I had become extremely frustrated trying to work with my local Volvo dealership. I made an internet inquiry and never received a response. So, somewhat reluctantly, I reached out to Giles, even though they are more than two hours away from me. What a difference. I submitted an internet inquiry on the Giles website early one morning, and within about 90 minutes I had received both an email and a text with the basic information I was looking for and an invitation to talk. We had a phone conversation, and I explained exactly what I wanted and what I needed. They listened. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely interested in helping rather than simply trying to sell me a car. They made me an offer, which I countered. Lachlan, my salesperson, told me he would call me back. He did -- within minutes. And he didn't just match my offer; he beat it. From there, Lachlan worked with me to figure out all the details of getting to Lafayette from more than two hours away. When I arrived, the XC90 was sitting there prepped and ready to go, and all of the paperwork was prepared. The dealership itself is beautiful -- it feels more like a Scandinavian lodge than a traditional car dealership, with beautiful woodwork and Scandinavian furniture. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. I was offered coffee (which felt especially appropriate given both South Louisiana and Swedish coffee traditions -- we both take our coffee seriously!). The actual transaction was incredibly quick and painless. They transferred all of my preferences from my old Volvo to the new one and even took care of switching my insurance over. They thought of everything. I was more than happy to make the drive to Lafayette to work with Giles Volvo. In fact, the two-hour-and-twenty-minute drive each way was a pleasure because of the experience I had with their team. A special thank-you to Lachlan and everyone at Giles Volvo. Vickie is a terrific service manager & her communication, expedited process to secure a loaner and get your vehicle repaired quickly is outstanding. Getting my car serviced is such an easy and streamlined process, which makes a difference when you're having to deal with unexpected vehicle expenses. Kreg is my go-to sales guy and he knows his Volvos like the back of his hand. Aside from his experience with Volvos, he never tries to sell you something you don't want or need. He is not pushy at all and will be completely honest when helping you decide on a vehicle and options. He actually makes you feel like he cares about you as a customer more than he cares about closing a sale. He's been super patient with me over the last couple of years as I have teetered around committing to a new Volvo, but each time I come in he treats me like a priority. Adam, the finance manager is outstanding as well. He will take care of you when it's time to close your purchase, and resolve any issues you might have during the process. Chris did an excellent field repair to get it on the road and able to make it to our Florida destination with no further problems. When I picked up my car, they had installed a large, visible hitch (chipped and rusted) and cut my bumper without my knowledge or consent. I later found out the front desk employee changed the order on her own to "save me money"--something I never approved. They eventually installed the correct hitch, but the damage was already done. My bumper now has a large, unnecessary cut that will cost me around $1,000 to repair. To make matters worse, they had the audacity to tell me the bumper would have needed to be cut anyway--which is misleading. It would not have been cut where they made the visible damage; that only happened because they installed the wrong hitch. Despite all of this being their mistake, they still made me pay half of the $200 overnight shipping to fix it. Unacceptable workmanship, poor communication, and zero accountability.
