2017, 4 months and 4 days after we purchased the car. The cars value has gone down from $21,000 trade in to $13,000. When we went speak to the sales manager at Shetler Corley, the only responses we received were "hmmmmm", "I don't know", and "I don't know how this happened". He stated he could help us get into car, to which I asked if he'd give the $21,000 trade in the car is valued at with their clean carfax. He didn't respond. Corey then asked what our options were and he said that was an upper management decision. He went speak to upper management and came back, saying they sold the car to us in good faith that it wasn't wrecked, and to contact Carfax. I have emailed Carfax and haven't gotten a response on what can be done just yet. I know I only have myself to blame for not inspecting the vehicle thoroughly, but if a Carfax is clean, would you?? I'm not sure if this was Carfax that dropped the ball, or if it was an issue with the dealership. As when we were purchasing, we asked about a 2015 Subaru WRX that was cheaper, and two different BMWs that were on the lot, to only get the response "no, those won't work. Only this one will." Knowing what I know now, with those tactics, I should've walked away from the deal. You use two trusted sources, only to be screwed by either, if not both. read more
