The outdoor area is well set up for the season with the the overflow in the parking lot. My only issue was the selection of bamboo stakes was slim. This place has an outdoor self checkout system, which was new to me but easy to use. They thankfully still have a checkout person if you need help or have questions. A bit more expensive than some local competitors but good enough for a quick shop.

We have a Golden Retriever who annual tracks mud into the house during the Spring. So this year we…read moredecided to spread a blanket of straw onto the ground where she walks to reduce the muddiness. I've seen these blankets all over commercial properties and highways where new grass seed is spread so I assumed they were readily available everywhere. Lowe's website showed them for sale, but out of stock. Home Depot was the same and said I could order it. But the mud came early this year and I couldn't wait another day. I figured I could probably get them at Farm and Fleet, but I just didn't want to drive all the way out west to Randall Road. Then Google found Tractor Supply Co. in Wauconda. They had straw blankets in stock so I jumped in the car and headed out. Once I got there I realized I've passed this store many times and had no idea it was there. If you're driving on Liberty (176) coming from west of Rand Road you'll probably easily see the Walgreens that's in front of it. Look just past Walgreens to the south and there it is. The best way to describe it is a Target for farmers. This place has lots of rubber boots, perfect if you're walking around a muddy farmland tending to your animals. It has chicken feed AND live chickens! Oh, and live ducks! It has things for keeping bees, feeding cows and caring for horses. They have animal supplements, all kinds of hardware, garden, hunting and camping items and several different options for straw! In the back they have a dog washing room you can rent. Basically, if you're looking for something to maintain your house, farm or just enjoy the great outdoors, they most likely have what you need. Seeing as I'm not a farmer and wasn't looking to take up hunting or raising animals, besides my dog, I took a quick walk around the store, grabbed the straw and headed home. But next time I go there (and I know there will be a next time because I signed up for their rewards program knowing I'll at least be needing more straw), I'm going to look longer. In just the short time I was there I saw many unique, but useful items I haven't seen at any of the big box stores. So on my next visit I'm going to take my time and see if in their rows and rows of rubber boots they have an extra-extra small size for dogs. They probably do!

I showed copies of receipts for this. So I contacted corporate and.... One Star- For corporate because they allowed it to take over 2 weeks to have the district manager call me and then the district manager would not call me and had the store manager do her dirty work. The store manager had to check back with her for everything I questioned. Zero stars for district manager because corporate told her to contact me but had her store manager do it instead. After all done she left a message (probably because I complained to corporate) and her message said I calling to make sure you got my final decision on your issue. 5 stars for store manager who should get promoted to district manager because he had to do their dirty work. Why do many others get the discount I asked for and I was not allowed. Telling me they were not suppose to get it does not justify not giving me the same discount. I provided 3 other copies of receipts to show this and all they say is they shouldn't have gotten that. Bad business and this was my first and last time shopping there because of it. Too bad for them since I have a construction company. 1 of 3 receipts posted.

Support your local small businesses, and go to Lloyd's for your painting and wallpapering needs…read moreinstead of Menards, Home Depot or Ace! You won't be sorry! The staff is far more knowledgeable and patient than the folks at the big-box stores. They are super friendly, and they really take the time to help you. They have high quality products at competitive prices. I love the fact that they carry zero-VOC paint. The big-box stores claim to have this, but if you read the labels, you'll find that it is really low-VOC paint. Not the same thing....still contains carcinogens. Another thing I like about Lloyd's is the fact that they keep a record of the paints you purchased and what room you were painting at the time. So when your kid draws on the walls or you accidentally ding the wall while moving furniture, you can just go back to Lloyd's, and they'll mix up a bucket of the same color. Three cheers for Lloyd's! My family has been visiting them my whole life, and we're never disappointed.

I took a gander at the checkout lines and they were really really long. I thought to myself, "Did we make a mistake?" - however, I figured, let's just take our time. I picked up some protein bars for breakfast and workouts. And some Blue Diamond Almonds with Michigan Cherries. We picked up some Arnold Palmer beverages. I tried the almonds and the cherries and they were really good. There is no salt added. I'd buy these again for sure. Both protein bars and almonds were pretty good value. After we got all our items, we headed towards the checkout line and it was short, really short. We checked out in about minutes. I think it was beneficial that we went after eating lunch as I stayed away from the samples and I didn't buy anything off the list.
